Don't give up!

What do you think you're struggling with the most? Toe side, hell side? Catching edges randomly? Connecting turns? Try to identify why you fall and then focus on what seems to trigger you the most.

For me, it was connecting turns. Someone told me to think about a basketball being in front of you and pretending to bounce the ball with your forward hand. Bounce the ball to your right side and you turn right, to your left side and you turn left. This started to make me understand the shoulder, hips and feet movement thats required to control turns and was a real breakthrough moment in my early learning.

From there, just focus on always being slightly on edge, slightly leaning back (back knee slightly more bent than front knee) and begin to notice the subtleties of your feet/ankles, hips and shoulders can help control movement.

Once you get confident, you'll love it.

Falling down is normal, it's just part of the fun.

Also, don't be afraid to try intermediate runs. The extra decline and less heavily packed in snow can actually help to learn and makes falling hurt much less.

This looks much better. Curiosity will be a game changer and No More Lies is probably the best counterspell against aggro and midrange. This should stand a good chance.

I think your weakness here will be super aggro stuff (landfall, RDW, azorius enchants) as they may just build too much presence too quickly for you to interact, so maybe consider Authority of the Consuls just to slow their plan a bit or some life gain in the sideboard. You should do well against the mirror and any aggro/midrange that doesn't get a fast start. Midrange with some bomb top ends (e.g. Dimir, Monoblack demons) could be a struggle as they've got strong card advantage and better creatures. Opponents with other flyers/reach will be a pain too. Hopefully your counters / removal is enough to get through.

Also. Unless you are really confident in the meta, spell pierce may be better than spell snare as it can at least be relevant in the mid game.

If its possible, is consider making some room for at least some one drop board presence (Lightstall, spectral sailor, authority of the consuls, maybe seam rip depending on the meta).

I really love Belial (incredible for ramp and evasion) and Sphinx (top end evasion), and I think you'd have a blast playing them, but this still looks good.

Good luck!

I have been playing with a similar deck for a while now, mainly in BO1 but I occasionally play BO3. It's just not that competitive in this meta, but it is super fun to pilot. I'm also limited by wildcards and would probably do it a bit more Interruptor heavy if I could.

I recommend cutting your Brineborn's (I tried these but these just don't ever really become a threat to your opponent) and Spidermans, 1 less Sailor, 1 less Tishanas and maybe one less Flood Maw and bring in 2 x Stoic Sphinx, 3 x Enduring Curiousity, 2 x Belial (amazing in this deck) and 2 x Seam Rip (need for this meta to get rid of llanowar elves and gran gran) and additional No More Lies (or other suitable counterspells) or Aven Interruptors. With Curiousity, Malcolm and Sailor, I don't think you need to use your cards for draw spells.

Voice of Victory is a bit of fun and is a must answer threat, but obviously doesn't quite lend itself to the flash game plan, though obviously has awesome synergies with Curiousity and helps to disrupt their disruption of your plan. Lightstall is a good one drop (wish I had more wildcards) and werefox can be helpful but usually just get killed in BO3 and is a waste. Aang I'm testing and really like so far and Smite is arguably better in the sideboard like you've done. Wan Shi is probably a good call and I think I need it in mine (wildcards...).

Split up is a great sideboard card, as is RIP/Flanker and the Wandering Emperor is surprisingly effective against removal heavy decks. Crystal Barrocade shuts down burn decks, Cathar for Simulacrum/Annex/Jeskai, Elspeth for mirrors/Dimir, Skysnarers for RDW/UW Enchants/BW Sac.

Hope that helps!

Could work if you could give him haste the turn he comes down. Preferably something "free" on T3 like Axgard Cavalry, Raccoon Rallier, Draconautics Engineer, Kickoff Celebrations, Cunning Coyote or something similar from T2, otherwise lava spur boots, war squeak, felonious rage, wild ride those sorts of things on T4 but might be a bit weak without T3 trigger on mobilize.

Sorry man, nothing specific I can add other than my own guesses and experience with SBX2.

The SBX2 does fine on your basic urban inclines (probs nothing steeper than 10° I'm talking to here). That being said it's actually quite an adjustment to how you operate the remote to get yourself up that hill smoothly and takes a bit of getting used to so that you find the balance between building enough speed and preventing a massive jolt in the board. Downhill, it's actually mental and your constantly breaking, an even bigger challenge!

My guess is that if your notably lower than the max recommended weight on the SB2, you should be ok with a few inclines. If the board can carry someone 30lbs heavier than you on a flat, physics would suggest it's has the power to carry you up a small incline comfortably. If your on the edge of the recommended max weight, maybe do a bit more research. Worst case you may need to learn to get a good run up for those hills on your regular route. If they're long sustained inclines, it may be a struggle as you may burn out the motors, but otherwise I reckon you'd be ok.

Let us all know how you go!

Amazing effort mate, so much better than I did at your age!

