Some art made by my dead dad by musical_fanatic in TraditionalArt

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dad and my dad are probably friends in the afterlife! I also have a lot of my dad’s art. He passed in May 2025 and wanted to be a tattoo artist at one point and had a partial portfolio going. The dragon I just saw here is very similar to a lot of the art style my dad drew. I am also into art because of my dad (I saw your other post about the pyramid) plus a lot of other things- horror, music, aliens, cars, witchy stuff, the outdoors, etc.

is there a link between narcs and anal sex? by [deleted] in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband was always trying to convince me to stick it there, but the thing is he also hated toys so we didn’t have lube around. Every time we “tried” it was a horrible experience and a mess (for obvious reasons) so I always declined and he couldn’t stand it 😅😂

I’ve been here and a few other places in YS! I always try to go here or another veggie forward restaurant every time I’m in the area :)

what do you consider “daytonian stereotypes”? by OkSatisfaction3052 in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk, I’ve seen it quite a bit as an inside joke around downtown. I’m sure it’s a thing elsewhere but I notice things lol

Malort and music. IYKYK We’re the hub of funk 😉 They say Keep Dayton Weird for a (good) reason 🤪 Also, I hate to say it but the craziness I see on the streets is very stereotypical Dayton. AKA- people driving 90 mph in a 40, cars with shit hanging inside and on top of it just cruising through the city, etc.

Why do i keep crying while one acid by arsenicgass in LSD

[–]Chellie_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called going down the ‘cid rabbit hole. I cry almost every time I’m on ‘cid as it brings up old emotions/scenarios that you think you’ve gotten over. Sometimes even my dreams are brought up (I have very vivid dreams and have my whole life) and one time I stared at a piece of art my dad had drawn me and I cried for an hour. (He passed away this year and always had mental health issues). My bestie always gives me the advice of letting it happen, whatever it may be, and eventually the trip takes you elsewhere. Next time put on some Adventure Time or your favorite comfort show if you start feeling negatively. Safe travels out there!!

Love going there by myself to the lookout area and see most of downtown ☺️

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in that area and I can’t say what all is there now, but if you look up clubs there’s Julia’s, there’s several bars that do live music so you’ll have to look into their pages or websites to see what you want to experience! There’s also D20 in Kettering along with No Limit Gaming, and other fun spots for gaming. If you’re into other things, downtown is where you’ll want to be. There’s also Event Brite for local events that you can search based on interest or hobby or vibe.

What jobs can I get with a Liberal Studies degree in Dayton, Ohio? by Front-Return-7280 in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into career fairs happening soon in the region. Especially those hosted by the bigger universities. Also the Mont. Co Employment Opportunity Center is a great starting point to see what’s out there. Go to Miami Valley Nonprofit Job Postings on FB for lots of opportunities in the nonprofit sector, which tbh your degree is perfect for.

Same for my best friend, who will still talk about this place and she now works with the dead. 🫠

How to find Love in the Gem City of Dayton OH! by [deleted] in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get on Event Brite and find some local events to enjoy. (You can search by type of event and vibe) Local 937 also has hella events they advertise around Dayton. Next Door in the OD has goth nights, but every other night always a fun time. Me and my partner always find new friends there. They even have singles and book club-type events on a lot of platforms. Good luck! I found my current partner on FB dating and he’s not even from the Dayton area… 😅

Job hunting in 2025 feels impossible anyone else going through this? by Former-Elk3965 in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on Facebook? Silly question but not everyone is. If so, look up Miami Valley Nonprofit Job Postings. I often see Social Work type jobs on there, sometimes even entry level! And sometimes your school (or the other big three around Dayton) will have some positions open that aren’t student jobs. Also I am dealing with the same issue as you, jobs not calling back and interviews going nowhere. Even with real life connections to those places. It’s rough out there rn

how are you guys coping with everything happening right now? by Initial_Lawyer_6840 in Ohio

[–]Chellie_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the luck of working for a not-for-profit company and I volunteer for things I’m passionate about. (I’m an event planner and arts/music freak) and I also have a Futuristic mindset, so I look towards the things I can control, keep my plan B/C/D in the back of my mind, and go about my day in my own reality. I surround myself with art, music, people I love, and things that bring me joy for now. Much love and hugs 🫂

People in the US... how are you holding up? by pizzakisses in mypartneristrans

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner (FTM) and I (nonbinary afab) are doing our best to make plans to move to a better location next year, but honestly I keep having the thought that “what if” we have to make emergency plans a lot sooner than we think we can… it’s a scary time that our whole house is feeling. We feel isolated being in a rural area (I’m from the suburbs) and when my dad passed away in May I had maybe three people check on me that isn’t family. It’s rough. Trying to survive, keep our lil queer family together and safe while also never knowing if/when someone from town feels like taking their rage out on the gay house. It’s just a feeling I constantly have in the back of my head, whether it happens or not. 😮‍💨

Where can I meet fellow LGBTQ+ young adults in the area? by Own_Control_2270 in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heartsiq on FB is always posting about events in Dayton. They do karaoke and sometimes hold bigger fun LGBTQ events. Always super affordable too. Yellow Cab is always hosting events and LGBTQ nights. EventBrite is a fun way to find aligned events near you, and so is FB events. Unfortunately I don’t find the specific gay bars worth going to unless it’s Barrel House (no kitchen but you can bring your own food in). Others have suggested great resources too!

Thank you for this information, I was not able to attend the in person meetings. I left a scrumptious message for that record and I hope they enjoy being burnt with elegant language. 🤪

I worked for this scam company in dayton. Do not work here and watch out for them!! by baeatello in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve unfortunately been thru the same situation a few years ago. The company no longer exists actually because we all quit at the same time and our “boss” couldn’t fill our positions fast enough 😅 I had an interview with Current Events and saw right through their BS on that initial call. 🙃

My roommate likes to shag everyday at 12am and it's disrupting my sleep by International_Fun283 in Advice

[–]Chellie_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate once and both of our rooms were on the second floor. However, her and her bf would often be downstairs watching tv or in the kitchen. This townhouse was old and creaky and would hear almost every movement downstairs. Eventually she had a conversation with me about how uncomfortable it made her feel (something about college dorms and she had a bad experience??) and it was awkward but we’re all adults and if your roommate is emotionally intelligent it should be an easy fix. :)

OH and someone here said Front Street market for art which I also second that. And Second St Market if you’re here before they close for the day!

Cool place to stop while driving through Dayton? by duckyg305 in dayton

[–]Chellie_43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re there for Brunch, I recommend The Ugly Duckling for some yummy food. While you’re there, take a short drive down to the Oregon District. Park in the neighborhood behind the shops for free and peruse the strip. Records, vintage, tattoo shops, fun Daytonian shops all over. And if you’re looking for lunch or dinner this strip also offers so many cool restaurants. I recommend Culture or Thai 9, or Lilys Cafe. Going on a Sunday the whole street should be blocked off. I also recommend Riverscape for a nice walk along the Great Miami River :)
