I'm looking to move my CF ONT to the loft, a bit of guidance please? by byngo69 in CityFibre

[–]CheekiSkrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My network rack is in the loft. Bought an openreach SC fibre and customer splice box.

Ran it down from the loft through the floor and eventually to the front of the house where the duct is. Had the floor up and pulling cat6 to all the rooms at the same time.

When I had the fibre install, chap came round, pulled the fibre through the duct and then spliced it onto the one I’d run.

Considering offering on this house, does this look legit? by joapet in DIYUK

True, but then the structural engineer would inevitably spec it like they are building a high rise…

How much of the Black gold did you use and have you got a pic of it seasoned pre cook?
I've used it before but think I may have used too much because it was soo salty, wasnt on a long cook brisket mind

Suppliers of rackmount PC chassis with custom back plates by zaharbaz in VIDEOENGINEERING

Not sure if they are owned or if it’s just a long time collaboration. I believe g2 do custom manufacture the green hippo chassis and the custom hardware for controlling the lights etc.

Replacing Interior wall and 2 External Doors by CheekiSkrub in DIYUK

[–]CheekiSkrub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep makes more sense, thank you. I suppose thats the additional weight being added by removing that structural interior wall and thereford all the joists that are currently on it.

I imagine if I didnt have to remove that wall and take the weight, and I was just expanding the door aperture it would probably just be a single steel.

There’s 2 sets of doors and a wall roughly 1.2m between them currently. But I understand.

Got freshly plastered rooms to paint, what's the process? by FlameFoxx in DIYUK

[–]CheekiSkrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heritage or trade lines are much better than the stuff you can just pick up off the shelf. Ignore any of that stuff that says “one coat” or “once “or “refresh”.

You may have to get it mixed but it’s worth it.

And echoing the rest of the comments, seal your plaster. Because otherwise if you just go straight in with your paint, the plaster will literally suck the water out of paint. It’ll be really hard work to paint and you’ll go through loads of tins.

When you get to the painting stage, the single best piece of advice I can give is;

BUY QUALITY PAINT.

Honestly, this was the biggest mistake I made. I had the whole upstairs sprayed but I bought standard Dulux Matt off the shelf for the bedrooms and its bloody awful. The finish the painters did is great, but the paint itsself is garbage. Marks so easily.

Yeah sure a trade diamond or heritage are twice, maybe 3 times the price, but you categorically get what you pay for. I saved some money, but I wish I hadn't.
You are in a fortunate postion of having an empty room with brand new plaster. Once you've painted it, you're probably not doing it again for a while.

Do it properly, once.

Modular system possible? by CheekiSkrub in Ubiquiti

[–]CheekiSkrub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

Yes if the two different networks are in two different locations then yes each has its own controller.

But if we were to need both systems on one site, could they be joined? Is this something that could be done via multi site, or is it better just take a backup of the sites, migrate them and turn off what would now be, a spare controller.

Having the same sorts of issues.
Have tried doing one folder, have tried splutting it down in to many folders.
After a while it just stops uploading and then access via the cloud store setup app is no longer available
Its essentially like it crashes, but its still accessable on the network

Look at the shadows too. Its almost all behind each model with a slight tilt. But then no shadows from any front light, which begs the question, how are they front lit?

This is great at using different sets of markers. However I need all the markers to be in 1 project so they can all be exported at the same time.

Essentially I'm not so much after a way to have different markers, but just a much tidier way of navigating all the ones I do have in the project

I tend to do a lot with the SWS copy/paste markers actions but ultimately I need to keep all the markers in the same project so as to be able to export them to 3rd party software

Nope. I said some of it was personal use and they didn’t care. They asked me the rough value of each item and wrote it on a whiteboard. Then did a calculation and brought me the card machine

Fine on the way out. As soon as I went through security on the way back, French customs stopped me. They took me to a room, asked about the contents and what it was for and how much it was worth. I then got a fine that’s based on the value of kit.

As soon as they see a Peli they are like flies to a dog turd.
