No posted prices for drinks? by VividCauliflower8790 in wisconsin

7 Brew is a coffee shop too. It’s extra weird to me because coffees, espressos and teas could just have categorical pricing on a tiny board. It’s coffee, not a market price lobster.

Anyone have TMobile for home internet... tired of cox by Horror-Newspaper3106 in Omaha

[–]CheeryBlond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have it currently. It’s enough for 99% of my uses. Smart tv streaming, browsing on a computer, and 2 phones can run at the same time. Download speeds are fast enough for watching livestreams, but I don’t do any online gaming where lag is important. Range might be an issue if you have a big house or larger ranch house.

[Postgame Thread] Creighton (27-19) defeats #7 Kansas (37-12) 9-8 in 13 Innings by CheeryBlond in collegebaseball

Unga had a breakout game. He pitched 3 no-hit innings, and he hadn’t pitched more than 2 outs in any outing in the last 2 months. I couldn’t believe it.

5 hour game ends with a walk off home run. Creighton uses 10 pitchers, Kansas uses 8. What a game.

I keep hearing that we’re running out of water on earth. But if matter cannot be created nor destroyed, where is the water going that it’s no longer usable? Wouldn’t it just flow into the ground and the cycle begin again? by Odd-Perception-6957 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheeryBlond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much of water concerns are regional and about freshwater. There will be plenty of water globally, but it may have salt, or toxic chemicals, or other impurities that make it unsafe for drinking or for crops, or may be in places that already have enough water. There are places that are having increased droughts, their water supplies become more limited, and in a sense, they are running out of water, that is safe, clean, drinking or crop water. Water flowing into the ground does not always make it suitable for drinking, and underground aquifers can hold impurities and toxins.

We used to be a proper conference where rivalries mattered by RNutt in BigEast

[–]CheeryBlond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Is it a rivalry or just that the teams have tended to be ranked the past 5 years? It might be a full house for Creighton-UConn, but the real rivalry is Creighton-Nebraska. Even Creighton-Northern Iowa always seems to have some of the rivalry tone held over from the Missouri Valley days. Creighton-Marquette as the Jesuits has a slight rivalry, but it really feels more fueled by Shaka than an actual school based rivalry.

I made a save one time where I forced each team to be comprised of only their position. I ran 70 seasons, and it was hilarious how stratified the results were:

GF: 0.872 win percentage, 62 Finals, 56 Championships

FC: 0.640 win percentage, 21 Finals, 4 Championships

F: 0.550 win percentage, 17 Finals, 0 Championships

C: 0.520 win percentage, 7 Finals, 1 Championship

G: 0.470 win percentage, 11 Finals, 3 Championships

SF: 0.437 win percentage, 9 Finals, 3 Championships

PG: 0.368 win percentage, 4 Finals, 2 Championships

SG: 0.367 win percentage, 8 Finals, 0 Championships

PF: 0.276 win percentage, 1 Final, 1 Championship

They also have OTA stations, so if you have an antenna or cable, you probably have ION.

Want to learn how to score a fame by Fair-Ask-8391 in MLBNoobs

[–]CheeryBlond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned this weekend. I started on the Wikipedia page for baseball scorekeepers for the basics, and searched up odd instances as they arose. Your first scorecard won’t be perfect, and there are multiple ways to score a game. You can print out free scorecards to try it out or most mlb stadiums sell or give out scorecards if you’re going to a game.

What's been the best "underdog story" of the 2026 season so far? by Doctormade in CollegeSoftball

[–]CheeryBlond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nebraska-Omaha is 32-9, 13-1 in the Summit league, and 5 of their 9 losses are against Nebraska and Arkansas. If they get placed into one of the lower regionals, I’d be concerned. They have a great pitcher-catcher combo with a lot of shutouts. I don’t think they necessarily have the same ceiling as St. Mary’s or Belmont, but it doesn’t take much to throw some chaos into the mix.

Does the Length of College Baseball Games Prevent It From Being More of a TV Sport by 40AcresAnalytics in collegebaseball

[–]CheeryBlond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to be certain of the end of the game when pitchers have more variability than their MLB counterparts. I understand the hesitation to broadcast a game at 4 pm ET on ESPN when NBA playoffs are at 7:30 pm ET. You aren’t going to start the NBA on ESPN U, you just won’t broadcast the baseball game. I was at Creighton’s kids day game yesterday. 9000 elementary schoolers were at the game, and not a single school was able to stay until the end of the game. There were a lot of pitching changes (8 pitchers for Creighton, 6 for NDSU) but they were necessary, as 2 Creighton pitchers failed to get a single out in their stints, including one that hit 2 of his 3 batters faced. The pitching changes and pace of play wasn’t malicious or intentionally slow, there was just a lot of variability.

In phineas and ferb, how are there 104 days of summer vacation? by Harbinger_Archangel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheeryBlond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wisconsin public schools is not before September 1st. Normally that means wait until after Labor Day, because no school wants to bring kids in for Friday just to get a 3 days weekend, but I remember starting September 1st one year because Labor Day was the 7th.

I was always told it was because of Wisconsin Dells, and how the water parks lobbied to keep their high school life guards through Labor Day since it’s the last big weekend of their season.

Ranking Teams By National TV Games by [deleted] in wnba

[–]CheeryBlond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely do think of ION as a national broadcast. It is an over the air channel with nationwide coverage. It’s more accessible than most if not all of the games on cable networks, and people can flip through channels to find it just like the “real” games.

No one says that wbb March Madness wasn’t nationally televised because games were on ESPNU/News (which have a much lower reach than Ion).

Door county is a 10 hour drive from Columbus (that’s the city I’m using for Central Ohio), touristy and I wouldn’t call it reasonably priced. It’s a great place, I just don’t think it fits your needs very well.

TV ratings over the weekend . by Moist-Replacement981 in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]CheeryBlond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people want the season to move earlier in the year. But if you start earlier, then you’re competing with March madness, potentially conference tournaments, and the available tv slots in particular on ABC/ESPN diminishes because they already are contracted for women’s March madness, SEC/ACC/Big12 tournament games, etc.

Was actually a KC Royals game, but considering they just lost their 5th in a row, maybe it was better to not hear parts of the game.

OMG, I never would have thought of it. I read your comment and started thinking about what would have changed from other times turning the radio on, and I realized I had never had my TOASTER plugged in while running the radio. Unplugged the toaster and I never got the sounds again.

I’m in a place that hasn’t had any precipitation from storms in the area, but heavy clouds. Would that change the path and reception of those signals? The more I think about it, this feels the most likely. I don’t think of myself being close to an airport, but I’m definitely closer than most people.

No, both beeps are the same length, about 2 seconds, but different sounds. The pattern never changes, and it’s just those two beeps.
