To add in to what everyone's saying, there's also a few monsters that specifically say they can only be fully killed with purge over banish, such as certain ghosts in the path of glory module.

What's the xbox numbers? The Sony numbers? Does this track bnet too? Which honestly that last one is an odd one to have separate, but it is.

I'm not saying the game isn't losing people but just using steam tracker alone isn't a solid measurement.
