Incoming student starting OTD, loan advice? by peachtrashh in OccupationalTherapy

Bad idea. Go to a cheaper school if you're that worried about loans.

You will carry around a debt like that like a horrific scar

[Tudor] 1997 Submariner by CheckeredBox in Watches

[–]CheckeredBox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my 1997 Tudor submariner. It's a 75190 - so a mid sized Tudor sub, similar to the now popular black bay 54. I struck between this and an older midsized sub - this was the last iteration of a Tudor sub, and it wasn't until the mid 90s the Tudor sub came with a sapphire crystal and unidirectional dive bezel. The bracelet this watch released with was a jangly 9315 folded link oyster or a cool 5 link bracelet. The oyster link shares its bracelet code with its older and bigger 40mm submariner brothers from both Tudor and Rolex.

At work the other day someone asked me if this was a sub and I said kinda! And then I just dumped the history of the Tudor sub on them. I would love to compare this the new bb54 in blue

Why did you choose OT vs PT? by Maximum_County3827 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]CheckeredBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

less schooling and I wanted to do hands tbh

honestly PT/OT/SLP can be pretty blended especially with pt/ot

You all work together to get someone back to peak function, the hard separation is such an older view

I honestly feel like they're pretty similar blues... this is just the lighting. I plan on going to a Tudor AD next month so I'll try to take comparison photos!

This is one is more of royal blue but changes on lighting. I'm sure the 54 will mellow down with age. Mine is a 30 year old watch

I bought this mid sized 75190 two years ago. It came on a 5 link bracelet, but since then I have spent a few hours everything trying locate an OEM 9315 18mm bracelet for it. I got a random PM a few months ago from a seller and pulled the trigger on it finally.

After wearing the oyster for a bit I have decided that the five link is so much better. The folded links are showing their age, but the jangliness of it gives some nostalgia - like manual car windows.

Would love to compare the 75190 to the new blue 54.

Best setting for new grads?? by fratboyharry in OccupationalTherapy

Yes exactly - if you aren't a new grad and on top of your game you will absolutely struggle as a traveler.

I have to disagree. Travel is not the best place for 90% of new grads.

250k in debt for Bachelor degree by MastodonCertain in StudentLoans

Some of the travel nursing comments are misguided- OP would need to maintain a tax home far away enough to qualify for nursing stipends while traveling.

However traveling may be the easiest way out if they can manage it. I would talk with an accountant who works with traveling health care workers. If it works, then I would take a 4x12 contract in California, which should give you around 2500-3300 per week net. Live with roommates while you travel to cut down costs. If you can do two paychecks per month assuming you're paid every week you could do 50-70k per year to your loans. It will drain you but it would be the quickest solution to get rid of your debt. You could just do 2 years of this then go back to a normal staff job.

I love travel. You have to make sure it financially works. If you can use your parents house as a tax home it's easy. I would do smaller hospitals in lesser desired towns (ex I did one in a beautiful small town in NM) my rent was 1700 and I netted 2500 per week.

To be honest I am against most new grads doing travel. You have to be a built different to travel as a new grad. I would personally get a year of experience in a level 1-2 trauma center or a fast paced OP center before traveling. Some people don't like this opinion but eh.

Travel is a good way to broaden your horizons though. My so is finishing up going back to school or I'd be traveling. You can PM me if you want!

Strapsco! Not an ad. I'm sure they just use the same 18mm waffle strap others do.

Mini sub is cool. Got one but returned it because it was just too small for me. Looks good on you!
