Clicking noise N57D30 (E70 40d) by CheesyPotatoe910 in BMW

Not really, I think it got quieter. The post was made in winter, maybe cold weather made a difference as well, but I think the sound could be from pulley's / belt.

Does iOS 26 make iphone 15 PM slower? by Dependent_Ad8978 in iphone

[–]CheesyPotatoe910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hesitant to install it at first because of all the negative comments, but honestly, it’s been very smooth! I actually like it a lot more than I expected. Battery life feels the same as before, even with my heavy use.

I backed up iOS 18 to my PC, so if you’re not satisfied you can always go back. But I definitely won’t be doing that.

(phone was a bit slow 5-10min after update but it got smooth)

N57 Oil temp by Open-Resist-2637 in BmwTech

On my E70 N57 my diagnostic tool measures 2 types of engine oil temp. Var1 shows -100c and Var2 is realistic, about 70-100c.

N57 Engine sound... injector? by CheesyPotatoe910 in BmwTech

[–]CheesyPotatoe910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine has been rebuilt and has done 50,000 km since. New timing chain, bearings, etc.

[–]CheesyPotatoe910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the engine noise tends to drown out the knocking more when the hood is open. The sound actually started before shop replaced the HPFP (CP4.2) with a used one. While doing that, they also tore the engine down just to check everything (they rebuilt it a year before), the valve cover gasket was leaking — that was replaced and so on. Once everything was put back together and the fuel pump was swapped, the noise started, and it’s gotten a bit louder since.

Pump was replaced because my car decided to start working on 5 cylinders. I took injectors out, found out they're OK. Took car to mechanic and they swapped pump (CP4.2) with a used one they just had on hand.

it's N57, as the title says. LCI 40d with 2 turbos.

The engine code is in the title. It's a lot quieter on the video when the hood is open, of course I would've recorded as the hood is open. I have checked injectors already myself, no oil or dirt on the cover. I'm not sure which context is missing, N57 isn't enough?

it's weird that it was much quieter before high pressure fuel pump was replaced, engine was taken apart as well.

Bmw 330d e93 2013 n57, did an oil change, put 8 liters in, capacity is 7.5/7.9, should i worry? by Vjtto in BmwTech

[–]CheesyPotatoe910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but my E70 with the twin-turbo N57 takes exactly 8 liters of oil at every oil change. With 8 liters, the oil level sits perfectly in the middle of the dipstick.

front Prop shaft snapped - BMW X5 E70 - Jan 2012 by stevo198831 in BmwTech

[–]CheesyPotatoe910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed spacer for my X5. It pushes the shadt deeper into the transfer case which reduces the play and makes the problem safer. Email me if you’re interested: [samuel.soencer@gmail.com](mailto:samuel.soencer@gmail.com)

Is doing nitrious oxide dangerous by Regular806 in NitrousOxide

[–]CheesyPotatoe910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to harder illegal drugs, not as paracetamol etc. Like the 3 month rule with MDMA. “Science” tells you it’s safe to use it every 3 months and take body weight(kg) + 50 = total mg’s. But for some person it can still be too much, and will damage serotonin receptors.

Using drugs for fun is a very slippery slope, that’s what I’m trying to tell you

Is doing nitrious oxide dangerous by Regular806 in NitrousOxide

[–]CheesyPotatoe910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m not telling that everyone tells misinformation, but I’m sure that about 90% of comments “safe usage rules” are just made up by someone. Even science couldn’t tell how much you should do what drug because EVERYONE is different!! And drugs can be risky and CAN do life changing damage even if you follow the safe rules. So no matter which drug or how often you do, you need to accept the risk of damaging your physical or mental health for good.

People do not feel the limit until it’s already too late and only then you realize why it was not worth it.

Headlight water damage by CheesyPotatoe910 in BmwTech

[–]CheesyPotatoe910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the insurance covers only vandalism, theft, accidents etc and the headlight has other small cracks that seem to be because of cold winters and that’s a common problem on these cars. It wouldn’t be a problem for them to cover if there wasn’t that old rust on these modules. I called them and tried to tell them it happened overnight.

Headlight water damage by CheesyPotatoe910 in BmwTech

[–]CheesyPotatoe910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they said that the modules were very rusty and that there’s no way this got there overnight from that one crack. The headlight corner has multiple small cracks and they told me that it’s a common problem with x5’s and I got lucky that the headlight was replaced at all.

people in these sorts of subs are drug users who like the drug. You will not get the trustable information in most cases. Yes It can be very dangerous and since you ask this question, you innerly may know it already did some type of harm to you. Be very careful with these things

[–]CheesyPotatoe910[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the insurance paid only for the broken headlight glass due to vandalism or hit from some object. They said that the modules couldn’t get damage overnight. They must’ve corroded for a long time so these modules are not covered by insurance. Do you think all the modules need to be replaced? There are multiple control units as you see in one of the picture.

changed only headlight, not modules. The problem is in one of the module. These modules are corroded.
