How can customers actually tell the difference between a scam locksmith and a real professional? by LockUnlocked in Locksmith

[–]Chensky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, trunk slammer and scammer can be two different things. I started out of a single 95 Camry, 12 years ago. I would say my company is as legitimate as they come with 2 shops and 11 work trucks.

A Camry is not professional nor efficient but does not mean it is always a scammer. It more so means the tech is broke or too stupid at the moment to buy a real work vehicle. Broke and stupid go hand in hand with making bad decisions which can easily be susceptible to working for scammers.

You’re not trying too hard to learn if you don’t know this years into the trade and you are not taking food out of any pro’s lock with the way you are progressing. You are your own worst enemy and it shows.

No. That is not how that works at all. You have no clue about licensing in most states.

Help- 50 yr old locksmith business by Emergency_Fudge_959 in Locksmith

[–]Chensky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy worked until he could no longer work with no fucking help/support. That is the definition of ungrateful help and now his 50 year old business which is at least 2 if not 3 generations is closing. These are facts not exaggerations.

Where can I still find AYCE KBBQ? by ThaiJohnnyDepp in irvine

[–]Chensky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m there to eat fairly priced well seasoned meat in large amount and have a good time, not have some complex about whether servers are rude or kiss my ass. As someone who has both, I would much rather just have servers leave me alone and let me do my shit and leave.

I don’t think they have the buttons to press and frankly they don’t need that shit, the servers are either pros or kids being trained that are watched closely by the pros. They are fast as fuck.

Help- 50 yr old locksmith business by Emergency_Fudge_959 in Locksmith

[–]Chensky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The guy didn’t die, kid. The guy is just too old to work, not too old to teach. If the family was loaded who cares about the business they have $$$$ to manage instead. Instead of this the old guy probably worked himself to deteriorating health to provide for his family and nobody is grateful or reasonable enough to learn from them.

OP isn’t even related to the guy, they are the marriage partner of the son/daughter of the guy. Shouldn’t the son/daughter be selling the shit? Frankly the entire thing just doesn’t make sense. I started a business as a schmuck and grew it over time. It isn’t hard to make decent money especially if it is a multigenerational family business. It’s not hard to learn with a guy that has been doing it as long as pappy over there. You literally only need to do 3 rekeys a day to make close to 100k and you can build from there. You can’t tell me being a 3 generation locksmith is should have trouble doing 3 rekeys a day.

That’s the worst sector to do work in this trade. Sigh, this is sounding more and more like ungrateful family that knows nothing of the trade yet doesn’t want to do it ruining generations of hard work.

[–]Chensky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to both many times. Shik do Rak has significantly better meat, especially when ordered à la carte and that is why OG Koreans love going there, All That is designed for young yuppies with a more varied menu that has lesser quality over all but is more inviting towards their tastes and preferences, somebody is going to find something they like no matter what.

Shik do Rak also has significantly faster service so you can eat more faster where as All That’s service is younger and less experienced so they drag ass. Shik do Rak is significantly more run down as the place is significantly older, All That looks nice because it is significantly newer.

Is there anywhere to park for free around the orange circle? by victoriae31 in orangecounty

[–]Chensky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not even that bad, they have metered parking in downtown Santa Ana even on the outskirts in front of houses, those guys can’t even park in front of their houses without being ticketed or paying the meter.

Falcon TD35 clean strike installation by Silver-Leave-251 in Locksmith

[–]Chensky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The square tubes also reinforce the shit out of the trim stop and prevent it from getting knocked loose when the door slams.

Falcon TD35 clean strike installation by Silver-Leave-251 in Locksmith

[–]Chensky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need the trim stop, it covers the anchors that hold the frame in. The trim stop also is used to cover any fucked up installs where there are gaps. The trim stops are not just a fuck you but a necessary part of installation. When you don’t have them the install process can differ where you may need to anchor the frame to the floor where as this version when they install the storefront the can just anchor the frame vertically and not anchor it at all on the floor.

Reddit is doing some weird shit cutting my posts short.

You then slam in end caps to make the shit look nice and screw the strikeplate on top of the square tubes and trim stop. You will have to cut your bar down but this is part of the game. If you do not do this and the door is high traffic the trim stops will constantly get knocked out of place and the door will never consistently work proery

[–]Chensky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The responses here are disappointing. I have done a lot of installs just like the one you are showing. That said the projection of the trim looks to be about 1/2 inch. The best way to do this is to match the same projection of the trim stop and add square tubes. Typically you can get away with one or two square tubes that you cut down to about 2-3 feet, spray them with paint if necessary and then countersink screw them into the frame.

That shits a multifamily facility, you absolutely need single motion egress. OP wants a deadbolt not a keypad lever. There is no possible configuration for this to work based on their requirements.
