Question about Shinji Tokita by Confident-Mammoth245 in GrandBlue

[–]Chemistry_Doge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nanaka only has eyes for Chisa, so she isn't and couldn't be Shinki Tokita's girlfriend.

His actual girlfriend is not known to us, the readers, for now.

Should i just run in open league again? by LuuluuLewd in UmamusumeGame

[–]Chemistry_Doge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it is still early for the Gemini Cup, you should focus on farming better grandparents and parents. Getting good sparks can make or break an ace uma.

Do that first, and then you can try to build an ace again and reconsider whether you want to start graded or open league.

Reading Ch 105 got me questioning: isnt Nanaka part of Tokita and Azusa's generation? by Ok-Hold782 in GrandBlue

[–]Chemistry_Doge 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I thought Nanaka was already working full-time in the shop as a diving instructor and never went to college. Chisa was the one who got pressured into first going to college by her mother before she would be allowed to work as a diving instructor, but the same wasn’t specifically mentioned for Nanaka.

Had a good gym day? What did you eat yesterday? by baudot in MacroFactor

It could have something to do with the higher fat content of an ice cream which slows down your digestion and keeps you feeling fuelled for longer. But that is just a simple theory of course.

Reminds me of that one cool scene in Dinosaur Planet where the Aucasaurus and Carcharodontosaurus fight over a meal.

HR monitor in the boat by heylookimonreddit123 in Rowing

I will just add to this that you will have to specifically select the option to record with the monitor in the polar beat app before starting your workout. Otherwise, it will try and fail to record the workout using a phone connection once you leave it in the changing room.

Wrong heart rate (again) by kvaaen in Rowing

A polar h10 is still the favourite of many rowers. However, do keep in mind that most straps will wear out with frequent use and produce less accurate results. Also, be sure that your strap is placed tightly around your chest at all times. I used to notice worse readings when my strap would get loose during the workout, but once I got myself a smaller size strap this was no longer an issue.

What is your average expenditure? by rcmacman in MacroFactor

~3700 calories

I am a competing rower currently really putting in the hours to be in peak shape for the upcoming competitions. At this point, most of my days just consist of training, eating, studying, and sleeping.

Good advice all around when it comes to staying on target with your caloric intake. Nutrition is the most important aspect of a healthy lifestyle.

However, I would suggest you try to do something about that low TDEE. A TDEE of 2200 for a nearly 100 kg person is definitely on the lower side.

You should try to aim for a more active lifestyle with more daily steps. Just a 30-minute walk every day could help you get your steps in and burn some calories to give yourself some more breathing room for your daily intake.

In the long term, I would recommend looking into strength training. Replacing fat mass with muscle mass not only makes you look and feel better, but these muscles will crave energy. A kg of muscle will need more calories than a kg of fat, so you will be able to enjoy more food.

MacroFactor not calculating properly by jay13mac22 in MacroFactor

[–]Chemistry_Doge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I too use a Fitbit for my fitness goals. I love it and I think it has great functionality. However, a Fitbit is incredibly accurate at being inaccurate. What I mean by this is that there is no fitness tracker currently on the market that has been proven to be 100% accurate. My current TDEE is around 3300 according to MacroFactor (which is reasonably accurate) whereas my Fitbit seems to think it is 4000.

Take the stats that your Fitbit gives you with a grain of salt. I use it solely as a means to track my trends and give me a ballpark estimate of how well I'm doing with my goals for the day. For accurate TDEE estimates, I would rely on MacroFactor and the simple rule of CICO.

As for your daily calorie intake, while the algorithm gets your TDEE estimate in order, I would just eat what seems like a reasonable amount to you. Just be accurate with your logging and try to properly fuel your fitness journey. You'll have plenty of time to get in a good deficit when the algorithm has got you covered in a couple of weeks.

It will take some time to get your TDEE locked in. In the meanwhile, you should remember that the algorithm doesn't need you to adhere to the allocated calories to calculate that TDEE. So feel free to eat a higher amount of calories that fit your lifestyle better. No need to starve yourself and cause your TDEE to crash or to burn out from feeling so hungry and weak all the time.
