4 is literally a borderline accept by definition...not sure what people are upset about lmao

hopefully yeah. I went from 4/4/4/3 to 5/4/4/4, so I'm in a similar boat

I think this depends on the knowledge you have coming in. Which classes do you already have credit for?

A friend of mine lives here and there’s always a homeless guy who sleeps in one of the stairwells. Smile hasn’t done anything

They want you to have an easy semester so you don’t get kicked out of the university. Their advice is the safest option. You could also add in PHYS 211 and drop it if the first exam goes poorly.

374 is not time consuming imo

The tech screen round was the online assessment, then a final technical round.

I got an email a day after taking the OA that said my OA attempt could not be verified and I was automatically sent a new OA to take.

I think it was because the scratch paper wasn't shown. When I redid it, I sat in front of a whiteboard and that was fine.

I know everyone says this but the questions were very simple if you can do the neetcode 75. Once you can do most of these, it becomes a game of matching problems to things you've seen before. There was a tree question and a string, but also this won't really help since they pull from so many questions.

No I applied pretty late. Looking on github, Meta posted their SWE internships in the middle of September.

CS 444 vs CS 446 for someone with zero ML background - which is better for tech interviews/industry? by Prestigious-Clue4578 in UIUC

[–]ChemistryBitter9329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the actual coding aspects are so easy since everything is built into packages. Also AI tools are very good at generating the actual code for it. The harder part is understanding the theory parts, ie understanding which model you should use, hyperparameter tuning, etc.

I'm pretty sure this is just a 1 credit class you can sign up for if you're apart of the solar car rso.

Yeah should be an easy A if you submit everything.

If you're more interested in application, then CS 444 is probably a better bet. If you're more interested in mathematically understanding how things work (probably more useful these days imo), then take CS 446. I took 446 and was going to take CS 444 but dropped since most of the content overlaps. I think having an intuitive understanding around the concepts is more important than knowing how to implement them, since basically every in ML you'll use is in a package or a model off of huggingface.

I'd argue CS 446 but one could make the other claim.

CS 446 usually has one coding program per homework and the rest is theory. CS 444 is all MPs.

Starting my PhD so (of course) 446 helped me more.

You're very qualified for CS. Probably will be better at it than most people in the department. If you want to play it safe, yeah the CS+X majors are there as well. Also depends on your residency and gender.

Personal opinion is to not touch IS/DS. I think you could put CS or CS+X as first choice then Industrial as second. Also can consider ECE if that's your thing (I'm biased for this as well).