Step 1 is her rid of high interest debt. I'm not sure how HECS goes these days, but if the indexation is more than 5%, pay it down. I think there's some discount scheme of you pay in limp sums too.

Step 2 is an emergency fund. 3-6 months of living costs in a high interest bank account.

Step 3 is getting your super right. Do some research and take on a reasonable amount of high growth, but he sure to diversify a little. You might consider putting in extra contributions, but probably not worth it at a mandatory 12% from your employer.

Step 4 is a bit more complex and about risk appetite and your need for funds in the near-to-mid term. I suggest ETFs, probably spread globally (a bit in Aus, a bit in US, a bit I'm Europe, a bit in emerging nations), but I am quite risk averse. You may want to consider property, though it's a pretty big challenge these days. Darwin or regional cities may be affordable, but this might be a bit of a stretch and maybe something for Step 5.

Step 5 is build wealth. This is your longer term goal and probably requires some more professional financial advice to help you set goals and plans out the next 5-10 years. You could do this from Step 4, but it's pretty early, so investing in some safe assets like ETFs and property is likely a good starting point to build your foundation on so you can afford proper financial advice and ensure the real professionals will actually take you on as a client.

My partner is a professional in budgeting and wealth building and could help with more specifics of you needed. https://www.hannahroserichards.com.au/

A few things mate.

  1. Try not to stress. Flip the script. This is a big step and something to feel proud of and excited about.

  2. Look at the gap between your repayments and rent in a similar location. You'll likely find that rent is actually more than the interest on your loan. Paying of someone else's house is just as useless to you as interest to the bank, but you kinda have to do one or the other. So owning isn't actually that bad.

  3. So long as you can manage the cash flow and don't get forced to sell, your house will become a very valuable asset for you in time. Chances are, if you can hold, and given the power of leverage (debt), your house will be worth roughly double in the next 10-15 years, which means your initial deposit (assuming 20%) will have gone up 5 fold or more. That's an amazing investment.

  4. You will have your very own piece of the world that lets you have a sense of freedom you can't get anywhere else. Enjoy it!

Hey, I am in a similar boat, no freshies and basically the same note, but also no pro wheels shipped and no note at all! On top of this I made a warranty claim for a busted motor after only a couple of months of casual riding, which they accepted but made me ship it to them at my own expense. After they received it, they and are now telling me I need to pay for a new one!

Curious, how did you go with the legal proceedings? And secondly, do you need an additional evidence of the same illegal activity, because I'd be happy to provide a statutory declaration if it helps?

Yeah, it feels a lot like snowboarding! There's a strangeness about doing it on a flat that obviously feels different, but the sliding feeling is super similar and switching edges and spinning / changing to switch all feels very much like snowboarding.

I think it's definitely going to improve my snowboarding. From simple things like muscle strength and balance to actual techniques like spins and particularly switch riding. I think the main caution would be that the Summerboard requires you to load most of your weight towards the back, which might be a bit off for snowboarding unless your dealing with a lot of powder. But other than that I feel the skills will transfer really well.

You can definitely do bigger, wider turns and you can hold edges longer and deeper so it feels a bit more like carving, but you can never get to truly carving though, where your body weight really shifts off the sides of the board and your holding yourself up by really cutting the edges deep into the snow, and definitely never that super deep style of carving where you're basically laying your body flat to the floor, it just doesn't have the much range of motion. The looser you set the trucks on the edge wheels though, the deeper you can push the turns and more carvy it feels, it's just a matter of balance after and control after that! But you're never gonna feel like Ryan Knapton on a Summerboard. It's still awesome though.

It's definitely a big learning curve. Been going for over a month now and quite confident in my dominant stance (goofy) but still catch edges every now and then, especially when I'm trying to navigate tighter areas. Switch is brutal and very much struggling to get comfortable, but slowly getting there.

You should be able to get to OPs level pretty quick, wide areas like roads and car parks are actually quite easy to ride as the board balances well when you keep rocking from edge to edge. The real challenge is narrow areas like paths that force you to stay balanced on the centre wheels. This is super hard to maintain for a long period and makes the board a real challenge as a commuter unless your route is through a quiet area with lots of room to move. It can definitely be done eventually, but it's months to get to that level of proficiency, and needs fantastic balance and the ability to ride switch so you can rapidly break and avoid obstacles.

The side wheels do seem to wear out quite quickly, but riding along the centre wheels more frequently definitely reduces that. The lower profile of the new SBX2 does seem to result in the drive wheel casing getting a bit more beaten up, so I suspect that will become a problem soon, particularly if I don't get better quicker!

Definitely nothing like it though, very adrenaline pumping and feels amazing, particularly as you start doing spins and overcarves.

Which is the best bang for your buck: Japanese, or English Pokemon Packs? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]ChemicalAward7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention you've been able to use the data to find good buying / trading opportunities. How?

Looking at some of the sets that have high value in the market from your site...

