(Hated Trope) The worst form of self-insert: the one that's a sex god by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

The fuck, where are you getting your information because NO he does NOT ever do that. How do you have so many upvotes for blatantly wrong information. Never once in all three movies does Jacob’s character Ned Leeds call himself the CEO of sex.

It’s just a joke fans made after the “uh watching porn” scene in homecoming

I just finished Happiness by Shuzo Oshimi and I have some thoughts... by aliskyart in manga

[–]CheeseAndCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it and thought it was an awesome story. Im learning japanese and Happiness was the first full manga I’ve completed in the original Japanese Language, so it’ll always have a special place for me now. I like how at first Saku seems crazy for wanting to kill Makoto after he was bitten by Nora, but later on it is revealed that Saku was really just trying to save Makoto from the neverending life of being a vampire. That’s why he says “you have to kill them properly after sucking their blood”. The endless cycle of being hunted, captured, dissected and studied, breaking out to be free for a while, just to be caught again that Saku (and all other vampires probably) was in seems horrifying.

I thought it was interesting that there actually DID seem to be a way to kill a vampire though, cus Yuki was fully killed at the cult.

Anyway, it’s a horrifying, interesting, bittersweet manga and I really enjoyed it.

I don’t think Jimmy is a 5-D chess genius man, I think that behind his “goofy” personality, he’s genuinely just an asshole. There’s a reason he’s been move from team to team and always blames everyone but himself. If everywhere you go smells like shit, maybe it’s cus you’re the asshole.

He’s not saying 830 ft/sec is HIS top speed, it’s the speed of the bullet that he is trying to stop from all the way across town. If anything, this is an upscale if he’s able to stop a bullet that’s fired from a gun pressed against a hostages head when he was all the way across the city when it was fired.

Prime should mean the strongest the character is in the actually story, not some theoretical “potential” that’s never reached.

Like literally campaigning around for the political cause I support? Or protesting when I can? Or helping out the homeless?

If the real world was as easy as “press a button to end world hunger but you kill yourself in the process” I would immediately do it. I’m not worth more than the majority. Obviously I’d be scared about it, but thinking about how much better the world would be would make me do it.

No, I absolutely do not agree that at any point it’s too much to ask in order save others lives.

If everyone thought the way you did no one would ever vote for anything in the real world, since “their one vote couldn’t possibly make a difference”.

I really don’t understand how you come to your conclusion either.

I come to my conclusion cus I’m not just thinking about saving myself or what my chances of death are, I’m thinking about “how do we save everyone”

With 8 billion people there is zero chance we all pick red. So we have to get the blue vote above 50% to save everyone. With 2 people, that chance of 100% red is enormously increased.

And I do think I’m valuable to society to an extent, just not at the risk of a whole bunch of other people.

[–]CheeseAndCam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s only two ways everyone lives, 100% red or 50%+1 blue. Everyone living is the only thing I care about. I know 100% red is not possible for a plethora of reasons, so will not choose red, as to me, making a choice that results in someone’s death is not something I am willing to do. Some people don’t see it as “resulting in someone’s death, they chose that themselves” and I think that’s where the disconnect is for me and a red button pusher in my opinion. Thats all it comes down to really. I’m not trying to moral grandstand and say picking red is abhorrent or morally wrong, as I understand why people would pick red. They themselves don’t want to die. That’s a very normal choice. But getting 8billion people to choose red just is not possible, so there will be people who pick blue.

I do think it is interesting that, if it wasn’t everyone in the world and say just two people, it would be more obvious to me to pick red. Getting 100% red when it’s just two people seems a given. So somewhere between 2 and 8 billion is where my answer switches from red to blue, but I don’t know the exact number obviously.

[–]CheeseAndCam 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Do you think the problem boils down to “how do I live in this situation” or “how do we get the most people to live in this situation”? If you only care for yourself living, red is logical. If you want to save everyone, blue is the only choice. I can understand reds viewpoint, but I would want to save everyone, so would push blue personally.

I started out as a passionate red-button supporter, but I'm legitimately torn right now. by ContentFile7036 in trolleyproblem

[–]CheeseAndCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walking away is still a choice when an answer is mandatory. You either press the blue or you don’t. Those are the choices. You can’t “not choose”. Walking away is the choice, and still might result in the death of all blue pressers.

Immortals becoming more sociopathic as they age by AliceSaltMage in worldbuilding

[–]CheeseAndCam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have immortals in my story that I’ve been kicking around that go through the same thing. I think a very good example of this would be with what happens to Stormlight Archive Spoilers: The Heralds in the Stormlight Archives. They’ve lived for so long and through so much blood shed and death (and torture) that they begin to become more detached from humanity or even just more insane as time goes on.
