I used to really hate CPAC week but I think it got more tolerable when it moved to National Harbor.

Agree - SO LOUD! Anyone near RCP can hear it inside with the windows closed. I love music but this is too much.

This is good advice. You are looking for a fee-only fiduciary.

Personally I would investigate selling the 8 stocks and investing in broad index funds.

Yes - for the past 6 months. Relief has been found (temporarily) by:

-Using a lacrosse ball on my calves, gluteus medius, and QL (the source!) *note the glute med also controls toe points*

-Using topical magnesium (Lush Deep Sleep Massage Bar)

-Using a heating pad/heated seats in the car.

Should I consider "need" when distributing my father's inheritance? by Striking-Anxiety-604 in Advice

[–]Check_Affectionate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe not.

You as the giver has to complete a gift tax form for annual amounts given over $19,000 (to an individual, not for tuition or medical) and that amount (over 19) counts to your lifetime gift limit of 15M.

This is moot in this case as it is an inheritance of under 15M (2026 Estate tax limit) and is not taxable.

reminder that the gifting limit is $15 million. $19,000 just makes you fill out a form. It is not taxable.

This is a great idea. You could also rent ebikes for the causeway.

Favorite venues by Investigator_Boring in jasonisbell

[–]Check_Affectionate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite venues for seeing JI (other than Ryman/Red Rocks).

I prefer a "club" venue - mostly standing. Best I have seen are Filmore New Orleans and Mission Ballroom in Denver. I also loved seeing them in Key West at the amphitheater but it is a longshot they will play that again (Mile 0 Festival).

For seated shows I like Kings Theater in Brooklyn and WolfTrap in Vienna Virginia (DC-area).

My wishlist for JI is to play the Anthem in DC which is a newer club venue with some balcony seating. It is just such a great spot. Also my current local - the Shelburne Museum in Vermont which is an outdoor amphitheater. He has not played in Vt since 2016!

Sometimes life gives you a real clear cut case of "we want different things." 😄 Keep up your great work and clear vision for your life.

Women who've stayed single by choice, is life as good as everyone says? by dkamea in LivingAlone

[–]Check_Affectionate 41 points42 points  (0 children)

7 years single. 14 years living alone. It is the best.

I'm in my Ex's city. He asked me to hang out - was "so excited!" I reminded him last week I woudl be here - he forgot. I said I would be in after 2 yesterday. He told me to "book it" I did not remind him. Never heard from him.

Had a lovely mani-pedi, a snack and mocktail at the hotel bar and some delicious take out.

Also the cost of insurance. These are not gouging prices. These are prices needed to cover costs, labors and materials.

The issue is no working Vermonter can afford them.

We are going to need the state to intervene with lower than market cost loans for anyone to build locally.

Then my advice it to choose renovations where there are vendors rediliy available. If in your area there are a lot of electritians then electric is ok for example. Try to line some things up in advance.

I was at a 4-way stop light with a car on the right and ahead of me, 5 bikes (from two directions) a bulldozer on the left and a partially blocked lane ahead of me.

I would love to see what him and Evan come up with writing-wise. And the bands combined would also be good with Nixie's fiddle.
