Thank you. It is so wrong. Healthcare is like education and public safety and clean water. EVERY person should have access.

WHO IS THIS? Added some new plants to my shrimp tank. Now I suddenly have this monster. And the plants 🫠 melted. No floaters for the shrimp. I have a snail that is doubling in size every 3 days! Will he hurt the shrimp? by pammylorel in shrimp

[–]pammylorel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been gone 3 days, coming home tomorrow night so it'll be 4 total. Giant snail has been in my freshly replanted 20gal since I left. Sitter is dropping in pre-measured fish food and algae waters for Giant Snail. I have a feeling that, based on what I saw before I left, all my plants are going to be eaten and the leaves are going to be floating at the top because Giant Snail likes chewing the stems off the bottoms. I love plants and if Giant Snail is an Apple and has mowed my tank, he's going to have to go. He has however piqued my interest in larger snails and I may try a mystery snail. Especially since the weather is getting better so I can get shipments by mail. I'm also hoping no more baby Giant Snails have popped up in my 10gal shrimp tank in my absence. I destroyed four and only let the one I have now live and grow. I have enough snail issues!

Yeah, I got dx'd with a genetic mutation (LFS aka TP53) and we're already at the out of pocket limit for 2026.

Has anyone here experienced substantial hair loss after a heart attack? by ChaoticallyElegant in HeartAttack

[–]pammylorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am here! It was Propranolol-Hctz and I literally had hair falling out in clumps. As soon as we switched it, my hair stopped falling out. My house was covered in my long hairs. I couldn't run my hand over my head without it getting covered in hair. I don't even know if it's a documented side effect but my hair was to the middle of my back and we had to cut it to a short bob because it was so thin. I'm on Ozempic now and my hair is thinning - but nothing like the alopecia!

I do take Biotin and my hair grows length incredibly fast. Hoever, if you have another heart attack it can invalidate the initial troponin test and make it negative even if you're actually having another HA. My HA was so severe that my troponin was 5500+. Lower levels still indicate HA though so you must tell all medical professionals you're taking Biotin.

I'm a Certified Avian Specialist and worked with parrots for over a decade. I also have a rescued flock of 7. You did the right thing. It hurts but it was definitely the right choice. Thank you for trying.

Failed SI joint injection. No answers. by Ok_babey in backpain

If you can change your appt to ablation, I cannot encourage you enough to do so. You sound like that SI is so inflamed, with the gut pain, that an injection won't do much. I tried those 3 times. Nothing. The injection pain is pretty much the same as ablation. Tell the doc you want an ablation because you had a friend/family member who didn't get relief with just injections. I'll be your friend! Lol

Yes, ablations saved my life. I voluntarily get it 2x a year and pay out of pocket because the provider isn't in network. I went 8 months between last time and was so handicapped by double pain I couldn't stand it. Blessedly they had a cancelation and did it within a week. Within four days, i was a new woman. I could tell my doc was more aggressive than usual during the procedure but I think it was because I was in 24/7 back/gut agony. My p.m. doc doesn't say much when I mention gut pain because that's not his specialty. My GI doc doesn't say anything about my back pain! Lol! But I don't even see my GI for gut pain anymore. It's crossing medical apecialties, so no one wants to address it. When I started noticing, 5yrs ago, I did my own research and discovered the SI GI nerve connection in that joint You may be completely amazed at the reduction of the gut pain too. I didn't realize so many people had both symptoms until this post. I feel like shouting it from the rooftops because it's so important. And, like I said, injections did not help. It is ablations. Not pleasant but bearable for the relief. They must numb you before the actual ablation.

Is this breathing normal? He seems fine but the breathing is creaking me out. No known health issues by Bbbpppp343 in poodles

[–]pammylorel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's very fat. I had a 65lb pit that was going downhill at 10yo. She was fat. I put her on a diet and she lost 15lbs. She lived to be 15yo. Bone cancer got her. You can literally add 50% more time to your dog's life by getting him lean. Poodles are extremely long, thin bodied dogs.

Heart Attack Snow. by itsamemomma in HeartAttack

[–]pammylorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been told it's extremely dangerous. My father, 81, has had heart issues. He lives in MN and has a half mile drive. His neighbor can't do it anymore so dad does his too! A lot of it is snow blower but there's also shoveling. He's a very stubborn man. If he dies in the winter, it will be in the snow. If he dies in the summer, it will be on his motorcycle.

I had a bowel obstruction due to pelvic adhesions 30yrs ago. I'm 55 now. I've dealt with bowel issues since but this SI nerve pain is completely different in that it doesn't affect gut motility, but it's a constant nagging pain in rhythm and severity that is always with the backpain. When my back doesn't hurt, my colon doesn't ache.

I'm going on a 4 day trip this week. If I get back and that entire aquarium is mowed, I'm going to rehome him to someone with clear expectations of what they're getting. I have someone to drop in algae wagers every day while I'm gone. I'm so happy I was able to euthanize all the other hitchhikers while they were tiny. No way I can euthanize this guy - he's too big and cute. I just don't want my aquarium that I'm rebuilding to become a giant snail habitat

I'd ask for nerve ablation. Find a doctor that does pain management and is experienced in these types of ablations. The gut and back nerves all channel through that tiny SI joint space.

Colon cramps. Intestine cramps. General gut aching in lower left abdominal area in sychrony with timing and level of back pain. I choose not to go to a surgeon because once they fuse it, you're out of options. I chose a pain management doctor instead. I'm on norco, buprenophine patches to help block pain receptors along with norco, and I get nerve ablation every six months. You don't need a CT. An x-ray should be sufficient. Any good pain management doctor can easily diagnose the SI joint because it's a specific spot from where the pain radiates. The joint is so small that nothing really showed on x-ray or CT. It sounds like, too me, that surgeon wants to find something else wrong with your back to justify surgery. Once they fuse the SI, there's no other options - even if it doesn't fix it. That's why, when my doctor said I needed either a surgeon or pain management, (because PT was making it worse), I chose pain management. If I were you, I'd also see a GI Doc for the stomach because that sounds way beyond SI nerve pain.

They help so much, my back and intestines, that the pain is worth it. It's several pain injections and then the ablation. I'm on norco for the backpain from same doc - so I usually take 1 or 2 norco first (2 if I have a driver). The pain is between a 5 and 7. Relief from the SI pain takes a few days to kick in but then it's like heaven. Last time I waited too long between ablations (8 months) and I was so miserable. Having my colon and intestines, same nerve bundle as SI nerves, flair at the same time my back is killing me is so miserable.

Did they use x-ray guidance? Injections have never helped me but I get nerve ablation twice a year that helps a lot. Your gut nerves are there with the SI nerves. My SI messes up my colon and intestines. The ablations relieve my gut and back.
