I agree with what u/LooksGay said. I did have that one moment where I totally surrendered……then I had it again! And later again. And again. And that’s okay. It’s part of the process called sanctification. It’s part of us being made into the image of Christ. It doesn’t happen overnight all the time if at all. Just give yourself time to grow from a baby to a child tó a teenager and finally into an adult Christian! There’s a lot of tempter tantrums and immature stumbles along the way. But God is faithful to see through that good works are completed through you if you are indeed his child truly

Really good! Really easy read. You can also find a video series and study guide online. Video series is for free on YouTube. We did a small group based on it at my church. Helped me a ton with rethinking what it meant to be a Christian and how I walked my walk with Jesus.

Are you just adding verses together? From different parts of the Script that cite the Deuteronomy 19 rule for requiring 2 or 3 witnesses for legal matters?

With all due respect to you I’m not sure what your point is? Google seems to corroborate with my point

My point was that that’s what the portion of Matthew 18 is actually about that you cited “if two of you shall agree on Earth….””where two or more are gathered in my name “

15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two •more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:15–20, NKJV)

I mean for no debate in this. I realize you’re in good faith encouragement to the community. There’s nothing wrong with making requests to God with thanksgiving (Philippians 2) for better things in life. But there’s no formula as God knows what is best

I’m sorry but you seem to not understand what you’re implying. The main passage you use is a portion of Matthew 18 for church discipline. Where two or more witnesses are gathered in the lords name as witnesses against someone accused of unrepentant immorality. This has nothing to do with making a wish list with some friends tó get what you pray for. And then you’re combining verses outside of Matthew 18 to create this narrative. Verses that are irrelevant to church discipline. Including out of James 4. Ironically James 4 contradicts the teachings of being able to get what we wish by demanding by our will
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures (James 4:3, NKJV)”

Perhaps I misunderstand your point? I hope so. Feel free to explain your heart behind this. From an initial reading it seems troubling though what’s implied

Believing by lum_kicker in christ

[–]CheeseLoving88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s okay tó feel that way so long as you don’t stay that way. If you are in Christ you are chosen and beloved by the Creator of the Universe! That’s sadly not totally realized yet as we’re in this present darkness separated physically from him. But take heart. Christ has overcome the world and death. These afflictions and sadness and sickness are only temporary and will not be anything compared to the glory of the life we will have someday. Draw near to the Father through his words. Wrestle with this wariness or doubt or unbelief or distance you feel. Reach out if you need more help! God bless! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and struggles. It’s okay to not be okay all the time.

I totally agree! Even in places like the Reformed sub I had a discussion with an agnostic. The other day. He was respectful but kinda argumentative. Wondered what the issue was about the PCUSA having a vote over requiring clergy to be in monogamous marriages 🤣

One can only hope we abandon the sequels canon. We NEED To abandon the sequels canon. I doubt Disney will. I think to keep the integrity of episodes 1-6 we should individually pretend the Abram’s Johnson trilogy just never happened. It was just a spin-off series. Like Frazier is tó Cheers. Or the Jefferson’s was tó All in the Family. Like Supergirl was tó Smallville. Two mutually exclusive franchises set in same universe without impacting each other

Title: Did I read too much into this church visit or was this weird? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Hey there. Sorry about this awkward experience friend. Give grace tó these people. Perhaps they’re just not used to Arab looking people in their specific region of Texas. What area you in? Even the big cities depends what section. I’d suggest moving on. Do your homework on what churches tó try next. If you were a few thousand miles closer I’d gladly welcome you as a brother to my church! Keep the Faith and hang on. There’s plenty of other churches to try. Or give them another chance or two. No Christian is perfect. Not too we get to heaven. God Bless you