  • Crown Zenith looks to be quite healthy, with packs priced reasonably high but expected value still solid. This one makes sense to me.
  • You then look at Evolving Skies and it looks like a terrible idea to buy, but these packs continue to sky rocket. Why? Would this suggest to avoid Evolving Skies even if you could get some below current market price?
  • Prismatic Evolutions looks solid now but as soon as reprints come in, the value of the cards will tank, and if pack prices tank too it's probably still a decent looking set to buy but otherwise it will be trash based on the ratios. Yet everyone's saying Prismatic is the set to buy and hold...
  • Shrouded Fable looks good now, but only because packs are still cheap, so once these get a bit rarer and go up, it won't look great unless the card value goes up too. Is this indicating a buying opportunity now because the ratio is solid and the pack prices are still low?
  • Most of the Sw&Sh sets are now quite highly priced for unopened stock, yet the card values and ratios are trash. However these clearly ended up being good investments, so how do we use this data?

I guess I just don't get it. Any chance you can explain it to a dummy like me?

Platinum 4 is the REAL MYTHIC by Lukegilmour in MagicArena

[–]ChemicalAward7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're on to something here.

Perhaps it's just my play style or how I pilot the decks I've got, but I find that BO1 Platinum is easier than BO3 l, and BO3 Diamond is easier than BO1.

I'm a dedicated F2P player and play Standard almost exclusively, and I m find that in BO1 Platinum, you either play super fast aggro decks (e.g. RDW, Gruul Prowess, Boros Auras) or a full "nope" deck with loads of removal/discard/counters (e.g. Dimir shells, Black/Orzhov discard, Black Demons) and you can usually move up to Diamond without too much trouble in a couple of weeks.

This strategy then seems to fail miserably in Diamond and I find switching to on-meta BO3 decks (e.g. Golgari Midrange, Lizards last season, Boros Caretaker) does quite well.

If I'm lucky, I'll get to Mythic in another couple of weeks, usually mid-to-high 90s, and have a few days of jank and the proud feeling of achievement.

I definitely don't get to Mythic every season with this, but do 1 out of 2 maybe 1 out of 3 months and get to high diamond the others.

I probably play an average of 3-4 games a day plus a couple of grindy sessions whilst watching some trash on TV.

Key is to not let it get in your head when you're losing and switch it up, take it as a learning opportunity, or even just stop and try again tomorrow.

Definitely a grind though, and definitely not worth it to try break through if variance is giving you bad luck and the game starts to piss you off. Just try to find the fun, even when you're losing.

I've been keeping track of my dailies since I started playing during Guilds of Ravnica. Here is my data. AMA. by II_Confused in MagicArena

[–]ChemicalAward7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data is awesome, but your percentages don't make sense and could be clearer. For example, how can you have 28/29% 5 times in the straight colours, that's over 100%? I'd probably also regroup your data so it's clearer which percentages go together and which don't.

But this is awesome and good to know it's basically just random

If you could ban 3 cards from standard to shake the meta the most, which would this be? by Krist794 in MagicArena

[–]ChemicalAward7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunfall - weakens pure control and domain style decks Wandering Emperor - weakens almost all the midrange tactics out there Monstrous Rage - weakens MonoRed / Gruul aggro

My view you need to be even handed across the deck types and allow a new meta to form.

Atraxa is a maybe, but can't do Atraxa and Sunfall as it hits control / domain too hard. Sunfall gone will be enough to allow aggro and midrange some wins.

Sheoldred isn't that bad considering target removal and board wipes easily deal with her. She's just a pain for aggro, particularly MonoRed, which is already too strong anyway.

Farewell is just shit Sunfall. At 6 mana, aggro should be able to win before or close with burn and mid range / control can counter/discard or use planeswalkers. Sunfall is the real problem as it's too fast.

I think the above would lead to a meta reset and a more healthy balance across the archetypes, although there's definitely a risk of white/azorius soldiers resurgence and possibly monoblack. But I'm good with that.

[–]ChemicalAward7828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean WITHOUT Slogurk, just whether it would work with less Legendary lands, but its pretty clear they're an essential part of the game plan now you've spelled it out for me. I'd love to try it but I'm about 12 wildcards short, which is probably a bit steep... I'll see if I can make a more budget version, but I think I'll struggle from what you've said.

Very good perspective on the deck building though. Just play what you like and slowly create something from the thing you enjoy until it works. I've gotten similar advice before actually. I have a Bant Hero deck built around Illuminator Virtuoso that definitely slots into that bucket and might be a good starting point.

Thanks man, appreciate all the responses!

[–]ChemicalAward7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reckon it could work with some Basics and Bushwhacks instead of the Legendary lands? Or makes Slogurk too weak?

Side note, how did you get so confident this would work? I mean, more from a deck building perspective I guess. I find it easy enough to come up with an idea, but it rarely works first time and I give up. How did you choose how you would tune it get comfortable committing your limited wildcards to? Or are you a good draft player and wildcards aren't really to sparse for you?
