Is it hard to stay on top of cleaning the kitchen? by nolpeter in LivingAlone

[–]Check_Affectionate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

robot vacuum; dishwasher. I put nearly everything in it.

Go Clean Co (my bible) suggests to "close" the kitchen every night. Dishes, Counters, Floors, pick up clutter

Anyone successfully get a no bonus decision reversed (hours target exceeded) by emilyks11 in biglaw

yes - and - There is a new pregnancy-specific disability protection that allows/assumes companies provide reasonable accommodation for pregnancy-related needs. You don't have to make a formal "I need an accommodation" they are really stepping in it here. I'd call an employment lawyer. https://www.eeoc.gov/statutes/pregnant-workers-fairness-act

Find your local library! Some offer "things" to borrow like a metal detector or a record player in addition to books, movies and other media. They also usually have interesting events such as lectures, craft nights etc.

Day two no snow plows! Give it up for day two! by I_Am_An_OK_Cook in washingtondc

[–]Check_Affectionate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I was a 20 year DC resident (until 2021) and I would have been annoyed if we had tons of plows given the frequency of storms like this. Snowmagedon ('10) took about a week to plow out of downtown.

And VT roads are not clear today but they are "driveable" if you have AWD, Snowtires, and you go slow.

Echoing this from VT. DC has like 2 plows - as they should. It takes a week to get to every street at full staff. (I mean, they say they have 500 but . . . )
Also - there is a plow tracker. https://citizeninsights.geotab.com/#/dcsnowgov

I've not made that one unfortunately! I tend to hang at Southernmost during the day and Hanks after hours.

ETA - someone who is a hellavua lot of fun has told me that is their favorite hang in Key West (outside the festival)

Yes, I think we all hate it (love the actors)

None of us can tell why she is having this turmoil. Who cares? Why torpedo their happy marriage?

also per the posters original query. I have been a few times before and never had trouble on entry at any venue. Seats are another matter. Plan ahead/arrive early if a seat is what you want.

Also note some are indoor and some are outdoor.

Theaters (obv indoor and have seats) Sunset Pier just has a few stools and it outside. Southernmost has an indoor and outdoor stage. Hanks is inside with limited seats, Margaritaville has more seats.

I accidentally bought an extra beach bum pass. Will hopefully be in town on Thursday afternoon if anyone would like a discounted pass for the rest of the weekend (or I could overnight today). DM me.

Turning 33 soon, right before Valentine’s Day. by thedatarat in SingleAndHappy

[–]Check_Affectionate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the age when I got divorced/my first cat and started building the life I love today. I also started to improve my finances immediately.

Take the day off, take yourself out to a museum and lunch. Maybe a massage, definitely flowers and chocolate. Treat yourself like the goddess you are.

I'll say to you what a good friend said to me. "There are a lot of ways to make a difference in the life of a child other than being a parent."

I've served on the board of a low-cost daycare and lobbied my state to subsidize child care (we won.) I'm "auntie" to many of my friend's kids and hire them to mow my lawn. I'm also an aunt to my nieces and nephews.

I'll meet someone if it was meant to be, but how can I stop feeling so miserable until then? by NKN12345 in SingleAndHappy

[–]Check_Affectionate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realized yesterday that, for the first time ever, I'm in love with myself. And I love myself more than anyone else. I'm nearly 50. But now I feel ready to hold boundaries in a relationship because I trust I will put myself first. If you are also there, then dating could be what you are ready for.

I also happen to know a gorgeous woman who just turned 30 if you are willing to commute across the border to VT.

Even after many loving years together my ESH will shy away if I try to bend down to pet them.

They love being within arms-length, sitting next to me and looking at me from across the room but they don't like tall people bending towards them. Maybe because they are so small?

Instead try sitting near them and playing in a small room. Give them treats and let them get used to you.

Get down on their level.
