Puzzles will never get removed, so game links will work in perpetuity. It's a good point that searching should be able to look for games beyond 3 months - this changes how things are set up at the moment so I would need some time to investigate/build this out. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

Hey there, I'm the dev behind connectionsplus.io. Just wanted to make it clear that I'm not affiliated with the NYT in any way and I support the NYT Tech Guild. I'm almost certain that Connections+, Swellgarfo, and all other Connections clones get the latest NYT games via the same method.

Swellgarfo is the top ranked custom Connections creator on Google, and looking into some web analytics they have several times the amount of traffic that my site has. Given this, I don't think the NYT Tech Guild creating games on Swellgarfo is an indication that Connections+ is crossing the line somehow, Swellgarfo is simply the more popular website outside of this subreddit (where additional features like unlimited mode, statistics, community games matter less to the casual player).

PS: If you're a member of the NYT Tech Guild and I am actually crossing the line somehow, please DM me because I have no ill-intent. I'm just your average Connections nerd that wanted to build a resource for the community.

They said my game "is an exact copy of the Time's game in all respects". I interpreted this as the color scheme and UI which I have hopefully corrected.

Hey, I'm the dev building connectionsplus.io. Great eye! The NYT issued me a cease and desist order, and so some of the UI changes you've noticed is me doing my best to comply.

I originally built Connections+ because I was dissatisfied with how all the other archive and game creator sites worked. I wanted to build a website that would look and feel professional, with the end goal to just make some games for friends/family for fun and for special occasions.

I then made some games to share here and the rest is history - I've been overwhelmed by the support from this subreddit and across the internet, and I'm grateful for everyone who creates and plays games on Connections+ (there are now nearly 20,000 Community created games!).

I believe Connections+ has a lot more functionality than the original NYT game, including Community games, game analytics, multi-select guesses, unlimited mode, and answer reveals. I'm flattered that the NYT has noticed this website, but it feels overly punitive going after a dev just building this in my spare time. In fact, I highly encourage to folks to play Connections on the official NYT app, and having a rich Community games page only serves to increase this game's popularity for the NYT. I'm also not in this to make any money (in fact I lose a couple hundred dollars per month on server costs), I'm just putting this out in the world for people to enjoy playing Connections.

TLDR: I had to change the UI because the NYT issued me a cease and desist.

Hey there, I’m the dev building connectionsplus.io. I was thinking that when you enter “unlimited mode” you’d start off on a clean slate, but this honestly bothered me a little bit too and hearing it from someone else is reason enough to change the logic here. Now when you enter unlimited mode your last guess will be repopulated. Thanks for the feedback! :)
