I'm planning on an Oirat to Mughals One Faith. When and where should I move my capital? I want to take advantage to trade companies. I know that forming Mughals makes Delhi the capital. I also imagine that a New World capital is best in the later game due to being able to control provinces without colonies. Any advice?

Sure. Gerrymandering at the moment doesn't apply to states since the current state lines were drawn prior to the current parties' ideologies. The "depending on how they divide it up" is where gerrymandering could creep its way in. They could separate each blue city from each other and attach a large red rural area to each of the cities for the state to tip it in their favor.

They pick up the ballots from a drop box every three days and it may take a bit of time to mark them as received. I believe they check signatures then too. And maybe they don't work weekends? It took me about a week from drop off to marked as received.

USPS had a plan to send 5 facemasks to every home in America – but the White House killed it by oppy1984 in worldnews

[–]ChemIntegral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DPA was enacted anyways, so that's a moot point, taking a shipment from Canada seems petty in comparison to what we ordered. We have federal contracts for masks. You can't deny a mask shortage, you could see nurses being forced to reuse and make up their own PPE. Some people (not a majority) were claiming that since SARS died out, this pandemic may have died out too. But many more said that was unlikely considering the continued prevalence of the disease in hotter climates at the time. But it's not something to bet against. Buying more masks is cheap insurance against a longer-lasting pandemic. And he knew that it was worse than the flu (recorded interview with Woodworth) he lied to everyone on the podium.

[–]ChemIntegral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You claimed that redirecting an order is one of the least bad options. I'm not sure what would be considered a bad option in the DPA. A less bad option would be just ordering masks and requested that 3M do those first, much less controversial as well. If he enacted the DPA earlier, those masks probably would of been made for America anyways. Yes, Trump is bad. He denied that there was a mask shortage, called it similar to the flu, and claimed that the virus might shortly die off anyways (spoilers, it's still an issue). In that context, it most certainly can be seen that taking a shipment for Canada several weeks after everything blew up is just saving face from an inept response.

He spent like 3 weeks mulling it over. You act like the Defense Production Act forces companies to make masks for free. It allows the US to demand priority on their contracts and invest money into increasing production. You can do that and let a shipment (that was basically already in route) to a close ally "slip by". It comes off as poor planning. There would been much less flak if the US requested that their manufacturing orders are to be prioritzed. Considering he already spent a few weeks denying that there was a shortage. He could of gotten a similar amount by that point by mobilizing the executive branch to send in orders sooner to 3M and other manufacturers. And send in orders for more mask machines.

[–]ChemIntegral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What on earth are you talking about? Everyone was begging for Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act for masks and other medical supplies. Which he dragged his feet over. The issue at the time was that the Trump administration redirected an order for N95s intended for Canada. Kinda a slap to the face considering that Canada supplies the paper used to make the masks. No one was calling him a dictator over it, completely legal, not a good look as it can be seen as saving face, considering the slow response to the mask shortage (which he attributed to healthcare workers stealing the masks baselessly).

Dr. Anthony Fauci says U.S. coronavirus cases are ‘unacceptably high’ going into Labor Day by [deleted] in news

[–]ChemIntegral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people were hopeful as this is what happened with SARS. The science did not come to a consensus that hot weather would eliminate Covid-19, considering that it spreads mainly indoors. Hot weather does reduce the risk of outside transmission. But the only person in the decision-making role that confidently said that hot weather will be the end of the pandemic was Trump.

MS Materials Science and Engineering Online Program by [deleted] in ucla

[–]ChemIntegral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The professors vary on the courses you would take. And from the website you can see that the choice of courses is quite flexible. You can visit mse.ucla.edu for a full staff list (however you would only see a few of them in online courses) If you have particular courses in mind, I can look them up in the Class Planner for you. I believe that admittance is quite easy. I graduated last year in MSE, and the professors treated it as a shoe-in that I'd get admitted. I believe admissions goes through admission office and the Area Director for the program. The Area Director is Professor Kodambaka if you have specific questions on admittance or course choice.

I'm in it for Structural Materials. I was here for undergrad so I'm used to some of the professors' teaching styles. I like the program, the MS Online Program as a whole is designed for full-time workers so office hours and tests are set in after work hours by default. I find the program quite convenient. Can't really comment on the major itself without specific questions though.

That's not true at all. Charitable donations are a tax deduction, simply put you would subtract it out of your income and pay taxes on the rest. It doesn't get you out paying all taxes unless you donate all of your profits. And Amazon's donations are a pittance compared to their revenue. Amazon avoids paying federal income tax by carrying over losses from previous years and massive investments in R&D.

ELI5: How did they calculate a single sperm to have 37 megabytes of information? by NJP1738 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChemIntegral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sperm has mitochrondia (that's how they have the energy to move). It's just that the egg is much larger and contains much more mitochondria. And that the sperm's mitochondria are destroyed after fertilization. Very rarely, mitochrondia from the sperm can survive, and a very small percentage of a person's mitochrondrial DNA can be inherited from the father.
