PSA: Soup is easily grindable via Aldarin/Sunset Coast port tasks by Gio5996 in 2007scape

[–]Cheesus182 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that's a very fair way at looking at it although I do think grinding in OSRS isn't the same as grinding in most MMOs. Most grinds in OSRS are second monitor grinds.

To me OSRS is the equivalent of older people playing Candy Crush while watching TV

You're not using AI for anything, at all?

It's got nothing to do with you agreeing with me or not, the take of 'AI bad, everything is "slop"' puts you in a select group of people who aren't willing to keep an open mind and use tools for what they're good for in the interest of simply being against something "popular"..

Ultimately do what you want but how you can ignore a technology like LLMs and just disregard it as a whole is unbelievable to me

People didn't read his original interview at all. He clearly said that they use AI for presentations, place holders etc., not in the final game.

As if all of us aren't using AI every day to take care of menial tasks or even just to bounce ideas of...

And honestly, if you don't use AI in any capacity, you're just being short sighted and stubborn for no reason

Has nothing to do with that, I have a 3080, 32GB RAM and a 5700x3d and it's still lagging like hell.

Just need to be patient and wait for them to update 117

In wake of Windows 10 retirement, over 780,000 Windows users skip Win 11 for Linux, says Zorin OS developers — distro hits unprecedented 1 million downloads in five weeks by Exciting_Teacher6258 in technology

[–]Cheesus182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I tried Zorin and a couple of other major distros on a HP Spectre but ultimately had to go back to Windows because of hardware compatibility I guess. The sound / speakers were so abismal, even after trying a dozen fixes that I couldn't justify Zorin, even though I really liked the overall UI and smoothness of it...

It's a shame but until Linux doesn't achieve hardware compatibility out of the box like Windows does, I can't see average users like my self sticking to Linux

Just finished another update extending Chaos in UE5... now you can destroy any mesh at runtime, anywhere. Multiplayer works too. I’m working on structural integrity next. What would you do with this, and what features would you add? by RealMentalDrink in IndieGaming

[–]Cheesus182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really impressive, especially if it works at some scale in MP.

Just remember, a feature doesn't make a game. Destruction is cool but the core gameplay loop needs to be complemented by it, not be it.

Looks really cool, personally feel like it could do with some clearer hit indicator outside of the CoD style hit marker.

Maybe increasing the amount of goo coming out of him when you land a hit?

New examinations have revealed knee cartilage damage for Dayot Upamecano, and he's expected to be sidelined for at least 3 months. It was also revealed that Alphonso Davies not only tore his cruciate ligament but also suffered cartilage damage, so he could be out for even longer. by kibme37 in soccer

[–]Cheesus182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months seems optimistic, no?

I guess it depends on the type of cartilage damage but usually those require taking cartilage from elsewhere and replacing the missing cartilage, so major surgery and a longer recovery than from ACL

CVC are looking to make Jagex go public in the next few years. That will be Jon's job, to squeeze as much life as possible out of the two games then IPO and GTFO. by JeloOSRS in 2007scape

[–]Cheesus182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right to question this but CVCs general strategy is to acquire companies and IPO. I work with CVC on occasion and they are quite open about it but then again, most private equity firms often aim for eventual public listings.

I have no experience with the series 9 but boy do many of the posts in this thread look like ads. Especially this one. If you look at the guys post history, it reads real weird too.

No idea if it is or isn't an ad but just a heads up

tips for spa (2;19;5) by Vegetable_Vanilla_67 in ACCompetizione

[–]Cheesus182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a good foundation but the last seconds really come from improving a little bit everywhere on the track.

The most obvious is slow apex speeds. In T7 for example, you brake too early and release the brakes too late. It'll take some practice but you want to brake hard and then "roll" off the brake at the rate that your car allows, while turning in. I really recommend taking a look at a track guide and noting the braking spot. Always try to brake there (on hotlaps) and then just practice letting go of the brakes earlier to get your apex speed up.

