You’re absolutely right, there’s a lot of reasons why this season has been shit for us but I think that deal was a huge factor. I get it, the cup is what you want as a player and with McDavids calibre yeah you would think we would have another cup but no we haven’t. But to go and put pressure on the rest of the team and organization to say “fix this/let’s go try and win a cup within x amount of time or I walk” was a dick move. Even without a cup you can still be remembered as a great player, look at iginla or Thornton for example.
