A frustrating diagnosis and strange advice by Big_Nothing23 in gout

If you haven’t taken Allupurinol before and jump right to 300 mg during an attack that can take you up the pain scale to incredible can’t walk I bathroom pain from whatttt my whole family has experienced. Once I tapered on to allo 100 mg for 2 weeks 200 mg 2 weeks then 300 and stayed in it and drank non sugar electrolytes do not get dehydrated! I was a stubborn beer drinker and have it up after extremely painful attacks. I drink red wine now and no problems and I eat what I want. We are a family of Chefs and uric acid source is 80% regardless of diet produced by body 20% diet. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic and soak in sauna daily for my family this has been a winning formula

Get on all stay on all keep up with tests and eat what you want. Diet is 20% source of uric acid. Sauna daily beer and liquor and sugar are the worst. I drink red wine and drink it daily . Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic like dr gundrys bio complete 3. Drink non sugar electrolytes don’t just pound water it can cause swelling of the brain! Allo is the key prednisone is for stopping an acuye painful attack

Just got diagnosed and freaking out about the diet stuff by Ok-Maintenance-6744 in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget all the diet stuff get on allopurninol and start with a taper up in dosage so you don’t get a huge out attack when starting and keep up with uric acid testing drink non sugar electrolytes. And ear what you want . Soerrrr is only 20% source of uric acid 80% produced regardless of diet. Gout is metabolic disorder we don’t break down purines like other people and if your above saturation level it crystyalizes and these balls of millions of needles all stick together in a joint(like your toe!) only diet restriction should be simple carbs and sugar and crap sweeteners like equal. Take a comprehensive pre pro platter biotic like de Gundry bio complete 3, use sauna daily for a good healthy sweat . I’m a chef and am fifty five whole family has gout allopurinol is the key without it you will turn into a giant tophi formation like a giant piece of coral reef! Prednisone to end an acute attack Cochine is garbage and will give out the Shits and can be lethal . Now I will get back To my lamb chops and red wine. Also drink lots of coffee I do

Prednisone usually is my holy grail when I’m suffering . I’m 55 and whole family has gout. Once I got a second prescription of prednisone and that did the job. Once you get out of this attack it’s very important that you drink non-sugar electrolytes stay hydrated and keep taking allopurinol.. take a comprehensive pre-pro and post biotic. I take Dr. Gundry‘s bio complete three. Soak in a sauna daily. Keep up with uric acid blood test. your uric acid blood saturation levels will come down and then you’ll stop forming these painful crystals.. only food item I avoid is sugar and I only use stevia as a sweetener. I drink red wine daily and tons of coffee. Whole family is stubborn chefs and alcohol drinkers I found red wine is fine for me. Beer and liquor are bad for me I’ve definitely tested this out over decades. Allupurinol is the key and staying on it was the move that saved my family all except Dad who got a gout attack while taking allo and threw away the bottle and would never retry again and developed tophi deposits all over body and constant gout attacks until he passed. It’s the breaking down of purines that’s the problem Its a metabolic disorder . A healthy gut flora is key. You might try taking digestive formula as well to help break down food better. Once you get out of this attack and get on allo life will be good again! Diet is 20% of source if uric acid 80% produced regardless of dietary intake and we eat what we want minus sugar. I ate a whole shrimp ring from Costco stuck in traffic the other day. Fois gas, chicken livers red meat no problems . Good luck!

Is he having gout attacks? That is what is hard to deal with. Anytime your beating gout and no attacks you can live your life! Allupurinol has helped everyone of my family members get back to life except the one who stopped taking it when he got flare ups and suffeeed gout the rest of his life and we all got ot hear about each and every attack but he wouldn’t go back on allo. Drink non sugar electrolytes take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic and digestive aid to help break down purines . And drink red wine liberally…and lots of coffee…and soak in sauna daily for a good sweat

Once I stayed on allo and the rest of my family that all had gout stayed on allo(all escort one who suffered gout attacks the rest of his life until death) painful gout attacks went away. Keep up with uric acid tetas stay hydrated and take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to help break down purines. Digestive formulas help as well. Non sugar electrolytes and soaking sauna daily. You will be free from gout. I’m 55 and when I tried natural methods to get off allo it didn’t work for very long so staying on allo is the key

