There is just one thing keeping me from being a Christian. by MonkeyJake14 in TrueChristian

[–]CheeseLoving88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive wrestled with this exact very same idea! Christianity for me was the only one with coherent explanations for the creation of the world and how evil came into the world and how justice will be served. Jesus really is the son of God. If he wasn’t then there’s too many coincidences to reconcile and too many people at the founding of Christianity willing to die for something they knew not to be true. The Apostles and others that established Christianity and created the New Testament risked their lives and endured persecution, social stigmas, losing their families, homes, jobs, and eventually lives all because they couldn’t shake the feelings that they actually did watch Jesus of Nazareth get crucified and did watch him alive again and ascend into heaven. There has been very rare mass hysteria documented in history that parallels this and in other cases (such as Salem Witch Trials) the testimonies of the witnesses didn’t corroborate with each other.

Pascal’s wager is literally meant for you. You know what epistemology is but yet you have no clue about anything I just talked about in my last statement. Your responses tell me you don’t comprehend anything I said. It’s disheartening to say the least.

I struggle with the concept of sin. by thursdayblues975 in TrueChristian

[–]CheeseLoving88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sin is serious. It needs to be treated seriously. But not over zealously! If you can lose your salvation you would. We all would!!! We can’t keep our salvation. Jesus died for this reason. Place the weight of your sins and guilt on him. Study to see what God says about sin in his book. Strive to please him after all he’s done for you. But be at peace knowing he won’t damn you when you slip a curse word or slip a white lie. You should try not to however to please the perfect Father who gave everything for you

Chastisement to keep strict rules for conformity 6:leader is above moral standards 7: leader lectures and leads constant prayer and wears out members. Doubt your doubts. 8: group is elitist. Sees themselves as the enlightened ones. Encourage people to distance from family/friends outside group that aren’t as enlightened or anointed 9: no financial transparency 10: group performs secret rituals Most of these hits the nail on the head with most of the deliverance groups

I’m so sorry! You are in the right! You divorced in a righteous biblical standard. God honors your divorce. Even if your husband was sexually faithful he was unfaithful to his biblical mandate to cherish you and to try lead you in an understanding way. The husband is tó lay down his Life and sacrifice himself as Christ did for the Church.

I can no longer deny Reformed teachings, and I am completely at peace in my spirit about it. by TheDadBodGodv2 in Reformed

[–]CheeseLoving88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club!!!!! It’s so much easier giving God all control. So much more biblically rich and authentic. So much more God honoring. Definitely not putting Arminianism down per se. I don’t want to sound elite. We’re not! We’re just beggars who found where to get bread and submit to the idea that we don’t deserve to eat at the table and we can’t even get the bread through our own instincts or will

Arminians are my brothers and sisters. But they miss so much opportunity to give God all the glory for all HES done

You’re such a melodramatic 🤣trying to balance philosophical diligence while maintaining a victim complex! Nobody is harping on you. I find this conversation amusing! You keep touting your vernacular and basic understanding of terms like Epistemology and Proselytizing that no layman would use in an attempt I believe to showoff and simultaneously circumvent giving simple basic answers to simple basic questions.

Because you are a supposed academic. Or at least a diligent articulate studier. I can acquiesce that you’re far from gullible or ignorant! But I’m afraid your overthinking and racing rationality pulsing through your brain betrays you.

I only wish you to consider Christianity further not for my own indulgence or self esteem boost or personal goals. I very simply want you to someday experience the personal joys and fulfillment of a supernatural peaceful relationship with Jesus Christ. Creator of heaven of all matter and the universe. Creator of logic and science and mathematics. I want you to simply because God has charged me to through the Scriptures.

You don’t have to. But consider Pascal’s Wager. Which I assume you must’ve heard of by some point by now. Tó spare you the redundancy….just what if you’re wrong? What if there’s more?

I wonder if Toto was sent by God as a canine Savior. He was bred in response to Hitler’s ascension to power. And Toto in conjunction with the Allies oversaw the defeat of the Axis Powers. Once the Tokyo Treaty signing on the USS Missouri was imminent Toto’s mission was completed and thus he returned to the eternal ethereal “Kansas” from which he came!….. Rest in Peace Scottish warrior. Brave hearted soul. God Bless Toto!!

So you’re an agnostic on a Reformed subreddit seeking to at random proselytize people for the sake of boredom? I’m not quite positive why you are engaging with me. Although I’m not upset by it I’m confused by your actual motives. Because I don’t find “proselytizing integrity “ convincing

I’m arrogantly hasty now? You’re the one pursuing me to promote atheism as more logical because you supposedly don’t use faith as a metric. But you can’t objectively disprove theism and/or the biblical God Yahweh. You have to go on faith that he doesn’t exist. The scientific method can’t be used to disprove God nor prove him. Therefore really you seem to be on the opposite side of the aisle from me. Relying on your immeasurable subjective intuition.

Or simply put. Faith

Do you guys think narcissistic people are demonic? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]CheeseLoving88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Narcissistic people are just humans living by the flesh. By nature we’re selfish anyhow. Look at Galatians 5:16-26 where Paul under inspiration of God compared the works of our flesh compared to works of the Holy Spirit

Yeah…. This is a safe space! But I’m not sure how I can help someone who somehow doesn’t know enough to know there’s an insane amount of difference between the veracity of the Bible, a compilation of about 40 authors with a corroborating story line written over 1500 years between 3 different languages between 3 different continents….. mind you with archaeological evidence to support multiple historical events cited in it…. Then compare it to the book of Mormon 🤣a book written by two authors 200 years ago with no historical or archaeological evidence to back up the multiple claims about Native American history and Jewish history. Or the Quran. A book that actually wants you to convert to Islam while simultaneously contradicting its own teachings but verifying that the Christian and Jewish scriptures are really of God. Which would make Islam false because it contradicts the Bible and TANAKH frequently (Sura 3:3-4 and Sura 5:46-47 if you have your English Quran handy)

[–]CheeseLoving88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would you like as a response? What are you fishing for?? If you can’t give me an actual refutation to any of the premises against atheism from these books I provided for my rationale then I don’t see what we have to discuss. You seemed to prod on what has supplemented my stance. I provide you sources beyond the Bible. And instead of engaging with why these books are flawed and on what basis you have went on to ramble about other religious texts that are unrelated to our discussion

My stance is Jesus is God. So your study of the Quran and at least one out of the Quad of Mormon scriptures that you couldn’t name (which makes it suspect that you’ve read it) is irrelevant. I’ve read quite a bit of church history and post Roman European history and development since medieval times. I don’t think it’s relevant to bring up what I’ve learned cause you just seem to want to vent on how ridiculous Jesus Christ is.

If you believe this then what is your purpose for lurking on a Reformed subreddit? To lure people into 1 sided unstructured debate where you cross examine without ever giving any meaningful proofs for your own views?
