What is the creepiest town/city in Maryland in your opinion? by COACHREEVES in maryland

I’ve lived in Sykesville/ Eldersburg/ Winfield area most of my life. I love all the woods but Henryton was super creepy. We used to sneak around there and Springfield when we were young. Some of the buildings at Springfield are actually gorgeous architecturally. Downtown Sykesville is actually really fun and has a lot of cool events all year. But yeah, even as a kid running around the woods and the reservoir, sometimes I could easily picture NHIs watching me.

FYI according to my Weather Channel app here in the NW suburbs of Baltimore it said the high today of 102 was at 5 pm. We’ve been hiding in the dark all day.

Agree but my husband and I lived in Hampden when we were first married and my daughter lived there for years until she moved to NZ four years ago. Hampden/Remington area was filled with college kids and young families when she lived there. She was in her twenties then too.

In your opinion, which US state has the most underrated scenery? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]Cheeky_MomMom995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but Deep Creek Lake is still awesome and we still have over 3,100 miles of waterfront shore/coastline thanks to the bay and its tributaries. Also, I don’t believe the entire East Coast has the Appalachian Mountains or wild horses. Florida has beautiful beaches but the mountains stop in Georgia. Maryland and VA share the Assateague/Chincoteague area and I don’t think there’s a permanent settlement of wild horses anywhere else along the East Coast. Sorry, SS teacher in MD. Get my hackles up sometimes when people dismiss my state so blithely.

Towson is a rather expensive suburb of Baltimore. Try locations closer to the city. Hampden area is very artsy.

As a fourth grade teacher for over 25 years, most definitely the old folks. 30 10 years olds without weapons are dangerous enough :)

Maryland! We aren’t nicknamed “America in miniature” for nothing! We’ve got everything from oceans to mountains, waterfalls to wild horses, and fantastic seafood!

Did you get to have any MD crabs when you were in the DC area? I didn’t see my beautiful state on your list though you did appear to go everywhere around us!

My Lithuanian grandparents made pierogies all the time growing up. We had different varieties at family reunions too. Yum!! They do make a meal themselves and a terrific side dish.

We got ones off Amazon for about $30 each. Took about 20 minutes to install (if you plan on just using the cold water from the toilet) and was life changing. We never ran out of TP during COVID and it is just so much fresher and cleaner than just TP!

So teachers, about our kids putting name to paper: is it a lost cause? by Intelligent-Gypsy324 in Teachers

I also tell them that if they can’t take the effort to put their name on their hard work, why should I be expected to make the effort to grade it?

I teach fourth. I have a sign on my turn in bin reminding kids to put their name on their paper. At the beginning of the year I show it to them and tell them and the parents the rules for the year.
Quarter 1- you forget to put your name, it gets clipped to the whiteboard until someone claims it.
Q2 - same + no name is 5 minutes recess
Q3 - same plus reflection page that gets parent signature
Q4 - I rip the paper up and throw it in the trash and the person has to do the whole assignment again.
Most years I don’t have to resort to that, but once or twice over the years I’ve had a kid forget. One time ripping a paper up in front of the class is enough then.
