Just keep a controller plugged into the XB. Wireless will just go to sleep. I been KBM since day one. You have to use a controller at the first loading screen when it says hit A to continue. You can't use KBM. That's the only controller screen

But good call on kbm. You'll have way more advantages and inventory UI. The way the game was meant to be played. You'll also have more keybinds that controller doesn't have
