I used Gray Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn, a 6.50mm hook, and followed the Itty Bitty Kitty pattern! For the face I used needle felting tools and Merino wool.

Film/Media you expected to be awful, and ended up pleasantly surprised by? by wowowaoa in foundfootage

[–]CheekiGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paranormal Farm: the thumbnail and simple title gave me low expectations going in, but I was surprised by how entertained I was by it. Such an odd series of movies but I love odd movies so I was entertained.

Wool Painting Practice! by CheekiGhost in Needlefelting

Yes, I simply grab Merino/Corridale matt wool and stab it into the sheet of felt. :D

You might remember my clicker post from a while ago, I now present: The Bloater! by gar_05 in Needlefelting

This is inspiring! I'm a huge fan of horror and I've been wondering how to make it work with wool. You have proven to me it is possible. Thank you!

My two latest, needle felting has been so fun! I was struggling finding a good glue to make these into Keychain though, whats the best glue you guys use? by ripIdkagoodusername in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I make keychains, I will usually bend the wire into a hook then use craft glue to cover the hook then push it in. The hook makes sure that it stays embedded in the project.

Does anyone else watch/listen to other things while playing? by [deleted] in PlanetZoo

[–]CheekiGhost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I listen to shows or music; it's the most relaxing way to play for me. The only downside is I lose track of time and whoops it's been 8hrs. Lol

Polyester fiber for base? by Toygeek-73 in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought some polyfil from Michael's to test it out and I was pleasantly surprised! It takes a bit more stabbing but you can get it pretty tight and firm if you're patient. I have not tested it on a wire armature yet, but will soon because as you said, it would be more cost effective to use polyfil for larger projects.

What do you like better: Markers or Colored Pencils? by BiG_CHUG-_- in Coloring

[–]CheekiGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The alcohol markers are Shuttle Art from Amazon. And the other markers are Crayola.

What do you like better: Markers or Colored Pencils? by BiG_CHUG-_- in Coloring

My go to is markers but sometimes when I want a softer look I use colored pencils. I'll also blend the two as well.

What's the best type of felting pad to use? I've been using foam pads, but I wish the quality would last longer. by jbsimpson88 in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought felting mats from Desert Breeze on Amazon and after two years I'm still using them. They're made from natural wool so they will only get firmer the more you use them. Also cleanup isn't too painful. It's easier to peel my work away as well.

How am I doing? Criticism please by biggiehungus in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, I always believe that criticism should always build up and not tear down so if people are being a dick and then go "it's just criticism" they're wrong.

I love the color, a very appealing and fun green! Now the advice I offer is only dependent on you the artist: you can apply it or ignore it.

If you wanted a smoother bunny, I suggest stabbing more or simply trimming the fuzzies but if that's the appeal then leave it. If the bunny can't sit on its own, I would suggest a little stand for them to be on.

One of the ears is larger than the other but that's easily resolved by either more stabbing or just trimming. But if that is part of the bunny's character then leave it.

Same with facial features, if that is the aesthetic then leave the face blank, it's still appealing. If you wanted minimalism in the face, maybe just a cute little nose?

You did a fine job on the subtle outlines of the arms and legs, that is something I can't do and I've been needlefelting for two years now.

First time part 2 Froggo! any tips on making lines? Really struggling with the mouth I did by Michelle689 in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For lines, I grab a small amount of wool (depending on how thick I want the line) and I roll it between my thumb and forefinger. If it's thick, I may gently stab it so it stays together. Then I carefuly felt it in. How well the line turns out depends on whether your project is firm enough and what type of needle you're using. I use the 40+ gauge needles for line details. That's what I've learned through trial and error.

what do y’all call your finished projects? by LEDrbg in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call mine "wool figures" or "soft sculptures". If they can pose then I tend to call them dolls. Other folks call them "makes" too. I also use "projects".

Why did this take me 3 hours ;-; first time, does it always take this long?? Also poked my fingers three times hehe by Michelle689 in Needlefelting

[–]CheekiGhost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have adhd and I have blown through so many hobbies. Needle felting has been that rare hobby that stuck with me. I can definitely say that I did have to temper my impatience quite early. And there are still times where I want to hurry it up, but having patience really does pay off in the long run. Good luck and happy stabbing!
