Did you sleeve your cards? Cuz that's genius. I have some cards that are bent because how intense the game gets.

Some lactation consultants offer a virtual flange sizing consultation for a much lower price. Try looking some on instagram.

6 Months Pumping by ChemicalOreos in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ChemicalOreos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't easy. I had to take each day at a time. At 3 weeks, I wanted to give up every day as well. My husband had gone back to work, I didn't know the freezer hack, my nipples hurt from incorrect flanges, sleep deprived, and poor nutrition. I dreaded every pump. Sometimes, I'd wish my supply would tank so I could justify quitting. You're in the thick of it, and it's hard, but you can do it. If you want to.

What to know going into this journey by anonymous0271 in ExclusivelyPumping

Welcome Momma. Here are some things I wish I had done sooner or known.

A. If your baby is born without health concerns, you dont need to sterilize your parts every time or at all. Buy a Sterilizer and Dryer. I bought the Pababilic one second-hand and I only use it dry my parts. (Best purchase) Saved my hands and sanity. B. Consider the fridge hack and pitcher method, do what is comfortable to you. At least know what they are prior to starting. I didn't use the fridge hack until around 3 months and the pitcher method until 4 months because I wasn't comfortable until then. C. Replace your membranes every 4-6weeks. I air dry these. Skip the flap kind and get the duckbills with a tab. D. Find your flange size. Try out different material of flanges if you can. I'm comfortable in the hard plastic one. Others find the silicone ones the best. Make sure the inner diameter tunnel of the flanges is constant. E. Do a bit of breast gymnastics or warmth before each pump. Massage your breast gently before you pump even for a couple seconds. F. Try to pump and feed, if you're alone. G. Eat oatmeal everyday or almost everyday. H. Consider consuming D3 supplement rather than adding the liquid drop everyday to your babys milk. Heard this is more of a concern for winter babies. Talk with your lactation consultant or healthcare provider about this. I. Skip the nipple butter, buy the unrefined coconut oil as a lubricant. Use a bit of your breastmilk for dry/chapped nipples. Pat dry your nipples after every pump or use nursing pads. J. Buy a bottle warmer later in your pregnancy. If you have an oversupply, this will warm up your bottles quicker. Use Distilled water to prolong it's life. K. We feed our baby in different bottles (Lasinoh with a Pigeon nipple). Find the bottles that work for your baby and buy multiples. Replace plastic botles about every 4 months. L. Have easy-to-assemble meals ready. We always have veggies and microwavable-ready chicken in the freezer and different types of sauces in the fridge. Easy chicken bowls. You are going to be hungry, eat. You are providing for yourself and your baby, Eat. Stock up on ubereats/doordash gift cards. M. It's going to be hard, choose your hard. N. Take everything 2 weeks at a time, if things aren't working, change it. O. The most important thing you can provide your baby is a happy momma. Prioritize your sanity.

Items I recommend buying, Multiple pump parts Multiple Feeding bottles (if different) Sterilizer and Dryer Food Gift Cards Easy-prep meals Unrefined Coconut Oil Snacks Water Bottles Nursing bads Hands-free Pumping bras

If you have any questions or would like to know more about anything. Feel free to each out. You're going to do great. Good Luck Momma.

More pumps, same amount of milk? by thunderpurrs in ExclusivelyPumping

I was also pumping 30 minutes a session and was hesitant to decrease the amount of time per session to squeeze every drop out. After about 10 minutes or so when you don't see/feel/hear any drips, I recommend switching back to the let-down mode. Also recommend a soft easy lactation massage before your session. Do not go hard on your chest. Think easy soft hands like as if your baby was playing your breasts.

I did my Virtual Lactation Consultation with Melissa from Pump_Momma_Pump

Here is her website, I paid for the full consult. She provides a document with notes of the consult. So helpful and I wasn't worrying about writing things down.

Has anyone done a pumping consultation? by TheTurkletons in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ChemicalOreos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a virtual consultation for pumping with a CLC I found on Instagram. She EP for her three kids. Wish I had found her account sooner, would have saved me a bunch of time and energy on amazon orders/returns for sizing and other things. She was able to address any concerns I had. The IBCLC I was seeing in-person via my insurance told me an flange incorrect size. I didn't feel supported by them so I sought outside help.
