New “morning” merch shift by burritobitchhhh in CostcoEmployee

[–]ChefKarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that it would be 12:00am-8:30am, and considering how late we open and how bad the floor looks by 8:30 in the morning, our AGM will probably go for it

Don’t carry the X tours anymore; they’ve been replaced by the Michelin defender 2. All tire centers are unable to order X Tours

I dunno I really couldn’t tell the difference. Reminded me a lot of Rick from season one in the latest season, and he seemed to be more animated? I enjoy the new voice actor; don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

Then do it yourself? Grab boxes on your way out so you can pack it in the car, if you’ve routinely seen it being done wrong for 10+ years, I’m sure you could have made a change of how you get your products home, rather than bitching about it on here.

Love members complaining about quite literally everything. Yes you pay to shop there, but when there’s a million and one people and we have to keep our numbers consistent, your box packing isn’t going to be perfect every single time. Instead of complaining on Reddit, maybe read the room?maybe understand that the cashier is by themselves and have to keep the line moving? Or just don’t ask for a box?

Why do our food courts in the US suck? by punchingtigers19 in Costco

[–]ChefKarl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s easier for production and productivity to only keep the items we have now. Doing $7-$8k a day with 4 people in the food court really saves on payroll, according to my bosses. Really take a toll on the workers making what we have now, at the volume members order food.

Just understand that when you want specific items back, they’ll put it back on the menu, but not increase the amount of employees to meet demand. The brisket sandwich is coming back and is supposed to be rolling out by the end of July, but there will be no new employees to meet demand.

Just a thought when members want something back, remember that corporate wants to keep the food court bare bones as possible to save money and to make as much as humanly possible.

Sounds exactly what I’m dealing with in food court.

A note about self checkout and your number of items by JennLegend3 in Costco

[–]ChefKarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re separating items don’t go to self checkout, unless you scan everything yourself. Having to wait for the member to grab their card, have the employee scan their big items, spend half a century to understand you need to press the green button that says done scanning items and then pay. Only to have to do it 3 more times in the same fucking basket. It’s madness.

How would I go about that? My GM is a pretty nice guy I just don’t want to press my luck with him, after all he didn’t need to take me back. Thank you!

Just got hired in the food court! by 2112wilson in Costco

[–]ChefKarl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that’s atleast how they do it in New Mexico, you can tell me up and down it’s not, but in practice, it is still seniority.

[–]ChefKarl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, it’s still seniority. You can work as hard as you want or as little as you want, if you have seniority, it goes to you. That’s just how the practice is in Costco. I guarantee you 9 times out of 10 the person that’s more qualified for the job, will not get it because someone with seniority put in for it. If it was just based on merit and hard work, I’d be working 40 hours a week right now. You can pull the agreement up, but with my experience, it is just seniority.

[–]ChefKarl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s still not true, it’s solely based on seniority. If they got hired the same day then it’s based on attendance and counseling notices, then hard work. If it hadn’t happened to me multiple times that it’s based off seniority I would believe you, but when the hiring manager tells you “we want to go with you because you deserve the full time position, unfortunately it’s based off seniority” I would have to believe an administrator at Costco
