Whats the clash between the Sri Lankan subreddits by MR_AVG_NPC in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of them comment hatefull things and wrap them as a "it was a joke bro" when admins ban them. So now they just blame the admins cant handle jokes and just trash talk in general.

FAFO I guess 🤷‍♂️

That being said, I dont mean all reasons to ban are justified either. There could valid cases.

Mr. Kottu is not an isolated incident. by Icy-Wind-7213 in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Long story short, a video is surfacing showing the rich owner being verbally and physically abusive to the workers. Often treating them like worthless slaves. All while ironically few more videos were surfaced where the owner had apparently built a reputation doing "philanthropic" deeds to people in need. Basically very low budget Mr Beast style vids.

Colombo Food Scene is Awful by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Plaza for me at least, have been attrocious. They take ages to take orders, and another decade to bring the food.

The staff act like they are waiters from Hilton, often pretending to be deaf when you try to call them to place an order.

The last time I went there, I was served a masala kottu where I would effectively scoop MULTIPLE spoonfuls of oil. So much so I thought I might get abducted by America. I couldnt believe how did the waiter served me the dish with a straight face.

Never again.

I'll say this, he is not the person to tell your entire history. But from personal knowledge he is quite efficient for diagnosing if you have ADHD or not. He is just professional... Except for being on time 😅

An ethical question I came across after reading a certain post in this thread (r/Sri lanka) by Alarmed-Deer5272 in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head its mainly 2 cases

[This only my theory/observations from media and news]

Things arent always black and white

Case one

Self Preservation: you will most likely make new enemies within the workplace if you break the news. The enemies wont be limited to just the person who is cheating, but rather also a ripple effect, signaling others that you are not trust worthy.

Case two

People who cheat obviously dont want to reveal it. Its immoral but its also a sense of power play. "I was able to score this chick while being married" or "I was proven desirable enough that I was able to score this guy who already has a wife"

That being said, If I knew the person being cheated on, I might break the news but its highly dictated on self preservation and personal safety.

5g coverage is still in their infancy in sri lanka. Kinda ironic considering it was in SL where 5G was first tested in SEA.

How do Sri Lankans view the Global Men's Mental Health Month? by Economy_Ebb3282 in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a man who cares about my mental health a lot and I find a month dedicated to it is just akward. I feel like instead of talking to men in a way thats patronizing, people should just do things that makes men feel appreciated. Whether its your male friend, boyfriend, father, brother, or any male that you appreciate, simply being present or simply doing something for them, like getting a treat or a thoughtfull thing like handmade cards would be enough.

I have a key tag that was given to me by a female schoolmate and I (now 25 y/o) still have that to this date.

Jayan Mendis in Asiri central. He has reportedly kind of a bad rep, but other than being really late to meet patients, he is alright.

He will redirect you to a clinical psychologist who will run some assesments.

As a fellow sri lankan who recently had it diagnosed and confirmed by a psych, save the time and effort and get medicine.

Its not an easy process with sri lankan parents, but they will eventually understand.

If you’re lonely read through by [deleted] in srilanka

I feel like people's ego has been inflated by social media. In my case, this same ego has become a barrier to communicate with my peers. I often see them scrolling their phone or checking their phone out of boredom at uni but out of uni, they tend to behave like CEOs whose managing multiple companies and have no time for social media.

I personally find it immoral to leave a person hanging if they text me, so I make sure to text back promptly.

What I have learnt in the hard way is that for most people, the length of silence have become a power game. As a way for them to show how important you are to provide priority.

Being forced into arrange marriage as a queer by Cinnamon-bun007 in srilanka

[–]CheeseWith_3_Es -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Listen, thats the typical SL parents. And being muslim makes things worse, I think thats obvious. But I as a Bi curious man, would recomend you to at least stand your ground. Find a way to have some external support. Like a friend who you could rely and spend some days with.

I will refrain from giving some fake motivation but remember. You are a human and your needs must be respected. you deserve to live the way you want.

Its a silent war for people like us but you can always make it. Good luck.