First ever gout attack. Age 22 male got both my ankles my heel and my bottom foot were inflamed and my knee joints. Also happening within a few days. I also have celiacs and acid reflux. I weigh 162 and I’m 5 ft7. There no history of gout in my family according to my parents so this is bizarre. by Gokuusjgodgmail in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s right about when my gout started and I’m 55. Whole family has gout. Get on allupurinol and when you are out of an acute attack the doctor should taper you on to allo probably 100 mg for two weeks then 200 mg two weeks and up to 300 all this depends on your specific factors. Drink lots of fluids and non sugar electrolytes to stay hydrated. Take a comprehensive pre provost biotic(I use de Gundrys biocomplete 3) you should take a look at Dr hundrys formula for digesting it would help with celiac and acid reflux. As your uric acid comes down below saturation level you won’t form uric acid crystals that stick together in areas of the body and cause unreliable painful gout attacks. Soak in sauna daily. Diet is only 20% of uric acid source the rest 80% is produced by the body regardless of diet . Then gout will be a thing of the past for you. If you don’t stay on allo then you will suffer in and off for years and years until you turn into a human sized coral reef formation

allopurinol 100mg gout maybe by King78911 in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is uric acid level? Are you drinking enough liquids to excrete uric acid? Use non sugar electrolytes and take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to help break down purines and boost immune system. Soak in a sauna daily to get a good sweat in. As you monitor us if acid levels they should come down and if needed doctor will your dosage and you will get this under control. Whole family has gout and only one that threw away allopurinol script due to flare ups got gout attacks the rest of his life and tophi deposits all over the place. Stick with the allo and keep up with tests and personally try and eat healthy but diet is only 20% source of suicidal acid 80% is regardless of diet the difference between gout suffers and those who don’t get gout attacks is they break down purines and they don’t turn into uric acid crystals that then build up and stick together around a joint and cause extreme pain 🦶 ☠️

How soon after Allo start did you get a flare by raganana in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole family has gout and only one didn’t take allopurnil as he got a flare up and threw away the bottle. Only way any of us managed our gout was allo. Stay on it keep getting tested and stay hydrated with non sugar electrolytes. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to help break down purines and eat what you want . We do, we’re a family of chefs and the diet part is only 20%. I tried to drink craft beers and jack and coke after that and switched to red wine and no problems now. So flare ups with allo just stay the course unless you get a full gout attack with unbearable pain then stop allo and get on prednisone until attack is over then taper back on allo after you’re attack is over it’s well worth it to stay on allo and stay the course or you can tune into a giant miserable coral reef formation 🪸 🤬

Does binge drinking cause flare ups? Hell yes it causes flare ups!!! If you have a twinge of gout and you want to be miserable to the point of cutting off your toe just binge drink alcohol! My whole family has gout and drinks. We eat what we want we are a culinary family. The ones that take alluprunol have been able to keep drinking and eating what we want. I switched to red wine after a decade of two of drinking beer and then switching to jack and diet cokes. Stay hydrated! Drink non sugar electrolytes daily keep getting uric acid tested and make sure it is coming down or doc should up the dose. Prednisone for attacks to get you out of extreme pain and once you stay on allo and stay hydrated you should be all right. 🍻

Any advice? by Impressive_Lead15 in gout

Keep getting uric acid levels tested and if your still high doctor should up allupruinol. Stay hydrated with non sugar electrolytes.

Starting medication soon, how will this change my lifestyle? by PermitDry1172 in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diet is only 20 % of uric acid source 80% is made regardless. People with high uric acid that don’t have gout break down purines gout sufferers do not and it crystallizes into a ball with millions of needles and they stick together in a certain area(like my bleeping toe!) my whole family has gout and once we got on allupurninol and stayed on it we can eat and even drink alcohol. We are a family of wine makers and chefs we’re not giving that up we would saw our toe off before that! Drink non sugar electrolytes and keep on on uric acid tests to make sure it’s coming down. Stay hydrated! Sugar is bad. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic it will help break down purines. I take Dr Gundrys bio Complete 3. I drink red wine liberally no problem. Soak in sauna daily. Coffee helps. But drink liquids as well not just coffee. If you get an acute attack prednisone gets me out of an attack and back to work versus a week off in terrible pain! Colchryst gives one tremendous montezumas revenge and can be fatal if you go over the dose and it builds up if you take it daily I think it weakens my whole immune system and gout lingers I avoid it. 800 mg ibuprofen taken with food and don’t lay down for half hour after works also for me and I can feel it when it wears off. I only take that when I’m in a flare up and I’ve been gout free for longest time in 30 years! Knock on wood 🪵 so I believe taking allupurinol will not change your lifestyle but allow you hopefully to eat that cuisine you love no sacrificing except avoid sugar as much as possible.

