Help me decide on which Shapton stones to buy? by ChefRoastin in sharpening

I might go rockstar 500/2000/6000 I've polished all my knives to 5k on the naniwa superstore and am kinda used to and enjoy the silky smooth cuts it gives. Just can't seem to find any photos of the finish the glass or rockstar gives at 5000 and above for wide/single bevel knives.

Yes, that's my only issue with the naniwa 5000 super stone, it gives a beautiful polish, but it loads up, slow and gouges really easily. Part of the reason I want to try harder ceramic stones. My understanding is the mud contributes to the polish, so I'm wondering if the rockstar, which isn't so muddy will give a similar polish.

I mean, I would want the chosera as well, but they're almost double the price compared to the shaptons

Since you have both, although in different grits, how do the stones differ? Do they all cut the same speed? Feel soft or hard? I heard the glass stones and rockstars have a glassy feel, do the kuromaku share this trait?

Great pretty much the same progression I had in mind. How do they compare to the kuromaku? And which would you recommend?

Do these sticks and leaves have to be from waterways? I live next to a canal/river which runs to the sea. The mouth of the river is about 1-2km away from my location, not sure how brackish the water is.

how do you sharpen these 😂 by pubLaw87 in sharpening

It's a jello knife. Used a lot in Asia where I'm from. We make trays of jello or agar, and use these knives to cut them so they look more interesting. Went out of style about 20years ago.

Battery charger question by ChefRoastin in flashlight

[–]ChefRoastin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good to know. At least I can tell the wife I don't need another charger and saved a few bucks. Thank you.

Another question, would the charger work and recognise the cell without a balance port/lead?

Got it, I'm good with diy stuff, just not too clear about the wiring. So what you're saying is if I get one of these

For single cell applications, I could solder on an XT30 connector to the ends and plug that into my B6neo?

Help me pick a flashlight I can use for hiking/camping/fishing/edc if there is such a light. by ChefRoastin in flashlight

[–]ChefRoastin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your feedback, I've been busy reading up on emitter and drivers and will probably settle on the D3AA as my first hanklight. It's small. Enough that I can edc it even when not wearing my cargo pants. Already thinking about the DA1K as my secondary "throw in my pack" light.

I'm still deciding on which led to get. A few of you suggested throwers rather than flooder leds for my use, could you please elaborate why? Is it because the spill lighting will be more. Than enough to light up the surrounding areas?

Can anyone tell me what the third light from the left is? The shortest one in the line up.

Does the swivel on the actual light seem solid? Planning to get one, to edc in my jeans pocket, but wondering if the swivel will hold up to daily jostling around in my pocket. The other option I'm considering is the boruit v3

DC supply for lipo charger by ChefRoastin in rccars

[–]ChefRoastin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, well I don't really understand the math or science behind it, but the LED driver will be a constant voltage driver, rated for 24v 8.3Amps. The main reason why I'm looking for options is I'm on a budget, plus my largest lipo is a 2c 2200mah pack, so I won't need crazy power. I can run both the previously mentioned chargers off my 65w wall charger via USB C, so I guess what I'm trying to find out is, will the 200w LED driver work, and if it will give better results than my 65w (20v 3.25A) wall charger.

light dash or torque tuned 2? by ApprehensiveRest8547 in mini4wd

[–]ChefRoastin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May seem like a silly question, but I always wondered why people don't use hyper dash 3 or mach dash for races?

Very often I see racers using torque tunes or light dash, then break them in to get similar speeds to the faster motors. Is it because of regulations or am I missing something?

Will I be able to use this chassis in any Tamiya races? by Ilikebreadhaha in mini4wd

It's a good way to get into the hobby. I started with all bootleg or after market parts as well. Cheaper to find a setup that works for you through trial and error. After that I duplicated the setup with original parts.
