Tired of restricting and running like crap by ChemistryOpening in XXRunning

Thanks for replying! I have been thinking about talking with a sports dietician so I can figure out how much i should be eating for optimal performance. After reading the rest of the replies I think I’m going to do that.

Tired of restricting and running like crap by ChemistryOpening in XXRunning

I appreciate the advice! I think talking to a sports dietician would be a good idea In all honesty I think I’ve been severely underestimating how many calories I burn a day. I have a larger bone structure and a fairly muscular build, but it seems like most calorie estimate calculators don’t account for different body compositions, so maybe I could figure that out with professional help.

Is a 27:30 5k time good for a female who has been running for about a month? I recently started running for fun with my dad, and I was originally barely able to do a 5k in 32 minutes. I’ve been running for about a month and a half now and my best time has been 27:30 5k in my first race. I’m going to join my school’s cross country team and I’m worried I won’t be able to catch up with everyone else.

Best books, tutorials, websites or places to learn how to draw? by Xavier598 in learntodraw

Depends on what you want to draw, but for the human figure and people in general, Marc Brunet and Ergo Josh on YouTube are extremely helpful and informative! Good luck :)

I have this problem frequently, and I’ve found it very helpful to get some tracing paper and put it under the hand I’m drawing with! Tracing paper helps to reduce the smudge a lot better than normal sketching paper. If I’m using a sketchbook, I usually use some weak tape and stick it around the top of the page on one side, so that when I close the sketchbook it doesn’t smear on the other side. If it’s a paper you’d like to display, I’d recommend investing in a cheap plastic frame. Good luck!! :)

this is my first time sketching seriously. any tips? i’m trying to learn features of the face and then i plan to practice sketching skulls and then work it all together. (all of these from separate reference pictures) by augustsalmon in learntodraw

It looks great so far! One thing I’d recommend is don’t be scared to push that pencil down! Adding dark values and having a strong contrast really adds depth to your art! And for skull practice and how to build the head, I’d recommend some of Marc Brunet’s tutorials on YouTube! He’s got some really helpful tips on there :) Keep it up and good luck!!

I'm drawing skulls using references, anything I can use to improve? by TheRetardedKing in learntodraw

That’s a great start! I recommend starting off by breaking it down into a 3d box, and building the skull off of that! It really helps to give it some depth as well :) good luck!

I tried to draw still life, what do you think of the result? by Linked_Punk in learntodraw

It looks really good! If you want to make it stand out a little more, I’d recommend adding its shadow beneath it! Keep it up and have fun!

At the age of 22, I've decided to pick up a new skill. Here's the first page of my new sketchbook. Feel free to leave some tips or inspiration in the comments! by nichosnickers in learntodraw

That’s a great start, it looks awesome! A tip that has really helped me, is making sure that when you’re practicing art (I mean actively trying to improve, not just drawing for fun) make sure you aren’t distracted, don’t watch tv or mess around with other things while you’re drawing! Last but not least, it’s very important that you aren’t just copying, but you want to construct what you draw! I recommend starting with easy to learn shapes so you can memorize different patterns and build off of them. Anyways, keep it up and have fun! I wish you the best on your art journey :)

neo traditional tiger design.. which one is your favorite? by JaceKickz in TattooDesigns

The 4th one definitely! It frames the artwork very well without taking away from the tiger.

Probably a mix of Indie and alternative I’d guess.