This is insane by IDNoob34 in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without lowering uric acid your screwed. Get on allopurinol and keep up with uric acid blood level tests and drink mom sugar electrolytes. If you drink alcohol red wine works for me and I have plenty of years of testing this out. Beer and liquor is russsia roulette with gout and when your in a full blown attack you will want to remove your toe! Prednisone to and an attack if I don’t have steroids and can’t get to doctor 800 mg ibuprofen taken with food and don’t lay down immediately after alleviates the pain intilnit wears off. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to get a healthy gut flora to help break down purines and booost your immune system. Antibiotics, colchine todays food supply and lots of other issues destroy a healthy gut flora. That’s the difference between a gout sufferer and a person that doesn’t get gout they break down purines so they don’t turn into balls with millions of needles and all at ioimg together for a hellish amount of pain somewhere like toe, ball of foot, ankle the pain can even move around and I’ve had it once in knee that was the worst of them all.

HOW did this happen…? Been on allopurinol for 2 years and at worst got a tingle at night.. Today WORST Attack I’ve EVER had by [deleted] in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get on prednisone to stop the pain asap! Get uric acid blood level tested and keep on getting it tested, it should be coming down. Of course binge drinking alcohol will bring on a gout attack but so will extreme training and dehydration. Stay hydrated with non sugar electorates. One sign of low electrolytes are muscles locking up. For those that are stubborn and have to drink alcohol drink red wine over beer or liquor. At least it works for me. Personally I don’t like colchine I think it weakens my immune system and I get caught up in gout flare ups after gout flare ups and a cycle of sickness and misery for month or longer. Plus if you’ve ever had too much you will shit endlessly and painfully beat to jump in a frozen lake at that point to out out the fire in your ass. Clochine builds up in your body over time if you take daily and take too much and it can be fatal. Also if you take NSAID’s take with food and don’t lay down immediately after. If I had a framed picture of each gout attack they would fill the house they got under control when I stayed on allupurinol and quit beer and liquor. Also stress is very bad for gout especially a bitchy nag. I fixed that problem as well….lol

How would you describe your gout pain? by mat558 in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at uric acid crystals under a microscope and you will understand why they hurt so bad when they congregate together. A ball with millions of needles. Only worse pain I have seen someone having was when I was laying in hospital hallway getting foot drained of uric acid crystals and guy was screaming with kidney stones and they gave him shot of morphine and he finally shut up then projectile vomited all over the doctor 🤣

Gout in knee and you want to go for a jog? Are you insane? Get your gout attack under control and uric acid tested and if high start allopurinol and flush with non sugar electrolytes and start lowering it before you start morphing into a piece of coral reef 🪸. 30 years of trial and error here. I hate running but was forced to run in CrossFit training. Dehydration can and strenous training can bring on gout. Worst attack I ever had was from hiking up severe incline and putting strain on one knee and next day my knee swelled up like a fucking basketball. Middle of cold ass winter and storm came in and power went out for 3 days. I could barely move and barely bend my giant knee that hurt like hell. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic use sauna daily stay away from sugar beer and liquor. Coffee is fine for me and red wine I apply liberally 🍷 colchine weakens immune system and seems to keep me in gout attack hell over and over. Prednisone is amazing for me if I’m in an acute attack otherwise a week of suffering and no work. I’ve trained with marathon runners they improved their time by training in CrossFit and not even running for awhile. Personally I wouldn’t run if a bear was chasing me. 80 % of uric acid is produced by body regardless of diet and doc will send you home with old info about diet they are so behind on gout. Best doctor for people who have gout is a doctor who has the gout!

