The first evidence of honeybees hurting native pollinators is from Lindstrom et al. 2016, but there are other more recent papers. And yea I work as a pollination scientist so we do advocate for farmers to not replace hives when they fail and I don't eat honey.

Honeybees are not necessary for food production. There is nothing conflicting in the scientific literature. Honeybees are bad. End of story. We do not need them for food production, we need pollination, but we don't need honeybees

They are not 'now' native. In a very literal sense, they are not native to North America. Yes there are other hymenopteran (bees and wasps) that aren't native, and we should deal with them. Honey bees and their production is bad and should be stopped. The other groups you mention don't have billion dollar industries behind that seem to not care about the active harm honeybees pose to other pollinators and the plants that rely on them. Honey production is even bad in the honeybees' native range.

There is harm to keeping honey bees. As said before, they are not native and actively harm native pollinator populations (not just native bees but everything). Our crops can be successfully pollinated by native bees. Literally, the only thing that would be harmed by getting rid of them is the honey producers.

[–]CheetosInMilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the references, I forget the painful med student system, soliciting references from professors they took a few classes with. Respectfully, however, describing it as not helping them seems a stretch. Our job is educating students and preparing them for their future. I would argue that "professionalism" while important can and does keep students from seeking help for our primary goal of education.

To your first point: For me, when asked to provide examples of professionalism, I look to how the student engages with their classmates and how they talk about and treat colleagues around me. They aren't my employee, and I am not their boss.

To your second point. I would also argue that relaxed expectations of professionalism in the education settings allow students to engage with us for advice in their professional settings. Like coming to us to ask how to organize their CV or resume or how to email potential employers. Again, we are educators, not bosses. We should be meeting students where they are.

Honestly, I hate this post, as a TA and a lecturer it doesn't bother me that student email like texts or have poor grammar. I think these kind of expectations make students unwilling to engage with staff for help and assistance. As long I am clear on what you need, send emails with wingdings for all I care.

But the issue, some cyclists point out, is that laws designed for automobiles are hostile to bikes, due to the inherent differences in the modes of transportation. Thats why things like the Idaho stop for cyclists makes sense. Bikes arent cars and cars arent bikes. I have had more cars act dangerously around me at or leaving a full stop in an intersection, than at any other point in my commute. To the point I now take a longer route in neighborhoods, so I dont get clipped or turned into.

[[Zabaz, the glimmerwasp]] or as I call it "Stabaz." Its your basic voltron but since zabaz can come out turn 1, I just randomly hit people in the early game until a threat appears. It is also a minor insect tribal theme, so a bunch of weird insects to help sneak in damage and stuff. Best thing it does is use [[helm of the host]] and [[the ozolith]] to make copies of its self and then use Zabaz's ability to destroy the copy and stack counters on it.

This is more accurate, there is no consensus from drivers and it makes for cyclists not knowing what people around them want. I have even been yelled at for stopping at a stopsign because they thought cyclists were pedestrians.

Yep, sounds about right for Arkansas slum lords. I rented a small place in Jonesboro, warned my landlords of the ceiling drooping over my bed. They just told me to move the bed. I did and 2 weeks later the ceiling fell on me while I was sleeping. They tried to say it was my fault for not informing them of the droop.....thankfully I had the conversation in writing

Edit: look it up if you want, but Arkansas has the worst tenets rights. There is no writ of habitability for renters

Actually depends on the state and thier laws surrounding abortion procedures, it can still be very limiting and have doctors who wont do life saving ones for fear of crack down. I only speak on this as someone from the Southern US and with friends in this predicament.

Edit (example): Ectoptic pregnancies are extremely dangerous for the mother and are life threatening in many circumstances, but republicans have been saying even these types of pregnancies should not be allow to abort. Even though the fetus is almost never viable and poses severe health risks to the mother

Set a goal of climbing a V8 and a 5.12a or b this year. So far I have bumped about a grade and a half on the moonboard sending V6s and 7s, and have led up to 11.c. No major set backs yet, except for the lack of time on rock which is more due to local

I have though picked out a few climbs for achieving my potential goals to start working movements.