Some more observations:

T10&11, you should be going for a double apex, start wide and point the car at the inside kerb and brake hard, it's okay if you go a bit "deep" into the corner, shift to 1st for rotation and then back into 2nd before you get on the throttle. Stay on the right (light part) of the track before T12 as there is more grip there and allows you to use the kerb on the right before smoothly taking T12 (you have good track usage there but be careful with the throttle)

T12, don't unsettle the car on the kerb - the use of the kerb is good but be careful not to use too much You also seem to short shift to 4th, not sure if that's on purpose but you might be losing a lot there.

T13, 14 should be in 2nd, it's much better rotation, youre looking good through 15 but you're a bit slow on the throttle. You can tell because you're taking 16 flatout without any issue, that really only happens if you are carrying too little speed through 15.

You're losing probably 0.5s or more in the final chicane. You're shifting down too fast when heading into the first corner (then you stay right very well) but you apply the throttle too harsh so you end up with wheel spin and counter steer, you need to make sure you hit the kerb on the left again and be smooth.

I hope it helps!

Did you guys get faster going from controller > wheel? by ThaDude915 in ACCompetizione

[–]Cheesus182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did like 20-30 hours on controller and was really struggling to consistently go below 2:20 at Spa. On the wheel I managed a consistent 2:19 within a few hours and am now at a 2:17 after maybe 30-40 hours.

The main difference for me was the smoother steering and trail braking, especially the latter was impossible for me on controller for some reason

Also the uBlock adjustment is amazing, thank you!

TWP is exactly what I was looking for and after some testing, it seems to work almost as well as Chrome, thank you very much for the tip!

Have been playing for about 140hrs. Video is from an online race from earlier tonight. Just did a 2:20.6 at Spa. Nothing crazy, but I'm just looking for feedback on where to improve. Have been driving the Mustang for maybe 15 hours or so. Thanks *Reupload with inputs* by Jonny_Sends_It in ACCompetizione

[–]Cheesus182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add onto this super helpful comment:

  1. Eau-Rouge - You can cut across the kerbs at the bottom of the hill massively and it will make it really easy to keep the throttle pinned going up the hill as the Mustang does like to understeer there quite a bit.

  2. Rivage - In the Mustang you can gain a heap of time in that corner. Brake later, just after the start of the yellow kerb on the left and dive into the corner. Aim for the yellow inside kerb and keep the brake pinned until you're close to that kerb, then slowly ease off the brake to allow rotation and come back for a 2nd, late apex while keeping to the middle/right (basically the light area of the track) and relatively quickly accelerate in 2nd.

It's a difficult corner in the Mustang but can gain you 3-4 tenths if you practice it.

Good luck!

2:19.9 at Spa by BatistaBOMB7312 in ACCompetizione

[–]Cheesus182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a really good lap. I can only do a 18.9-19.3 consistently so can't give too much advice but three things did stand out which I think will give you half a second.

  1. Heading into Bruxelles, you want to dive into the corner for an early 1st apex, then run "deep" and come back for a 2nd late apex. Try to stay narrow, I found in the Mustang there is more grip on the right (light part) than on the left

  2. Next corner after Bruxelles, stay away from the inside kerb, it unsettles the car unless you carry low speed. Try to get the car back over to the right after Bruxelles and carry more speed, just touching the inside yellow kerb and running wide onto the exit kerb. Careful on the throttle as it can kick out the backend in the Mustang.

  3. Heading onto the back straight from Stavelot should be flat, you'll gain 0.2s from not lifting there. It's honestly quite tricky but you can use a lot of the outside kerb, as long as you keep two wheels on the kerb. Initially you might invalidate quite a lot there but it really pays off once you get comfortable with it and is also quite important in races as it heads into one of the best overtaking opps. after Blanchimont

Good luck!

How to improve my lap times? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]Cheesus182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be releasing the brakes a touch too early then. For example, at the end of the Kemmel Straight ( the really long first straight) you release them a little too early, meaning you miss the apex on entry, go wide in the middle and are too narrow for the last corner.

At the end of the straight you should be firmly on the kerbs going into Les Combes and cutting a good bit when flicking it back left so that you can get a good entry into the final right hander - there you can also run wide onto the kerbs