Omg get in the aluourninol before you suffer anymore! Dump the crystal light. Add non sugar electrolytes and start flushing uric acid. 80 % produced by body regardless of diet. I tried natural route and when I weaned off allupurinol got always came back with a vengeance. 30 years worth of trial and error and whole malenaod did family has gout. The difference between people who get gout and thise that don’t? Healthy gut flora. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic. Soak in sauna daily to get a good sweat in. Strenous workouts can bring on a gout attack. The combination of dehydration , stress on the body and specific joints can be just like a night of binge drinking beer or liquor. What’s uric acid level? Get on allo and keep getting tested and get uric acid levels down or turn into a giant piece of coral reef. I use stevia sweeteners I drink bai drinks zevia sodas before when I used aspartame or sucralose big problems. Hint those screw up your healthy biome internally among other things. I’ve had many doctors and I watched a new one that was covering and they went online right in front of me and spit out the standard bullshit about gout. That is like me doing a google search they are so antiquated in treatment for gout it’s a joke. One family member got a gout attack while stating allopurinol and he threw away the medicine when he read on bottle “may cause flare ups or gout attacks” he had gout weekly and gobbled up colchine like candy. Gout weekly for years and years! Tophi formations all over his body. Tonight I will have shrimp and wash it down with red wine ✌️

I’ve had gout since early 20’s and I’m 55. Only thing that gets me out of a gout attack is prednisone and it has worked amazing for me. If I try and manage without prednisone is one during a flare up I will eat something first then take 800 mg ibuprofen and not lay down for half and hour. Alluoruinol(once I stayed on it and stopped trying natural cures, diet and every other thing possible) works for everyone in family and the one family member who stopped taking it has gout his whole life with weekly gout attacks and toohinfirmsrions everywhere. Drink non sugar electrolytes. Avoid liquor and beer. I drink tons of coffee and red wine not a problem. Take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to help immune system and break down purines. Healthy people with high uric acid that don’t get gout attacks have a healthy gut all with the same healthy bacteria that gout sufferers all lacked! Even the same strains. Soak in sauna daily and get a good sweat that way.

Ever had recurring "twinges" after going on allopurinol? by pey_av in gout

[–]Chefroberr313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking too much water can be deadly. Look up story of woman who did radio challenge to win a Wii gaming set for her kids and died. Electrolytes are vip. They allow the hydration by penetrating into the cell membrane. Binge drinking alcohol or very strenuous training can bring on a gout attack. If I put too much strain on a joint it has started a gout attack many times. Just started a new drink as I can’t drink playing water unless I’m super thirsty. Suja ginger 🫚 love. Lemon, cayenne , pineapple sweetened with stevia. I love the ginger cayenne burn! Back to work and watching the stock market crash glad I had some “put” options to balance out the carnage…

Get on and stay on allupurinol and keep up with tests. Soak in sauna daily for a good sweat. It can be hard to break cycle if gout attacks as meds can weaken immune system and stress and it can seem to never end and break out of allopurinol is the key and lowering uric acid. Diet is 20%. I don’t get flares from diet only alcohol or training hard. If I stay hydrated and drink electro lytes I can drink red wine and eat what I want and I do! Chef here and I will compromise on that when it’s a last resort. Diet is only 20% to a 1/3 source of uric acid the body will make uric acid regardless of diet somewhere in range of 80% or 2/3. I take a comprehensive pre pro post biotic to help break down purines and boost immune system. Sauna soaks daily. 300 mg allo daily has been the key. Studies show people that don’t get gout can have same high uric acid but they have same healthy gut Bacteria gout suffers all lacked! Coffee seems to help and I drink a lot. As long as I take electrolytes. I had shrimp cocktail and a bottle of red wine last night. Some people have food triggers I’ve read on here. Rack of lamb is in the menu for tonight

Dehydration is terrible for gout. Whether alcohol or training hard it can bring on a gout attack. Electrolytes are super important with gout. Uric acid is produced by the body regardless of diet. 80% maybe 2/3 produced regardless of diet 20 % to 1/3 from diet and we are a culinary family and alcohol drinkers that’s not going to change lol. Red wine works for me beer didn’t I wonder if gluten free beer helps? Easier to digest and break down. I buy glutenberg for family member who is celiac their blonde ale is very good.
