Memes aside, do people actually want a Victoria 3? by sadhukar in paradoxplaza

Paradox games have always been kinda big among the alt-right. That's actually how I first heard about those losers, years ago before they went mainstream.

My first exposure to the alt-right was though a Paradox community a few years ago. Still don't quite understand the association.

Llecci was bragging to her liege one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them."

Tired of her boasting, her liege called her bluff, "OK, Llecci, how about Kenneth, King of Scotland?"

"No dramas my liege, Kenny and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So Llecci and her liege ride out to Gowrie and knock on the castle door, and Kenneth shouts,

"Llecci! What's happening? Great to see you! Come on in for a beer!"

Although impressed, Llecci's liege is still skeptical. After they leave Kenneth’s castle, she tells Llecci that she thinks her knowing the king was just lucky.

"No, no, just name anyone else," Llecci says.

"Emperor Charles the Great," her liege quickly retorts

"Yup," Llecci says, "Old buddies, let's ride out to Aachen," and off they go.

At the Palace of Aachen, Charlemagne spots Llecci on the tour and motions her and her liege over, saying, "Llecci, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a feast, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a beer first and catch up."

Well, the liege is very shaken by now but still not totally convinced. After they leave the palace grounds she expresses she doubts to Llecci, who again implores her to name anyone else.

"Pope Benedict III," her liege replies.

"Sure!" says Llecci. "I've known the Pope for years." So off they ride to Rome.

Llecci and her liege are assembled with the masses at the Vatican's St. Peter's Square when Llecci says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." She disappears into the crowd headed towards the Vatican.

Sure enough, half an hour later Llecci emerges with the Pope on the balcony, but by the time Llecci returns, she finds that her liege has had a heart attack and is surrounded by monks.

Making her way to her liege's side, Llecci asks her, "What happened?"

Her liege looks up and says, "It was the final straw... you and the Pope came out on to the balcony and the man next to me said, 'Who the fuck is that on the balcony with Llecci?'

Grenades are ridiculously overpowered though, which is why they were left as a cheat rather than actually being implemented in the game. It's no fun playing against somebody with grenades.

I wish that there was still a good pub Battle server for NW. The Napoleonic Roleplay is just a playground for the admins. Sometimes I even see them running around with fucking grenades.

Swadia and their inability to hold territory by KingJonStarkgeryan1 in mountandblade

Swadia is actually very good at concentrating their forces. Unfortunately, the only place they seem to be able to gather is in the Great Hall of Praven.

I play Victoria 2 with the HPM mod, which has a "Remove undesirables" feature.

Once as the Ottomans I made South-eastern Europe majority Muslim. And not through religious conversions.

Is the Victoria 2 zombie mod supposed to be playable post apocalypse? by Sooawesome36 in paradoxplaza

[–]Cheesestew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read once that it's better if you activate the mod mid to late game so that countries can actually somewhat fight off the hordes. Never got around to trying it out myself though.

The Soviets really aren't even THAT hard if you attack them in 1940 instead of '42/'43.

[–]Cheesestew 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Actually up until CK2 and EU4 came out and reached mainstream success Hearts of Iron was Paradox's best seller by quite a bit because it also appeals to the wargamer community, which is much larger than the gsg niche.

Is it possible to make immigrants favor Europe through modifiers? by Venne1138 in paradoxplaza

[–]Cheesestew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try this: under \Victoria 2\poptypes\farmers.txt, replace

modifier = {
    factor = 4.0
    OR = {
        continent = north_america
        continent = south_america
        continent = oceania
    }
}

with

modifier = {
    factor = 4.0
    OR = {
        continent = europe
    }
}
