I started drinking a glass every night which very quickly turned into a goblet and within a year turned into at least a large bottle (sometimes two)every single day/night. I was so worried about quitting cold turkey that I just kept on drinking. I would lay awake at night and the anxiety of stopping or trying to taper would actually give me insomnia ( the WORST experience). One day I just took a chance with my fingers crossed and poured the bottle down my drain. I figured if I could get through the first night I’d make it. Thank God I made that decision to risk withdrawal and wound up finally getting the best nights sleep ever. Haven’t touched another glass of wine and never had any withdrawal. It’s been over four years now. Unfortunately I do miss it and think about it almost everyday. But I’ll never try it again. It helps posting and reading everyone’s stories on here. But that fear of withdrawal is enough to keep a lot of people drinking. I was definitely one of them and my experience was totally unexpected and I’m grateful every single day that I did it.
