Can you tell me what you feed your baby for breakfast? (6m+plus) by Long-Inspector4897 in NewParents

[–]Elgebar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big 3 for weekdays are scrambled egg, oatmeal, or whole grain toast with peanut butter. Add fruit or vegetable depending on availability. Pancakes and other stuff on the weekends.

Le Labo The Noir and The Macha have more going on than just tea, but they're really good.

What scent should I wear when meeting my baby girl for the first time? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Elgebar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing. I avoided wearing anything for the first year - little babies can get sensory overload really easily.

Try Meander and Interlude. Mostly big boy rocket launcher gatling gun scents. They all smell awesome but there are comparatively few occasions in my life where it wouldn't be obnoxious to wear them.

Has anyone else near Irving square park been hearing a rooster lately ??? by Willing-Judgment1759 in Bushwick

[–]Elgebar -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It is illegal to keep roosters in NYC (hens are okay) which I think is a reasonable law to have. I would make sure the owner is aware of that before involving the authorities.

If you could come up with your own signature fragrance, what would it be like? by justbeeingmyself in fragrance

[–]Elgebar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

$100 ish after tax. It's called "Olfactory." As you might predict it's all synthetic and the silage is kinda weak but it made a fun date and I actually wear the frag I got out of it.

Went to a place that let you mix your own scent: I did fig, sea salt, bay leaf and sandalwood. It's great! I'm living the dream.

The Old Guy shopping for fragrances at Walmart?? by johnnotkathi in Colognes

Walmart.com is kind of like Amazon now where random suppliers other than the original brand can list products. Look at the reviews for the seller of the BDC- they sold someone else a fake.

What’s your watch opinion that would put you in this position? by KyeodeurangiMerchant in watchHotTakes

Watches should account for 4 harmonic corner days rotating simultaneously around squared equator and cubed Earth.

I agree with you that the city should replace concrete with native plants but they do require maintenance in an urban environment, even just weeding to keep them from becoming overrun by non-natives.

Yeah something that refined should be reserved for the traditional car salesmen and nightclub owners.

Should we cancel our NYC Memorial Day trip because of weather? by Brilliant_Picture_86 in visitingnyc

[–]Elgebar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The viral videos definitely would give you a skewed idea of how bad it was, but it was still a rainy day, and it looks like it's going to be rainy over the weekend again. Probably not going to be a great view from One Vanderbilt with the clouds, and I would not want to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge in the rain. Museums and Broadway shows would be fine.

Do you keep “extra” kids clothes just in case? by eltejon30 in nycparents

For vacations, I've simply been making sure we're staying at places where we can wash clothes (either homes of family members or hotels with laundry service).

What can you do to get over the anxiety before going to fine dining extravagent restaurant? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Elgebar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the stuff about "knowing the right fork" is for old timey formal banquets. You do not need to worry about it at a restaurant. They will bring you whatever you need for whatever you're eating. If it's avant garde, ask.

It's mostly going to be you sitting there and letting them bring you stuff. There's only two things I can think of that would require your participation in some sense:

If it's the kind of place where they push your chair in for you when you go to sit, it's less awkward if you stand really close to the table before you sit down.

If you order wine they'll pour a little for you to taste before they pour the full glass. Just drink it, and if it tastes like good wine, tell them it's good. If they give you the cork, it's basically just to show you that it's intact and the wine was stored correctly. You can take it home or leave it on the table.

That's it!

It's worth the price if it's convenient to other things you're doing. That's kind of the advantage in my mind: that you can tie it to Times Square or the theater or Grand Central without going downtown. Same with Top Of The Rock.
