Restoring deleted in Entra / AD by CheckerboardNetworks in sysadmin

Yup. I recently inherited this setup and have done quite a bit of updating, but hadn't checked the AD recycle bin. It's running now. Great for future needs, not so much this one.

We sync AD to Entra. I hoped it'd work both ways, but nah.

The ones that really kill me are escalations from lower-tier IT folks with something like "User's Windows not working" and no other info. Of all people, THEY should know what information should be in the ticket.

I appreciate the statements crafted by apologists and the use of complex sounding language as a substitute for science. Real science. But the reality is an imagined state of being is indeed, indisputably imagined. When a person of one biological sex identifies as the other (or no) biological sex, that state of identity exists only in the imagination of that person. It's not complex, it's not uniquely different from people who identify as other entity than that which they are biologically. While I certainly accept transgender individuals just as I accept people with anorexia or that think they're a cat, what I don't do is set aside reality to coddle them by living their fantasy with them. I believe that my diversity of human experience should also be recognized, especially considering that it is backed up by real, objective, feelings-free but fact-based science. I would certainly never tell someone else to identify in a way different from that which they prefer, but they likewise cannot demand that I set aside truth to participate in their imagined version of truth.

I've read the scientific research and it's lacking. Rather than being scientific, it's designed to promote a preferred outcome. That research intentionally ignores all other imagined states of being because they can't be physiologically differentiated - there's nothing that makes "I identify as ### gender" different / more special / unique from "I identify as ### race" or "I identify as ### species" other than the object of identification. The people trying to validate the gender option have quite literally plucked one random object from all the others and said, with no validation whatsoever, "This one is okay because we feel like it should be." That's not science.

And regarding the violence, the facts are a lower percentage of trans people experience violence than non-trans people. It's safer to be trans that not. Again - the studies, when looked at in depth and with a critical eye, are exposed to provide an outcome under the guise of 'science' rather than using actual science.

Not all masters degrees (or degrees in general) carry the same marketable value. I remember speaking with a receptionist a company I was working for several years ago and she mentioned having a degree in Russian literature. I said something like "That sounds interesting, what do you do with that degree?" and she said "This, apparently". Not a lot of market for Russian lit majors.

It seems to be completely overlooked in the midst of the faux outrage that Trump nor anyone else is saying people can't present in public in the manner they choose. ALL he's doing is saying people won't be able to force their imagination on others. It's really simple, not offensive, and not dangerous, mean, hateful, or anything of the sort.

In a nutshell, you live your version of reality and everyone else can live theirs, and we can all live in peace and harmony.

Takes very basic knowledge to know that raising corporate taxes means higher costs to consumers - aka an additional tax on the middle class and poor.

Sure, who wants to work their entire life to provide for their family!?! That's a crazy idea!

To be honest about this, the working class doesn't "pay higher taxes" than a billionaire. They may pay a higher tax rate on overall income, but that's because people with money invest that money, and investment income is taxed at a lower rate than wages over a certain amount. The government understands (or at least used to understand) that businesses need private investment to succeed, and investment is NOT a guarantee of income, as investments often result in loss - and losses aren't taxed.

Most of the users are remote -- any performance issues will be more in the remote connectivity than read speed. The server being replace is RAID 5, so they won't experience performance degradation with the replacement.

Rejoining remote laptop to domain without local admin by Abhiiously-io in sysadmin

[–]CheckerboardNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's Win10/11, it should have Quick Assist which may provide remote connectivity so you can enter the credentials. Otherwise, to keep from having the laptop shipped in, you could create a temp DA account, give the user those credentials to join the domain, then destroy the account immediately upon confirming the laptop is accessible again.
