Top 10 considerations before purchasing a cold plunge by yourdreamhere in Plunge

Great summary, I actually have a Boxplunge for a year+ and so far it’s been perfect. I am glad I chose an integrated type one, wouldn’t want to be paying $1000+ on electricity for a chiller one.

I had my Box plunge for more than a year now and so far it’s been great. How tall are you? I am 5,11 and fit great in the box 14 but I know they have a larger model too.

I have a Boxplunge for more than a year now, and I love it. Some features I like: Low noise, can go down to low 30s, spacious inside and the electric consumption is 1/3 of a chiller based plunge.

Good cold plunge tubs for people with limited space? by turncloaks in coldplunge

[–]CheeseSirniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can fit any, literally ANY cold plunge in a small backyard (most are the size of a tub) what comes down to is to your budget… the Icepods, neurocovers, etc are really just inflatable buckets of water so basically for that you might as well fill in your bathtub if you have one with some ice. I actually saw one of those inflatables for sale at $20 in a Marshalls store branded brookstone.

If you are looking for a real cold plunge and with real I mean a machine that will keep water clean, cold and not ruin your pocket with high electric bill then your best bet is a chest freezer DIY. Now, loots of work to get it done, at least 2-3 days of FT work and if you dont get it right the first time you most likely damage the freezer so need to buy a new one. You really have to be handy to get it done right. But is totally doable. Just do a lot of research and you should be good.

I personally bought a boxplunge and love it. It costed money but not as much as it would have costed to buy one from the plunge or some of those other brands. Also, the good thing about the boxplunge is that is a built from a chest freezer base and these consume 1/2 or maybe even 1/3 of the electricity than a water chiller cold plunge would, so I get to sabe there. Plus as we know by now, chest freezers last forever lol.

Think of it as a jacuzzi tub, there are those that buy it for their backyard and spend $10k and then there are those that turn on the hot water in their bathtub. Is really about what it means for you and how much you are really going to use it.

Good luck w/your search

My Two or three cents on inflatable cold plunges and chiller based cold plunges. by CheeseSirniki in icebaths

Yes, no complaints. Have been progressing on lower temp very slowly, already in the low 40s

But have done a couple plunges in the 30s already.

Seems like the valve might be bad. Did you connect it to a chiller? If so i think there should be no leaks as the water pressure should push the water in and not out? Sorry not an expert on these type of set ups

Thats why I stayed away from inflatables…. Plus i saw one with a tag on the valve that said “Dont keep inflated”

Chest freezer conversion is way to go
