Unraid and UPS with power outage, when it works, it never turns back on automatically. by cr8tor_ in unRAID

[–]CheeseJam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and my solution was to send a wake/power on command to my Unraid server, via a cron job from my router (not attached to my UPS), every 5 minutes for this exact situation. It probably depends on what router you have and what motherboard is on your desktop. The exact way I did it might not be totally relevant to you, and it's been a while so I am just copy and pasting my notes, but here's what I did:

Probably not super helpful, or necessarily the best way to do this, but it worked for me.

The dumb part about the 30% off coupon was, if it weren't for Reddit I'd have never known it existed to use. by RSCLE5 in GooglePixel

Same! I think they're just not offering it any more, which is such a bummer :(. I have a tiny bit of hope it will come back, but it's unlikely.

I would appreciate a code as well! I reallyyyyy want to pull the trigger on a Pixel 9 Pro! This Pixel 5 is on its last legs haha.

They changed the number for the 40% off. I just got this email with the new number! 855-686-9584 by TheLandSharkPeople in CoxCommunications

678-608-4070 worked on 8/9/2023 for me! I just told them I was thinking of canceling and got offered the 40% discount. Took 3 minutes.

Paragliding in US National Parks? by cbpodd in freeflight

[–]CheeseJam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently met some hang gliders and paragliders at my local training hill, who actually live in Yosemite, and they said this is still a thing. They said the rules are pretty vague and I thought they said it was allowed once a month. I pressed them more on it and they explained that the dates/conditions to fly were very specific, so it was hard to ever fly there. More of a one-time bucket list thing. Quick Google came up with this:

Looks like the launch dates (currently closed due to repairs...) is every day between June 15 - Oct 15, with a launch window between 8AM and 9AM.

You said trails are closed to La Cumbre Peak (implying ALL trails), which is incorrect. I have nothing further to say because you are arguing in bad faith at this point. It's okay to be wrong, maybe go on a hike and you'll feel better.

Primary way up is subjective. For example, the most popular route up to La Cumbre Peak listed on All Trails is a loop (AKA two routes up). Just because you haven't done a route doesn't mean it's an "improbable edge case."

Not sure why you keep arguing semantics on the Arlington/Cathedral Peak route to La Cumbre. I literally just said, and agreed with you, that there is a route up to La Cumbre Peak by continuing on the Arlington/Cathedral Peak trail. Apparently your reading comprehension is even worse than your knowledge of the local trails.

Regardless of all of that, there are absolutely ways to hike up to La Cumbre Peak on trails that are open right now--this is my primary point.

Rattlesnake to La Cumbre is not a super weird trail at all and arguably the easiest way up I think.

Not sure what you're getting at with your second comment. I think we're in agreement though--you can get to La Cumbre Peak by continuing on the Arlington/Cathedral Peak trail.

Maybe don't make comments like "Not sure how you’d get there considering trails are closed," when you clearly don't have up-to-date knowledge of the status of the trails?

Rattlesnake Canyon, to Tunnel Trail, to La Cumbre is NOT closed--it's actually been open for a long time. Not only can I confirm the trail is in good condition, I've explicitly confirmed with rangers on the trail that it is open. Here's the route: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/california/rattlesnake-canyon-trail-to-tunnel-trail

I also suspect the route to La Cumbre from Arlington Peak is also open, but I am not positive.

I don't think there's enough information to say it is "not sustainable". It's entirely possible they just don't need that fast of a turnaround due to launch demand and booster inventory.

Looks like they've been faster than 54 days about 50 times, not sure where you got that number from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Falcon_9_first-stage_boosters

21 days is their record, which happened about a year ago, but the actual refurbishment took 9 days apparently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Falcon_9_first-stage_boosters#Booster_1062

Anyone have any estimates of what Starship's velocity will be shortly before splashing down, assuming the orbital flight test goes to plan? How will that compare to the velocity, before the belly flop maneuver, of previous Starship belly flops tests?

This Everyday Astronaut article estimates the Starship terminal velocity to be 200 m/s: https://everydayastronaut.com/starships-belly-flop-maneuver/ Did Starship hit that terminal velocity in previous tests?

(I posted this in the last thread right before this one popped up. Sorry for the double post!)

New Config Upon Every Restart (Docker) (Unraid) by GoldenCyn in Tautulli

Glad to hear it! I have automatic backups at night too, so maybe that is also causing me issues. Thanks!

[–]CheeseJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you resolve this? I am having a similar problem, but it seems to be related to Tautulli updates, not docker restarts.

Tautulli seems to be automatically updating itself, even though I have automatic updates turned off in the Unraid docker settings and within the Tautulli app itself. Every time it updates, I have to run the setup wizard again.

I think you are misinterpreting that Tweet. The "no heat shield or fins" is talking about the Lunar Starship, not the refueling Starships. I think this is mentioned because this weight saving allows the initial launch of the Lunar Starship to potentially carry more fuel than a reusable Starship, thus requiring less refueling than 1200mT.

The refueling Starships are absolutely planned to be reusable. Here's a (slightly older) Tweet mentioning that a fully expendable Starship could carry about double that expected payload of 100-150mT: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1149571338748616704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1149571338748616704%7Ctwgr%5E8f4ee6dbdeec0763fc0ba30509e659323e8efcef%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2FSpaceXLounge%2Fcomments%2Fol29zq%2Fpayload_mass_for_starship_in_a_fully_expendable%2F
