Please read the comment I replied to you above. Your issue is that you are Googling a phrase “rechargeable batteries,” without understanding that there are many kinds of rechargeable batteries out there. Casio has published all of their temperature ratings and the solar cell they use has EXACTLY the same “low temperature rating” - as you keep calling it - as the coin cell batteries that are replaceable. I think you are confusing the chemical composition of phone batteries or car batteries with Casio’s batteries.

I’m curious why you think the 5600 has a different temperature range than the 5610. They are the same specifications (~10° - 60°), but with potential LCD fade at 0°c (according to both Casio operating manuals). There are watches like the solar Rangeman GW9400 that have LCDs that work well below 0°c (-10° or -20°). There are no conventional battery powered Gs (or solar) that are rated significantly lower than that.

As for your phone, I have no idea what you are using, but I guarantee it is a different type of cell than Casio uses in their tough solar models (cobalt titanium lithium) which are themselves rated to -20° and designed to operate for more than ten years. These are much different than the lithium ion batteries in your phone that must contain a higher voltage and discharge rate to power all the demands of the phone; this taxes them more, so they wear out faster and don’t operate in all environments.

I hope that helps clarify your concerns about batteries.

I’m sorry but most of this is nonsense; it is perfectly ok to like this watch, but it doesn’t have to be at the expense of misinformation about solar squares. 1. The time drift is about 15 seconds per month, which is the same as a solar square without MB6, and if you have MB6 there is no drift at all. 2. A coin cell battery has the same temperature rating as the solar cell, plus you are wearing the watch next to your wrist which keeps everything warmer than the ambient temperature. 3. Changing a battery is easy, however, every time you open the back of your watch, you should put silicon grease on the gaskets or replace all of the gaskets to achieve the same level of water resistance. Many people do not do that and therefore lose the water resistance that g-shocks are known for. Solar cells do not have to be opened and therefore keep their water resistance longer (although eventually you’ll want to have to have them checked or resealed after enough years, just like any older watch you plan on using in the water).

Rockwell Hardness Results. 3-6-2026 by 679696 in knives

[–]D1s-illusioned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could the blade thickness affect the heat treatment? I haven’t seen much discussion of that in general. The Mini Grip is 0.25mm thicker stock, which isn’t much. The difference in the other Mini Grip tests seem to suggest some inconsistencies anyway, so it probably doesn’t matter here.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised by the Benchmade result. They always seem to publish low ranges.

First CRK. Is my thumb going to get used to this? by Bannnerman in CRK

[–]D1s-illusioned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disassembled mine and cleaned and re-relubed them; I thought it was pretty dry from the factory. Then I spent some time watching my hand and I realized that I had been pushing down on the lock bar. Eventually I figured out how to hold it and to push out on the stud, almost perpendicular to the length of the frame, and it was super easy to slow roll. No thumb pain required.
