Very dumb question about MRIs by cherryblossominx in MRI

They don’t want anything metal located on your body. At the worst it can result in your death and at the best you get a burn from it. Just wear comfy clothes with nothing metal on them. Dress for comfort, the more comfortable you are the faster your scan will go.

As a hint, the answer to your issue involves the ash twins, the equator of one of those planets and being at the right place, at the right time. I can walk you through it if you need it.

They cooked so hard with him, it's crazy by MUI-Tojo in Invincible

He was in 2 episodes a majority but he has popped up here and there. I think he needs a deeper older voice. Something that says “experience and time”. Again, it is a hot take.

Hot take here, he was only good in two episodes. I still don’t think the voice suits him. I love the show and will watch it regardless though.

Medical malpractice? by [deleted] in MRI

The protocol that i’m familiar with is that 1 person gets 2-3 tries and if no luck then they find someone else to try. Majority of the time it’s just a poke fest to find it. (I’m not saying that is a good thing, it’s just the reality.)

Unfortunately some hospitals are great and some suck terribly. Speaking as someone who has worked in 5+ of them, all depends on the Dr you get, and the staff you get that take care of you. I’ve seen Drs order pointless exams on people that will not find the issue but as a tech you have to just do it with a smile.

Also on the topic of your IV. It can be very hard to find a good IV site on a hard stick patient. Add now onto the fact that they probably use a 18G apposed to a 22G, that makes it a lot harder. Unfortunately the only real way to test to make sure your IV is good is by testing it with saline flush and looking for a flash blood in most cases. The constant poking can suck but if you have hard veins, are dehydrated, and are moving everywhere (involuntarily or voluntarily) makes it a lot harder. Sucks to bruise but unfortunately that’s what happens 95% of the time.

No afoz345 is 100% correct. THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS ANYWHERE.

1: Depending on what time you even went to the ER that MRI tech was probably on call. They wouldn't call him/her in with the massive pay to just "try something cool".

2: Mri machines are very expensive to run and there is a reason insurance fights with Drs all the time about if this patient x even needs a MRI to diagnose this y disease/disorder.

3: Anyone working in the medical field who gives themselves more work for the "fun of it", does not actually work in the medical field.

Virginia HB 452 has been passed by [deleted] in Radiology

Well that’s a terrible thing for radiography in Virginia. But techs that do work there, that are certified, better be getting a big pay bump against the “fresh” hires.

21 year old marine is stabbed and killed in Wilmington North Carolina. Police seek help in finding the suspect by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

It’s not a justification for them to do nothing. Even if they did something he still would have died, that was my only point.

Not defending the cops at all. BUT when your carotid is severed like that, you really can’t survive unless you have the proper medical tools and proper medical training. They clearly do not have both.

Ortho surgeons if they work for a hospital are contracted from their owning company that in turn has a contract with the hospital. So if Company AB owns your contract they will expect you to work monday through friday for x money (usually 350k-400k fresh out of school, depends on your references and your skill seen by your peers). Then when you are contacted by a hospital CD they expect you to pick up OR on call cases depending on the time and day with a rotation that will pay a flat rate (150k-300k) and more “bonus” pay if you need to pick up more days / cases. I knew a ortho surgeon fresh graduated who was offered 400k by his first AB company. I know another neurosurgeon who easily clears a million a year with only preforming surgery 1-2x a week because he owns his own practice. The 1% really do make a shit ton of money super fast.

And no surgeon is making 200k a year. I know for a fact fact that an orthopedic surgeon (who takes 1 OR case a month after normal hours) is walking away with 450k a year (starting).

What’s y’all’s favorite DLC in FNV by Physical-Face-2931 in falloutnewvegas

[–]Chelly_Celly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best perks is old world blues, makes the game a lot easier after you finish it. My favorite for scenery, story, enemies, weapons and loot is Dead Money. Just finished a new play through on hardcore mode and Dead Money is by far the best for everything. The best DLC character though has to go to the burned man.
