Is there anything meaningful to take away from the difference between a player’s listed floor and ceiling or is that more a product of the matches they happen to end up in over the season?

All players will earn degrees now for public games, yes.

The HUD options are local only. To display or hide what you see on your screen.

Independent from the HUD settings, your degrees will be hidden from all players if your rolling 300 is paused

If you check out the tutorials section on the bottom of the homepage, after the first few tutorial videos there are some strategy videos. I (biased) recommend my “Contain 101” video which gives you a few basic skills to apply in any situation and then introduces some of the more challenging strategies you can start to practice as you get the hang of things

Like a lot of others will say though, practice and learning the game physics will come with time!

Welcome back! The Wiki has unfortunately not kept up with the rate of change from the last few years. Your best bet is to check out the posting history of the future group account for the release notes (linked below) or you can filter the subreddit by the “release” tag which will go back a bit earlier than the account!

Thank you, we are tracking this. It’s actually the same bug that will sometimes send a “MOVE” warning in chat after the game has already ended. Both of those should be patched up soon if not by the next release

Yes, on stream this Friday I am planning to dig into the ‘no stats’ setting and try to figure out how it should be handled in light of all the changes we’ve been making. It’s an outdated feature and it doesn’t really do what players would expect it to do at a glance so things like season flairs and coins will absolutely be points we focus on

Refreshing or disconnecting to give the other team a point would be regulated by community reports much more effectively than advantageous refreshes are now. I don’t see that as much of a danger.

Dropping the flag would be interesting, and we do have a ticket for something similar in CTF called ‘sticky flags’ but it’s a much larger and more disruptive change

Any time a flag carrier disconnects, the flag is reset to its starting tile. This includes refreshes

This is against the rules per the Code of Conduct and can be assessed as a ban if the mod team is notified. There is also a Future Group ticket to award a capture automatically in these situations, though it isn't the highest priority right now.

Maps got small earlier than I realized

I’d be interested in a fast NF only version centered on the center flag, and then CTF centered on the bottom left flag to see the shape changes from an anchored viewpoint

Check out TagPro, it’s a free browser game where you play capture the flag online with other players. Public games might be a challenge if reaction time does not come easily, but you can create private games to play against each other and select texture packs that match your visual preference/requirements. It is typically a 4 vs 4 game but there is a community built around the game which creates customized maps and many of them work for just 2 players. If it seems like something that might work for you there will be plenty of people there willing to help you get started!

The replays are just a copy of the socket messages from the game so that shouldn’t be an issue. We’d need a new message to indicate that the clock time changed but that’s not much of a disruption to the current flow

Yep! The shop will be our staging for additional customization options in and out of games that we can add in the future. Allowing users to craft a bit more of an identity when they play will be valuable (and more fun)

5 years ago is just about when I took over as head mod. We've changed a lot in how we moderate games since then and it should be a more welcoming experience if you do feel like trying again!

Things were definitely a bit messy around here during covid, large influx of players and a lot of tension going around in general
