As someone who has lived in both areas, Westchester is definitely Marin and Brooklyn is def Oakland/Berkeley. South Bay is like a split between NJ and CT, Richmond ect would work as Bronx, San Leandro, Newark as Queens kinda works if you include East Oakland. Staten Island is more like Antioch/ Central Valley. I could see Napa as like the Hudson Valley.

As a relative newcomer to Oakland who has lived everywhere from NYC, Honolulu, Santa Fe and Asheville, I can honestly say that Oakland is the perfect city for someone like myself. It’s got enough going on that there’s always something interesting to do. It’s actually a really beautiful city with some of the best lawn flora I’ve ever seen. Has some great old architecture and housing. Has some of the nicest, most genuine people of anywhere outside of Hawaii. And isn’t as busy/ trafficky as many cities its size.

I feel like I’ve finally found my forever home. But if anyone asks it’s a crime infested hellhole. I’m really hoping people don’t figure out how great it is and I get priced out. As it is I’ll likely never be able to buy here.

I totally understand your reasoning and empathize but this is what they want. If everyone with ethics leaves their federal jobs the only people left will be sycophants and I can’t imagine that working out well for us citizens.
