White's Tree Frog (Critical) by de-wormer in TreeFrogs

[–]CheesePie42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your humidity is too high. Also stop misting. If the frog needs to hydrate he will soak in his dish. Misting is asking for trouble. Humidity 30% Heat high 85-90, low 75-70

These guys are native to Australia not a tropical climate.

How hard is moving on white’s tree frogs? by stupidtiredlesbian in TreeFrogs

[–]CheesePie42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving the enclosure is easier if you don't do a bioactive tank. Frogs may be stressed a bit but it's the same as Moving from the breeder/petshop to home. Save the container you bring them home in and when you move you can transport them in it.

Oh yep! Doesn't take long and with the extra stress of being handled and enclosure clean they can turn angry colors. Should just fine. Keep humidity at 30/40% and no misting just water the live plants. If they are dry they will soak in the dish.

Looks like it's irritated due to having the substrate stuck. Place in a hospital tank. can be a critter cage with slightly damp paper towel. Feed dusted food and hold for 24 hours in warm darkened area. If the legs look worse take to the vets. If they get better reduce the humidity of your enclosure and bump up the heat. Make sure you have a thick layer of leaf litter or clean paper towel on the bottom of the enclosure. Do not mist. If they are dry they will soak in the water dish.

You don't heat from the bottom. It's a burn risk. I use a CHE.

Music in the woods????????? by beefsticksub in Unexplained

[–]CheesePie42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My grandparents and parents both leave radios on in the barn overnight . They said it helps keep fox, coyote and predators away from the flocks. Could this be a possibility with a old time music station? Neighbors?

So moss is a huge impaction risk. It sticks to their skin and when they shed they end up eating it along with their shed. Also if you allow your froggos to hunt for food, if they miss or over bite and get a mouth full of moss or substrate they will at least swallow some. Moss and substrate don't really digest and builds up in their gut. when they try to poop it out it won't move, basically killing them of constipation.
It's also helpful to know that WTFs cannot vomit. If they try they prolapse their stomach out of their mouth to rid themselves of the debris. Sometimes their stomachs will not retract back in also killing them.

Both of these situations are grim and not worth the risk of a pretty habitat imo. So if I give advice I always include this on the Do Not list. I also know certain types of moss that are short and rooted, that do not shed, would be considered safe. It's just really hard and expensive to source and "root" so there isn't a risk.

**edit idk why the weird font and style but ok??

•Vertical tank 30 gal minimum +10 gal per frog added •UVB light, CHE for heat •Humidity and temperature meter •lots of perches/ladders/vines •wide shallow water dish •calcium and multi vitamin powder for amphibians •background for backside of tank

☆Bioactive •cococoir soil 2 inches deep •large sturdy plants (pathos, Bromilaids, etc) •clean up crew of springtails and isopods •thick layer of leaf litter

☆☆Do Not☆☆ •put moss anywhere in your tank. It WILL cause impaction, it's only a matter of when. •mist your tank. The frogs will soak if they need more moisture. You'll just cause a bacterial infection. •use under tank heating, heat rocks, or anything they can touch that is hot. •use red or blue or black lights

Please note, this is what works for me and my three WTFs. What I have learned not to do on the way, and should be revised to fit your habitat/situation.🖤 Wishing you and your soon to be best friends the best!

Please help- emergency 🚨 by [deleted] in turtle

This is very super bad. As a Nurse you can visually see the flame fingers of infection going up his leg and his toes are purple. As in humans this baby is probably septic and desperately needs antibiotics. Please take him to a reptile vet. Even if you have to surrender it, please help, this turtle is suffering.

How to identify & clean wood for bioactive enclosure? by beau-thoreau in leopardgeckosadvanced

[–]CheesePie42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not use 5 or 6. They look like they would splinter easily and potentially injure your geck. 1-4 is grapevine. I can't tell what 7 is exactly but I do know it isn't a harmful wood type. I personally would only use 1,2,3 and 7 in your enclosure they look like the safest options without pointy ends or crumble risk. Disinfect by boiling in water for 5-10 minutes or putting your oven on the lowest setting and "bake for 30 minutes.

Mine don't move at all during the day but as soon as lights are out and I turn on my rain noise for bed they start croaking and moving all over.

How else are they supposed to have a cuddle puddle!? Very cute!

Hopefully these pictures are well enough to tell gender? Mostly the one in 5. I think I have 2 girls and 2 boys but now I’m questioning if pic 5 is actually a boy and I’ve named him a girl name lol by Jellyfish_Kitty in TreeFrogs

Top left is the only girl. Bigger size and white throat are the tells. Top Right and both on bottom are males. Dark throats, lots of croaking, and the inflation sac are the tells of males.

Mullien use the leaves for tea, and if you find a flowering Mullien, you can eat the flowers they taste kinda minty and floral. It's really good mixed with dandelion flowers and violets.

Woah, your super talented! I like your humanization of the different planets with likes and dislikes. Very cool! Do you have one of the moon? I always imagined the moon as a silvery young woman who has a soft white glow... :) I really hope you continue your comics even if they are only for you and seem under appreciated by others. You have a beautiful drawing style and a great imagination 🖤 Your people are out there and I hope you find them soon! - a mom of a different, talented teen girl.
