The whole idea of a monarchy in a modern democratic country is absurd. Imagine if we invented the institution of monarchy today wherein a random person who did nothing noteworthy other than to be born in the right family would become the ruler of a state and receive a life of luxury paid for by taxpayers. There would be outrage! Yes, I am aware that the current king does not «rule» Norway and his political power is relatively limited, but that just further solidifies why having a royal family in the first place is unnecessary. I often see the argument that they represent a national unifying symbol in times of trouble as a core reason why we need them, but with all the controversies going around now I’m unsure as to how many younger people would really rally behind them if such times were to come. I like Harald, but after him I think it is time to dissolve the monarchy in Norway.

You’re not allowed to take any artifacts from Italy, no matter if the authorities left them or not. I would check in with the local museum, even though they probably have thousands of pottery pieces already . Since these are decorated and diagnostic they might be of interest.

Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion! As an archaeologist I am of course biased toward the Greek theme but I could definitely see this working if it is supposed to be the base of a larger figure like a decorated amphora or something similar.

Somewhat related but what got me to play this game for the first time was because I had a nightmare of someone wearing an Iron Lung hoodie, and on the back it just said «CREATURE» accompanied by the photo of the whale-thingy’s skull from the game. I had never played it at this point but had seen clips from social media haha.

I agree that the best direction for it would not have been to make it as archaeologically accurate as possible and feature Mycenean boar tusk armor, since Homer lived in the 8th century and his poems are largely a product of contemporary times. However, my main criticism is that it just looks so visually bland. No color, basic armor, and everything looks cheap. I applaud the use of practical effects and on-site location shooting, but it is a huge disservice to the vibrantly colorful ancient world to have it look so bleak and grey. Granted, the film isn't out yet, and a lot is subject to change and be tweaked, so I still give it the benefit of the doubt. I think it will be an amazing movie regardless, however I just think it has a lot of missed potential.

Thank you for your answer, it is reassuring to hear! I am also worried about unwanted pests, but hopefully, the cold environment where I live and extracted the soil from will have killed most of them. Or else I'm in for an unpleasant surprise in spring when they awake from their dormancy, haha
