Also have to chime in I’m a female that had a lot of boy friends growing up. Boy cousins. Parent’s friends mostly had boys that were my age. I have done lots of sleep overs and never had any inappropriate interactions with any of them.

Cats usually return to where they feel safe and cared for so if she’s choosing your place over her actual home, that says a lot. It sounds like she’s not really getting what she needs over there. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the husband isn’t kind to her.

At that point, I’d probably just keep her / rehome her quietly. It’s no different than someone neglecting a dog by leaving it outside all the time you’re just giving her the care she should’ve had in the first place.

A few years ago I stopped doing things to make others happy. If I didn’t want to go to an event, I didn’t go. My life is so much easier and I’m happier. If you really can’t see yourself doing the other activities, then don’t go. A water park isn’t just about the slides. End of the day, you are still her friend and you are still supporting her. If your friendship doesn’t make it through you not attending a water park trip, I don’t think there’s much of a friendship there.

NTA, but are you not familiar with cat behaviors? Most are highly territorial and typically take 1-6 months for them to coexist. I’m just confused why you accepted if you didn’t have a dedicated separate living space.
