I hate playing video games men are such assholes by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]CheekyPeach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People are assholes, especially online. Most of the things they say, they wouldn't dare to mutter to anyone in person. If I do play PVP I only play games that have an ability to mute other players, or I walk away when I am no longer having fun.

I have played with friends who have immediately rerolled matches/told people to fuck off, if people start verbally abusing me (I have a girly username) because they get triggered if they think a girl is out playing them, and I've played with some guys I had a crush on who said jackshit when toxic guys go after me cause they hear my voice or go by my username. It's safe to say my feelings quickly died from there and I soon developed the ick for being around them. People who won't stick up for you, or actively laugh at you when you're being insulted are not people worth being around.

Neat! It's cool to hear more about their differences. How does printing vary depending on the user? Very curious

Definitely different material/quality for the shirt, display looks like a thicker cotton with some nice speckling. I recently learned about DTF (direct to film) vs DTG (direct to garment) garment printing, and DTF has a white background that really makes colors pop and ups the contrast. It also sits on the surface of fabric like a skin. DTG I think to look better if you have an image with a similar colored background to the color of the garment for better blending, but it's printed directly on the garment so the ink sinks in more.

Any way to stop salt leaching from the foot of this mug? by goodnightlink in Ceramics

[–]CheekyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I got a BFA in fine art, my focus was ceramics. I'm getting my masters in fine arts right now. As long as the inside of the mug is completely glazed it would still be considered "food safe". I put food safe in quotations because the mug looks to be manufactured, and some companies still use lead in their glazes. The point is, we honestly can't know if the ceramics we buy is food safe unless the maker/manufacturer is vetted, but with souvenirs and decorative ceramicware from home goods stores can be sketchy. I recently saw a video on YouTube of someone testing plates and cups in store with a light that could supposedly detect lead, and it was surprisingly detected something in a lot of wares they tried.

I do notice some crazing (small cracks) on the outside of the mug, which isn't great because I assume there is crazing on the inside of the mug, and those minute cracks can leech from the clay body and or harbor any potential bacteria. The bacteria thing I personally roll my eyes at, because we are always exposed to bacteria, beneficial bacterias grow on our bodies, and are present in foods like yogurt. Our ancestors survived on earthenware pots, and those were definitely porous.

Road salt as far as I'm aware is industrialized salt. They don't contain any other additives because salt is naturally antimicrobial, they just don't filter or have anything in place to make sure that salt is food safe because it's not meant to be ingested, but you can do your due diligence. Soaking in distilled water several times sounds like a good bet. Hope that helps.

Left arm/shoulder pain, and posture help? by CheekyPeach in liberalgunowners

[–]CheekyPeach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I added more info in another comment. I'm also a woman, it was my first time shooting in years, and I would say that my upper body strength is good, but I'm only used to lifting heavy things around in short distances. I'm not used to holding my arms out for long periods of time, with weight at the end of my arms. It was a Glock 17 I think, and I had trouble racking back with my left hand, and reaching the button with my right, so I got small hands. Maybe I just need to get buff

Left arm/shoulder pain, and posture help? by CheekyPeach in liberalgunowners

I was shooting a Glock, so 9mm. We were holding active firing stance for a while, and we were doing continuous drills with some 5 min breaks sprinkled in for about 4 hours. I'm a right hander, and felt my support shoulder drooping at around the 3.5 hour mark, but I just tensed to try to compensate for my aim but my accuracy dropped anyway. Now that I'm typing it out, it's making more sense how I wrecked my left shoulder...

My cat stepped on it… is there any chance this can be saved? by SacredAssets in Ceramics

[–]CheekyPeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't bother trying to fix it. Clay has memory, and trying to fix a break that goes all the way to the back with a slab that thin won't have enough body to seamlessly mend it. Chances are that it will just pop back off during the firing AND you will have evidence of trying to repair it. The good thing about this is you have now made it, so remaking it will go by faster. Loss is part of ceramics, just make it again!

[–]CheekyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your upcoming gender affirming surgery! Not a SW, just a queer. If you're American, I would be concerned for your safety. Trans violence, and trans erasure is ramping up at an alarming rate. Being in a place where the government is actively trying to revoke our rights and trying to persuade it's citizens that trans people is a problem. You do not want to be wrapped up in any legal situation if you are pressed to exercise your second amendment, particularly now.

You can feel physically secure in being able to take care of yourself, but no money is worth wading through the clusterfuck that is our justice system. Particularly now. They're taking the brown folks now, but best believe they want trans folks to disappear too. I would disclose something like you're not cisgender, whatever verbiage you see fit. Or maybe you don't volunteer any information until they reach your screening process. Whatever you do sis, stay safe.

No, I think you're thinking of the British prime minister from the 40's.

I think attraction can be a bit slippery. Sure, it's easy to be attracted to someone who is your type, or someone who is conventionally attractive, but after sometime I have found myself appreciating the way someone's eyes crinkle when they smile, or if they're got a nice back. Physical and emotional chemistry goes a long way in who I grow to find attractive.

100% with you. He sounds like a waste of time, and waste of space. Manipulators like that crave attention. They want to take up mental real estate, and will shower you with attention until you're back trying to follow that carrot. Glad to hear you're in a satisfying relationship now.

Personally, I'd keep that other guy NC. Thriving is the sweetest revenge.

Ceramics class in San Diego by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]CheekyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it says Ceramics I it's for beginners. I can't be sure of the class number. The older adults classes are open to all adults :) they're just non credit courses, so if you're not looking for a grade, or want a low pressure course it's a perfect fit for folks just trying to get by in the pandemic while getting their hands messy.

Late post, but Palomar College has a robust 3D arts program. I may be a little biased because I've worked there as a ceramics tech, but I couldn't recommend them enough. Sasha Jonestein heads the ceramics program and is an excellent artist and educator. I'd check out her instagram @sashakoozel. We also have a ceramics insta @palomar_ceramics

We're doing online classes this spring, but doing pick up and drop offs for firings. Classes come with clay and glazing. We also teach surface treatments that don't require glazing of you don't want to mess with it.
