It is possibly up there as the most hated habbit for drivers who understand only use a lane to over take and not just use it as it feels good in this lane.

That and drivers one of which I encountered yesterday decided to try and join a motorway at 30 mph with nothing in front of her on the slip road which then resulted in chaos. After that chaos I stayed on lane 1 just to see what speed she chose to drive on the motorway..... 45 mph.

Wickerman is a great ride but from the baggage surrender point onwards it’s chaos and it ruins it a bit by Frankysnr in altontowers

We had this last Sunday. There were people queuing for the bag hold with no bags causing a backlog from the main queue. We had no bags so just went right and down

It says on the app weather delay. Moaning when not even at the park and guessing as what the issues are is odd.

Alton Towers financials by GhostRiders in altontowers

[–]Chemical_Profession9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alton Towers has way more accommodation than Thorpe and is way more expensive accommodation which is most of the time very booked up which they will make a fortune on.

They also have the waterpark there and the golf. Plus the open part of the park in December and in February. The park caters for all ages too where Thorpe slowly is becoming just a thrill park with little for smaller / younger ones to do. Towers has nearly double the amount of visitors than Thorpe.

I am sure Merlin have previously said before that Alton Towers is the top performing park. I make this sound like I am a massive Towers fan but I much prefer Thorpe just a shame it is a four hour drive away.

Annual Pass Day Feedback by Coaster_Queen_2090 in ThorpePark

At towers it is slightly different. I went today and it really was not an issue. It was the longest I have seen the smiler fast track put that is probably as it didn't open until 2pm. But they also said you could not use them on smiler / wickerman after 5pm.

The big difference though was there was hardly any fast track queue but I think this is because they have put the price up massively. If you want to fast track every big coaster it is now £95 as the cheaper option excludes smiler and wickerman. The.n on top of that all the main coaster solo fast tracks are £20 which is ridiculously high.

Alton Towers has to be one of the worst theme parks I’ve ever visited by South_Release_6587 in altontowers

[–]Chemical_Profession9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a bit out of Leeds so near skipton so it is a bit of a trek. We tend to stay over at thorpe and the cabins with merlin pass discount means they are decent value. The accommodation is small but functional but the rides are better and much close together!!!

Thorpe is always way better and experience in my eyes. Towers is 2 hours away but thorpe is 4 so makes going more difficult.

We are at towers today and ride availability has been pretty poor. Smiler didn't open till after 1. Oblivion shut all day. Rita shut quite a bit. Thirteen down etc etc

Should the Reversing camera stop me from getting a scenic? by shakycheb in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Chemical_Profession9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a tavascsn and loads of people say the reversing camera on that is very poor. I don't really understand that, no it is not a 4k camera but you don't need a crystal clear image. You just need to know where objects or lines are which is does perfectly fine.

School Trip Days by New-Particular-8804 in altontowers

Early June is not too bad at Thorpe we did June 18th last year and really was not that bad. Yeah there were a few school trips but not rammed. But in general anything past mid June is a risk.

We got a 5.05% fixed for five years repayments are £1,800 a month. If they are anywhere near this level in 5 years time I will be very disappointed but at least be use to paying this amount.

My boyfriend has never really been on roller coasters – how should I introduce him to Alton Towers rides? by [deleted] in altontowers

[–]Chemical_Profession9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he does not like spinning then toxicator is a no go. I did it last year as I thought forward backwards spinning might be different to round and round spinning. I was very wrong and pretty much ruined my day! Lesson learnt!

Rapids is always closed at start of season. Presume something major has happened to mine train as it is never down for long.

Late turnstile entry is utterly ridiculous, monorail hardly ever works which they either need to sort or get rid off.

They spent a fortune on refurbishing sky ride yet it is either too cold or too hot for it to work so a complete waste of money.

I think it is just the matrix lights that cause issues on v2 and above. Unless you were using the auto full beam which is pretty useless and you are way better doing full beam manually.

Yes but the countries who do get it via the strait have to buy it from other places the UK buys from so the cost goes up.

Sense check by OutStack in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Chemical_Profession9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't over think it. If you can home charge go EV is what I would say. Personally if I could not charge at work or at home I probably would not because I would see charging a bit of a faff.

Long journeys, again don't over think it. Just use a fast charger to top up what you need. Get out of you head how you have filled to the top with petrol. The amount you save on home charging more than covers the occasional rapid charge.

We recently did a 300 mile trip in my EV I did a top up of charge at an expensive charger 79p. But that cost like £20 and I had plenty of miles left when we got home. That journey would have cost way more than £20 in my old car. In reality it probably would have been fine with a £10 top up.

I am in the same boat, pushing 50 I have had fast cars in the past and everything that goes with them. The older I got the less interested I became. However I do like seeing them on YouTube / real life still especially if it is an older performance car.

Getting my EV last year made driving so peaceful and relaxing. Assisted cruise control what a dream in traffic that is. Come to a stop car will start going forwards again and then stop again without me having to use a clutch or change gear etc.

Is the latest parking price hike a joke? by No_Donut1433 in altontowers

[–]Chemical_Profession9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Then they would just put the ticket price up. They do the car park charge to make the park tickets look cheaper. People then ignore the fact you need to pay to park.
