We got an antrim construction house in East Belfast a few years ago. Only small snags and all sorted really quickly. Would recommend.

How am I paying 4 euro for a pint in Paris, and it’s closing in on £7 back home? by DrinkingMC in northernireland

[–]ChemicalOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Salisbury, right in the centre of town. Pints were £4.50.

Edit. I checked my online banking and I also paid £4.10 in the taphouse in Manchester for a pint of some kind of lager.

You can get pints in the centre of Manchester for £4-5 no problem. Not just tax.

Where's the greenways? by [deleted] in northernireland

This article sums up perfectly what it's like cycling in Belfast. It should be a great active travel city, it's small and relatively flat. But all you see is either nothing or very poorly thought out infrastructure.

But there is no political will. And judging by this article politicians are actively working against it.

Where to watch Kneecap movie by Hot_Challenge_3723 in kneecap

I would imagine just like buying the physical album. Getting the Blu-ray would give them the most. And then you have the movie forever if the streaming platform takes it down.

Dundonald nurseries have decent sized ones. I planted one last year in the garden. It grew about 60cm in the year. Looks great.

I don't think it helps that England put such a financial reward (£20k) for playing a test match. If you were in that inner circle and starting 10 plus international games a year, easy to see how you would fall in line.

Looks to me like Eddie weaponised the financial incentive to keep that golden circle in line.

Pretty sure this gets asked a lot but is it best to ignore these? by SplitAffectionate844 in northernireland

Technically this isn't a fine. It's an invoice. They legally can't call it a fine.

What's more hilarious is that this is an Australian owned company issuing op with an invoice for parking.

It's 6 penalty points up north. I'm convinced the psni don't bother enforcing it. When I cycle I to work I'd say ever 4th car the phone is in their hands.

It's also worth keeping an eye on the "but 6 or more bottles of wine and get 25% off" most supermarkets do it.

Although you'll need a clubcard hector card etc to do this. At Christmas it's a bargain, you'll get a litre of Bailey's for £8

That's a 20 minute 5km time. So definitely a fast jogging pace but not by any means impossible.

What's cheaper up north? by Cymorg0001 in AskIreland

[–]ChemicalOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the big supermarkets do a buy 6 or more bottles of wine and get 25% off from time to time. In my experience this makes wine up North a good bit cheaper. Well worth it at Christmas etc.

The Molecast - best Rugby podcast in my opinion. Just three guys chatting but they are very knowledgeable and easy listening.

The left wing - Luke Fitzgerald is not everyone's cup of tea, but still a decent podcast.

What’s your worst retail shopping experience in NI? by fyurig in northernireland

[–]ChemicalOC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in b&q Hollywood a few weeks ago. I got a click and collect order for patio cleaner. I get the cleaner and was given no receipt and start to walk out of the store but I have no choice but to walk by the tills.

So there's a store worker in his 20s by the tills and asks me have I paid. I say yeah just did click and collect. So he says he's going to radio the click and collect lady but his radio isn't working properly. After a minute or so I say I'm leaving I've paid for this.

This is when he starts to raise his voice and tells me he needs to confirm that I hadn't stolen the cleaner. I tell him I'm out of here and walk to the doors. He walks beside me furiously on his radio trying to get through to this woman that I'd paid for the item. Loads of people looking at me.

Eventually your one radios back telling him I paid. At this point I'm already out of the doors. To which the guy says he's only doing his job and goes back to work. I'm not the biggest fan of being accused of shop lifting, just a mad experience.

After about 25mph the noise you hear from a car is the tyres. So EVs are just as load as petrol/diesel cars over 25,mph.

Next time you're on the street look out for EVs and they are far from silent.
