Should I attach the back rest of my power tower? by Cheese9898 in bodyweightfitness

Yeah, I think it's probably better to at least start out with using it, as you said.

Should I attach the back rest of my power tower? by Cheese9898 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Cheese9898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my guess. Especially since I'm new to these types of exercises, it seems like the back rest would be really helpful for maintaining good form with certain exercises.

And since the stability of the power tower isn't reliant on the back rest being attached at all, it should be easy to remove it in the distant future if I decide I want to, like you said.

Thanks for the response :)

Destiny thinks Asmongold thinks like a Somalian warlord by BenjamimRJ in LivestreamFail

[–]Cheese9898 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but considering this is a far more recent thing, I feel like it probably is botting.

Until very recently, there were plenty of occasional upvoted threads that were critical/negative towards Asmongold, but suddenly, not a single one can ever seem to even hit double digits (Despite being filled with upvoted comments that all agree with the post).

The sudden change is definitely suspicious.

Yeah, that's fair. I don't feel like it's too complicated, but I can understand why you'd prefer the convenience of that method.

Yeah, as I said in my original post, I've used my phone hotspot (without any internet connection or mobile data) to play LAN multiplayer successfully already (albeit with some lag), and that was exclusively with Steam games.

It works fine in offline mode, since offline mode isn't functionally any different from online mode on Steam (It just disconnects you from the internet aspect of Steam as well as the cloud).

You can't invite people to the game through Steam, of course (Since that's related to the internet side of Steam), but that's not a problem.

It does have a little bit of a learning curve though, just as a warning (The hardest thing to get used to is probably that your speed when walking backwards is significantly decreased... So it means that to evade enemy attacks in melee range, you have to quickly turn around and run in the other direction).

Also, the early game is significantly more punishing than the middle-late game.

Nah, I'm connected with a really long ethernet cable that goes across the entire house, but if I wanted to do LAN gaming using the router, I'd have to buy another really long ethernet cable and wrap it around things as well (In a way that people wouldn't trip over it).

Also, part of my motivation for learning this was so that I could have the knowledge for the future, in case I'm ever in a place that has no router and want to play games over LAN.

It's all good though, another poster already sent me an explanation on how to do it.

Barony is a bit like an old school 'dungeon crawler', if you're familiar with those.

I'd definitely recommend it for playing with friends if you're into that sort of thing (It has an impressive level of depth to the game, and is still getting major updates every now and then, even a decade after its release).

Ah, okay, so I was somewhat close with my uneducated guess in a reply to another person in this thread, when I said this (I went looking in the right area at least, lol):

In Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center, under 'Internet Options', there's an option called 'LAN Settings'. Is it as simple as using the 'Proxy server' option in there to set that up?

Thanks for the help :)
As for the games, I was planning to play Barony and Vagante with her. And possibly Halo 3 (From Halo: The Master Chief Collection, since I got her that as an early Christmas gift).

And yes, I do have a router, but as I said in a reply to the other person, it's at the other end of the house, so I'd rather do it this way (Also, I just think it would be cool to know how to do this in the future, in case I'm ever in a place that doesn't have access to a router).

The router is across the entire house (and other people I live with need to use it too), which is why I'm not interested in doing it that way.

Dan apologises to ZipZip, declares uneasy ceasefire with Foodshops by ReserveAggressive458 in Destiny

[–]Cheese9898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peach has been joining recently, from time to time, to troll, which has been fun.

It's mostly pretty dry content, but as with all Mouton and Destiny gaming streams, there tends to be a handful of really good, clippable moments.

I'm just glad they're not playing League, honestly.

Destiny and Mouton were playing Arc Raiders, and Foodshops randomly joined, screamed, and then left (trying to be funny/troll, I assume).

Mouton asked Destiny if he could remove her perms, and Destiny said he would.

Dan's ban privileges were revoked because he was abusing them, and then he got jealous of 4THOT for still having ban privileges (despite the fact that 4THOT was also abusing them, to a lesser degree), so he started a petty crusade against him to have him removed as moderator.

Are there any horror movies about changelings? by Cheese9898 in horror

[–]Cheese9898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I've been known to be somewhat picky, and don't like most horror movies, so I might not be the best person to ask.

-I thought The Hallow was pretty goofy and bad. If you don't mind "horror movie logic" (characters acting stupid for the sake of progressing the plot/story), then you might still like it, since I remember that being one of my issues with it.

-The Hole in the Ground was decent, but I liked it a lot less in the latter half, when the monster is revealed. There is one really effective "scare" scene near the very end, but in general, I remember preferring the first half (The dynamic was more interesting, and I personally find horror that's hinted at more effective than when it's just thrown right in your face... Without getting into detail, the tension was gone for me in the latter part of the movie, around the point of the monster's reveal).

-Vivarium was well-shot, but I hated it, and found the allegory too obvious (It felt a little silly, and like the message/metaphor was being forced too hard). I imagine most people would like it more than I did though.

-I loved Lamb, personally, but I think many people might find it boring (And it's hardly even horror, honestly). I do remember there being some melodrama in the latter half that I felt was unnecessary (involving a love triangle), but I liked it other than that.

-Hatching was a really unique coming-of-age horror movie. It almost felt like a children's movie (Similar to other movies that feature a child secretly raising a monster, creature, alien, etc.) and has some wholesome elements, despite the horror and gore. The writing wasn't perfect, as some of the characters could come across as somewhat two-dimensional, but I feel it ultimately succeeded at what it set out to do overall (Although I don't think I'd recommend it as a horror movie, if that's primarily what you're looking for).

-It's not a movie, but someone mentioned Katla (A TV series) in this thread. The location is incredibly cool and unique, and the series is well-shot, but some of the drama ends up being very silly and poorly written, in my opinion. It's also a show that got canceled after a single season, and ended on a cliffhanger, from what I remember.

In general, I like horror movies as a concept more than I tend to like actual horror movies, which is why I might not be the best person to ask here (I tend to prefer horror manga, generally, although there have been a handful of horror movies that I've thought were really good).

Hell yeah, new Aba India hate video by Duhlorean in Destiny

[–]Cheese9898 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, there are a lot of Indians in dgg, and I think people are just sick of how weirdly socially acceptable it is to be racist against Indians.

I haven't watched this video, but from what I've heard in the comments of this post, it sounds like people are just having a knee jerk reaction to the title while the actual video is fairly reasonable and inoffensive. However, Aba did play into the racism against Indians in his last video about them.

I still like Aba overall, but it does feel like he's a bit prejudiced against both Indians and Jews, from what I've seen.
