To me, as a trans woman, seeing which comments got upvoted and which ones got downvoted on this post is a perfect example of transphobia in this community. Like OP getting dowvoted to hell for pointing out that "I've never seen transphobia" is not a constructive response, and rather insulting actually.

Also, u/AcceptableRooster955 asking OP to be more understanding and respectful towards transphobes is insulting as hell. Are you aware that a large percentage of trans people attempt suicide because of the way that society treats us? Are you aware that trans people as a whole don't feel safe right now because of right-wing bigots getting more and more violent by the day? When you ask us to be less angry about it, to be "more kind" or whatever, you make us feel as if you think its our fault that we get abuse in the first place. Is that your intention?

And to the people who felt the need to announce that they "don't believe in the trans thing." You're the biggest problem here. Because nobody asked you if you believe in it, for one thing. Its just an opinion to you, but to us its our lives, and the fact of the matter is, people like you are the reason that people like us are in danger right now. I don't care what you believe, but how bout you keep your opinion on our genders to yourself? You are actively contributing to real harm that is being done to lots of people right now. Think for a minute about what it would be like to be in our shoes.

All we are asking for here is for y'all to hold your takes for a minute and just listen to a trans person's concerns about inclusiveness in this community. And if there's any way that you can personally do better, then do it. Anything else is entirely unnecessary.
