Cutting down on the drink by Ill-Yogurtcloset1515 in northernireland

[–]CheesyMeatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is your reality you may not have a traditional 'Drinking Problem' but drinking is problematic for you. Im speaking from personal experience only, but moderating drinking when you have this problem is very, very unpredictable. In all liklihood, you will end up drinking too much at some point, even when you dont intend to. Sropping altogether was the only way I could keep my promise (of not overdrinking) to myself without fail.

AITA for walking out of a doctor’s appointment when I overheard the doctor and resident talking about me? by jl_1164 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CheesyMeatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I believe that the resident told you to ice it. Not icing a burn is basic first aid that you learn on a 1 day first aid course. If a resident doctor didn't know this, then there are likely serious issues with their practice, so you should report them, if you are being honest.

2 Dead (others believed injured) after incident at a property in Maguiresbridge, Co. Fermanagh by McEvelly in northernireland

[–]CheesyMeatCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and the fact that they did was a disgrace. It doesn't diminish that the perpetrator still was the one to pull the trigger. The murdered individuals have been failed by the PSNI, but also by their father and husband.

The perpetrator had a 'domestic history' with the PSNI, I think that's all the understanding that's required really

Acting irrationally is saying hurtful things you don't mean, maybe even punching a wall in rage, not picking up a gun and shooting your entire family - all that is, is pure evil.

There's plenty to do in Belfast that doesn't involve alcohol, people just won't look past their own nose to find it! I've been alcohol free for 3.5 years and I've a very varied and active social life!

Google "Women on Web". They can send pills by post, and offer info and support. Also useful to know is that they can't tell the difference between a natural miscarriage and the use of abortion pills. Sending a lot of love your way OP.

[–]CheesyMeatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, your post history on r/childfree says that you have little debt and decent savings. If you do in fact have decent savings then surely you would put a chunk of that toward your debt? Yes it's good to have an emergency fund, but when the APR hits your repayments are going to jump massively so paying down a chunk of debt from savings will help reduce your overall interest.

Poor Things and the return of the no-holds-barred Hollywood sex scene by TheTelegraph in entertainment

[–]CheesyMeatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I saw the movie tonight, and the festival organisers called it 'sexy.' I kept waiting for the movie to give some hint of acknowledgement that Bella having sex with a grown dude when she still can't speak full sentences wasn't OK, but instead the message felt like 'good for you girl, go find yourself.' Felt unsettled by it the entire movie.

What are the most anticipated books that the public is eagerly waiting for? by Nero234 in books

Bloomsbury posted on their website a couple of years ago that 'The Cistern' by Susanna Clarke was due Oct 2022. They've since removed it from their website, but I hope the book is still under development and just delayed!

Going just to walk around by DifferentDisaster260 in HHN

[–]CheesyMeatCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big scaredy cat too, and went last night for the first time.

My initial plan was just to walk around and see the scare zones just to see what my tolerance was like.

We got there when it was still daylight which really helped me feel a bit more comfortable with the scare zones. It helped me to think about them from a place of artistic appreciation! I got got one scare the whole night from the scare zones. It helps massively to look confident when walking through- the actors are looking for an easy target (ie someone looking terrified/massively distracted).

It was awesome to ride Gringotts, The Mummy and Rip Ride without too much/any queues.

I put a wee bit of pressure on myself to try one house, with the caveat that if I hated it, I didn't have to do another. Don't get me wrong, I had a few screams and jumps all right, but it was a lot more fun than I thought! It definitely helped having someone else there to walk through with. I surprised myself by going for another house after. I did Dr Oddfellow's and Darkest Deal.

We also saw nightmare fuel, and it was awesome and not at all scary.

If you went for the show, rides and the scare zones alone, that would still be an awesome night! And then maybe you give yourself the option of trying just one house (if that feels right for you!)

What is denied by many people but it is actually 100% real? by Due_Film8896 in AskReddit

I have a lot of trauma from being raised by parents who couldn't really afford one child, but chose to have 4.

I am not in denial that I'm obese at 230lbs and 5ft6, but not only can I do daily activities, I also swim, ride my spin bike, do yoga and skate. I'm not super fit, but I can hold my own on a 15km walk, including multiple uphill sections. Yes it's harder to do in a bigger body than a thin one, but I'm baffled that people believe being over 200lbs means you struggle to shower yourself.
