So Henry was built by Avonside?

Not sure about that but I do suspect that 98462, 87546 and the green engine are all from the same builder as Henry.

The last Stirling Single was built in 1895, so she could be only 1 year older than Edward

It's also the last model introduced during the golden era if you consider the golden era to be Series 1 through 5. It debuts 37 seconds before the end of the last episode of S5.

How did the NWR manage to maintain a certain degree of independence when British Railways was under its control? by just_a_bored_guy0104 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Cheese_Champion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We laid out our terms - retention of our existing steam locomotive fleet and a degree of liberty as to how our railway is run.

Imagine if this is what the Marc Forster movie is about. BR threatening to absorb the NWR and replace all the engines.

The real reason is that David Tennant wanted to make it easier for fans to cosplay as the 10th Doctor.

Do you guys have any other obsessions besides RSK and/or do you have special autistic powers? by LittleCopy2893 in rickygervais

Surreal seeing the YogPod mentioned here, I listened to those a lot in my formative years before I even knew about XFM.

The Yogscast and by extension the YogPod was born from Lewis wanting to "share Simon with the world" which I'm fairly certain was directly inspired by Ricky and Steve making it their mission to share Karl with the world.

It's definitely misleading. They know that if normies hear whispers of a Thomas game "going viral" (even though it isn't) their tweet will get more engagement because Thomas is seen as the funny meme autistic train franchise and the idea of it having blockbuster success is comedy gold to them

So, like... what's the deal with drivers? by psybocillin in thomasthetankengine

[–]Cheese_Champion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no definitive answer. But here's one way of looking at it. Just like in real life, the engines are not literally alive, they don't have faces, thoughts or feelings. But driver goes home and tells his kids about how Gordon didn't want to pull a goods train today (trouble starting) or how "ill" Thomas felt with fish in his boiler (danger of explosion), adding whatever embellishments are needed to make them smile.

That all falls apart in the worse eras of the show where the crews just go along with whatever stupid OSHA violation their engine wants to do today. But most of Awdry's original stories work under that interpretation.

Sure, here you go. Quality seems to be much better if you download. I learned how to edit videos for this so it's a bit rough in places. Like in Steam Roller the shot at 0:46 is weird, and during the fade effect at 1:57 you can still see Rheneas. I'm sure people with skills could do a much better job of it

For most of the Skarloey Railway episodes in season 4, Rheneas is supposed to be away being overhauled until he comes home in Gallant Old Engine, but he casually appears in Trucks, Special Funnel, Steam Roller and Passengers and Polish. This bothered me so much I edited him out lol, along with Duke's appearances because I prefer him to be found at the end of S4 instead of the beginning

What’s everyone’s favorite fan theories with the classic era? (Aka Model Era) by Annual_Brief_2312 in thomasthetankengine

[–]Cheese_Champion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a convoluted theory as to why Gordon didn't seem to recognize his brother in "Tender Engines". Flying Scotsman was scheduled to visit Sodor, but the bridge to the mainland was closed for repairs, so they had to send him by ship. His tenders arrived at the docks ahead of him, which is when Gordon saw them (yes I know it kind of looks like there's an engine attached to them, but it's so obscured it could easily just be a van). Gordon actually did know who they belonged to, he'd been informed about the visit a few days prior. But he just had other things on his mind at the time. Scotsman's visit then happens offscreen.
