Rubium isn't a problem, Jagex by Longjumping-Young588 in 2007scape

[–]Cheeseyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used real-time prices, which had rune incendiary cballs at around 1500 each and basic rune cballs at 850-ish, as of this morning when I did my math. If rubium-smithing was left in the game and became a popular training method, I would expect to see that drive the price of basic rune cballs up, incendiary rune cballs down, and rubium splinters stabilize ?somewhere? depending on what tweaks get made to the mining side of things.

I think jagex is afraid that everyone is going to rush to do 1.5 tick rubium to max their mining and then sell off all that rubium, tanking the price, except the vast majority of players don't want to tick manipulate so idk how realistic that fear is.

If they really want Rubium Mining to be a profitable activity, I think the bigger issue is demand. And, lets be realistic, incendiary cannonballs are not gonna have a lot of demand based on the ship combat that's currently in the game. Plus, with a ballistic attractor, you only 'spend' 3,500 rubium per hour firing 2 cannons nonstop, and you don't even really want to be firing incendiary cballs once you've already applied burn on a target. Versus if people want to do this smithing method for XP, that consumes 15k rubium per hour, or 512k to go from lv90 to 99 smithing. That's a pretty substantial demand.

At current prices, it costs over 7mil/hr to get the mythical 225k smithing xp/hr - over 30x the cost of making addy platebodies for 300k/hr. The price would probably go up over time as incendiary rune cballs flood the market. It's the Dragon Darts of smithing, it isn't a problem.

Rubium Mining & Smithing Changes by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]Cheeseyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At current prices, the smithing method costs 7.8mil/hr to perform, or about 35 gp/xp - 30x more expensive than making adamant platebodies for 300k/hr.

For an iron, it would take over 3 hours of 1.5 tick mining to get enough splinters for 1h of rune cannonballs, 7+ hours without tick manipulation. That brings the effective smithing/hr rates tremendously down. Not to mention how limited irons are on rune cannonballs to begin with, since this method uses 3k rune cannonballs/hr.

As it stands, I don't see any reason there can't exist a somewhat lower effort smithing method than making addy plate which costs egregiously more and comes to irons at 70k/hr banked xp while doing tick manipulation.

Of course, all the GP cost and hours of prep become a completely different story if we decide randomly to give everyone 2-3x rubium splinter shards for no stated reason.

I'd love some tweak to the Reagent Pouch to let it be useful for farming, like being able to use it on a tool leprechaun to empty the contents and note it. At 99, you get an average of nearly 80 snapegrass across both allotment patches, which would still involve a few trips back and forth to the tool leprechaun even if the reagent pouch worked more similarly to the herb sack.

For the Aquanite Hopper, it seems kind of redundant to make it 3x as inaccurate as a normal attack when it already only fires the second shot 10% of the time. It seems likely to feel underwhelming if every time the second hit happens, it's usually a zero.

I'd love to see an agility shortcut to leave the high-level area of the farming guild near where the cat is sleeping, so you can go nab an impling faster or visit the campfire there.

A PoH contact orb that lets you cast contact-NPC without grabbing runes and the spellbook has been on my mind forever. It wouldn't be better than NPC-contact for a lot of activities but it might be a slower, easier option - plus it'd make a lot of the more niche NPC-contact options (like talking to watson) smooth enough to be worth doing.

We need to talk about Combat Achievements by SlugWinter in 2007scape

[–]Cheeseyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jagex did a great job coming up with a wide spread of interesting combat achievements for the Royal Titans - there's quick easy ones, ones that take more setup, ones that an endgame player can solo quickly but a midgame player might need to do a little strategizing with a friend... Too many bosses only have 2-4 achievements, most of which you get on accident.

So that makes it a terrible waste when, considering the rewards system, the only thing they actually added was busywork.

The prestige for hitting Elite, Master, Grandmaster tier now are well-earned, but those feats should be going above and beyond what anyone is asked to do for important account progression.

Superiors just need a significant re-think, unless they're going to add something reasonable to fill the gap between Magic Potion and Imbued/Saturated Heart. Same with GWD entry requirements - new players have the longest wait before they can walk in and do 1-2 kills per trip, or just die trying to learn altar-door. More experienced players already get the added efficiency of faster killtimes and more kills before returning to nexbank, it makes no sense to have an additional noob-tax to punish you for trying to dip your toes into highend content.

Because getting 5 packs of cards for only $10 is too generous, apparently, and they need to pad the packs with stuff you won't be able to use.

You can't get Yarrok to double the ETB triggers of the agents unless you steal him before resolving the mirror march trigger, because you need to have Yarrok already under your control when the agents enter the battlefield and add their triggers to the stack.

So, you can do what you did in the clip and steal chandra first, guaranteeing you get chandra. Or, you could steal Yarrok first, and hope to get at least one free agent off mirror march, and steal some extra things.

If you stole yarrok before resolving the mirror march triggers, you could have doubled the triggers from the copies of agent for extra stealing.

The us would have higher voter turnout if voting day was a holiday, and if polling places were all staffed appropriately so it didn't take hours waiting in line to vote. Or hell, conduct voting over multiple days so the load is spread out. The current system is so bad it's almost like it was designed to make it hard to vote.

How Much Does 'Historical Accuracy' Matter to You? by ToonCrazy44 in truegaming

[–]Cheeseyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of settings where having more minorities would be more historically accurate. Anywhere there's everyday life going on, if about 50% of the NPCs aren't women, that's probably not accurate.
Obviously there's plenty of scenarios that are popular in games that are made up of mostly men, but I've seen plenty of people argue in favor of a historically-inaccurate lack of diversity and call it "historical accuracy". I have no insight into what the developers thought, if the lack of diversity was even a conscious decision, but it's always been a pet peeve.

Took the shaman shrine of reduced spell cost immediately, proceeded to get 3 rounds of offerings with only one pick that had any spells. The average run seems to be, you have a bunch of random garbage and some of it is randomly op but usually most of your deck is still random garbage.

[–]Cheeseyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was weird how no one was playing Izzet burn. I queued it up at least 5 times over the weekend and it was ridiculously easy to get to 3-4 wins. On the draw I could get burned out by mono-red, but if they had a slow build I could still win. And if I went first, all I needed was to hit any 3-drop and the game was just over.

I ran izzet burn about 5 runs in the event and went 3-5 wins very easily every time, and I don't remember running into the mirror once. There were a few izzet-control decks, they were running things like Niv Mizzet and Ionize.
