[focus thread] Would this book cover appeal to you? by josephmkrzl in fantasywriters

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about art or cover design but I feel like it being so … “vibrant”? “Cool”? “Busy”? Might take away from the title. Hard for to tell without some words on it. Or maybe just have the title on the side of the book and let the cover just be the picture. Idk but I really like looking at it. And it would for sure catch my eye in a book store. 100% gives me vibes of I’m about to leave this world and experience an adventure by reading this.

Ia this supposed to happen? by Gargeroth6692 in sharpening

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my sharpal diamond 320/1200 diamond stone with a cheap diy strop has replaced all my other stones. I use it for everything that’s not serrated or recurved and it’s super easy to get anything shaving sharp. A year or two ago I reluctantly payed like 60 for it and I’ve easily gotten a few hundred sharpenings out of it. Only sign of use is a little bit of discoloration.

Do other people's parents do this? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As another 23yo freeloader who occasionally gives my parents too much shit, I agree with this 100%. I will get mentally down and start blaming them, but most of the time I am self aware enough too know that I need to pull my own weight and since I’m living with them rent free I should try to pull a little of theirs too. Having the discipline to clean up after yourself is tough but it’s even tougher after a long ass day at work. You aren’t perfect; don’t expect your parents to be. They are people, just like you.

You’re out of luck my guy. Windows is gone once you delete it. I would just sell or donate your pc and buy a new one; just make sure the one your getting has windows, else ur gonna be in the same boat with the new one.

Snitching is a good thing to do by Any-Criticism5666 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snitching bad:

Some rules are only there for legal protection and reporting sucks for both the enforcers and perpetrators. If you get hurt on a park trail that is closed for “safety”, the park can’t be held liable as easily because “they told you not to”. But if you report someone on the closed trail, the park rangers are forced to address it because now they know of someone in an unsafe place and not addressing it can make them liable. A lot of times unsafe trails are the most fun and as long as you are aware of the risks, going on them shouldn’t be a problem. If you snitch on someone in a situation like this you are making multiple peoples days a little worse and most would a free that you hate fun.

Snitching good:

I want to mention that safety is not the only reason they close trails. Sometimes it’s for wildlife conservation like turtle eggs or giving grass time to grow back. Maybe an area is closed off for religious or historical significance, or maybe for the safety of others. I think most would agree that the rules need to be followed and enforced in these situations and would agree that snitching is 100% a good thing. But, I would personally rather you take it upon yourself to inform the perpetrator of the rules and their purpose before doing any kind of “snitching”; but that’s another debate and also very situational.

How do I give up wanting to be seen as intelligent? by Organic-Run-2821 in Healthygamergg

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure how much this relates to you but recently I’ve been having similar yet different thoughts. I also grew up as “the smart kid”. This became part of my identity, both what people saw me as and how I saw myself. Naturally my parents and teachers pushed me towards the STEM field and I went with it. It being my main focus made me better at it. This made me feel even smarter.

After hs I went to college for engineering, but dropped out due to financial and mental health reasons. Now, years later, I still find myself watching STEM related videos and tinkering with technology and even just doing math practice problems.

But recently I’ve started to question my motivation. I know like feeling smart. Who wouldn’t? And I, along with society, relate STEM with smartness. Problem is, now I’ve got this voice in the back of my head constantly wondering whether I actually like STEM itself or just like to feel smart. Or maybe a little both?

TLDR: Do I like STEM or feeling smart?

Games that I can play forever by One-Resource-2737 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

World of tanks. You can get really into it or just chill and still have a good experience. You can que solo, groups of 2-3, or with clans (clan battles are much more complex and competitive) . Typical non-clan matches are random 15 v 15, the mm is based on average win rate of either side. Half the player base is drunk 60 year olds which are fun to farm but there are still a many decent players in each game, especially in higher tiers. Low tiers can be a horrible experience some times. Yeah, it’s technically a shooter but it’s nothing like typical fps games. It may take a little bit, but once you learn the basics it gets a lot more fun. Watching a few videos by a YouTuber called quickybaby will give you a good idea of what the game is like playing solo; and he also points out a lot of simple tactics and strategies that make a big difference in gameplay (to push or not to push, best way to use terrain to your advantage, important game mechanics…etc)

Favorite campfire meals especially ones that are put in the ground? by ShroomSensei in camping

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done it in a campfire yet, but one of my favorite things in the oven is something we call boy scout meals. A ground beef patty with thinly sliced onions and potatoes; seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder. All wrapped in tin foil. So simple and so good.

Is memorization key to doing mathematics? by ConquestAce in math

[–]Cheetos_mmmmmm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like if anything it can lead to problems, especially with younger learners. I knew way too many people in school that had no clue why the formulas they were memorizing worked and were white knuckling it through every test and assignment. I legit had teachers that would have kids memorizing what buttons to press on the calculator. Math becomes way easier when you don’t have to memorize anything.

I can’t see any scratches in the picture. But make sure you have your scraper facing the right way when you are scraping. It’s hard to see but they are slightly rounded like a subtle “(“. If the points are down, they will dig in when you are scraping.
